Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum | Review #TataHarper

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum is an ultra-effective exfoliating serum that gently exfoliates dead skin cells, with a blend of Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy Acids, to reveal healthy luminous skin. Unlike many AHA and BHA skin treatments, that can have a tendency to dry skin, Tata Harper has formulated this special serum to hydrate and condition the skin without compromising its ability to exfoliate dead skin.

Tomato Carotenoids, which are found in this serum and are known to absorb UVA and UVB, when exposed to sunlight, are not a replacement for a high SPF sunscreen. Whenever one exfoliates the skin, it is imperative to give the skin extra UV protection, and I therefore never leave the house with anything lower than an SPF30. Additionally, since this is a resurfacing serum that exfoliates dead skin cells, it really should be used alone, and not in conjunction with other products known to exfoliate (i.e. exfoliating scrubs, exfoliating pads, peels, exfoliating serums, retinoids and retinol-based products etc.). Not only does the Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum, which is based upon her wildly popular Resurfacing Mask, exfoliate the skin with impressive efficacy, but it does so efficiently and quickly. I saw a brightening effect after only a couple of uses.

I have neither experienced redness, nor peeling, and my normal/combination skin has never felt irritated or sensitive after use. Furthermore, I don't feel any discomfort or tingling. I should note, however, that I exfoliate regularly and generally do not see the obvious signs, such as peeling or flaking skin, after use. If you don't exfoliate often, you will likely experience dead cells pilling and rolling off of the skin as you massage in the serum. I patch tested it on a spot on my hand where I had not exfoliated in a while, and I was able to get the dead skin cells to ball up.

The serum boasts a lightweight and fast-absorbing texture that hydrates, brightens and leaves skin unbelievably soft, smooth and unmistakably luminous. I use it either day and night, or at night, and I am quite impressed by my results. Like other Tata Harper products, this has an earthy aroma that I find quite pleasant, but it is neither overpowering, nor does it linger.
According to Tata Harper,

Born from our fan favorite Resurfacing Mask, this serum gives your daily dose of glow. Made with a special blend of AHAs, BHAs and antioxidants, this formula gives you bright, healthy-looking skin. AHAs provide gentle chemical exfoliation on the surface of the skin to slough off dead skin cells to help retexturize skin and even skin tone, BHAs provide gentle chemical exfoliation that fights through oil and buildup to help clean, clear and minimize the look of pores and improve overall skin clarity. Natural antioxidants help fight the damaging effects of free radicals from daily pollution that diminish your glow and can make you look older than you are. Skin quenchers provide an instant surge of moisture to restore softness and smoothness and keep skin hydrated without leaving an oily residue.

Directions: Massage one to two pumps onto face and neck. Follow with eye treatment. Use AM and PM.

Precautions: Avoid direct contact with eyes. Sunburn alert: this product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothes, and limit sun exposure after using this product for a week afterwards.

  1. What an unusual "serum"! It seems to be a true multi-tasker that can be used instead of a liquid peel. Interesting!

    1. Definitely worth trying, but do sniff it at Sephora. It is very earthy and natural smelling like all Tata Harper products.

  3. I had a sample jar of the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask and it's incredible. I'm wondering how a combo of that mask and this serum would work.

    1. The Resurfacing Mask really is incredible, and this is based upon that. I think that you could use them together, but I actually don't think that it is necessary since the mask is so efficient that you don't really need to waste the serum on the mask days. The mask pairs perfectly with the Regenerating Cleanser. In fact, Tata Harper, herself, recommends using the two together.

    1. Her products are amazing, period. They do have an earthy aroma, and I suspect that it would be too much for your sensitive nose. You would definitely need to sniff her products at Sephora to see if you can deal with the aroma.
