TOM FORD Winter Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette in Cool and Warm and Lip Foil in Crème Conque and Venus Rising | Review and Swatches #TomFordBeauty #WinterSoleilCollection

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

If you are nearly as obsessed with TOM FORD Beauty, as am I, then there is no doubt that the limited Edition TOM FORD Winter Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette Lip Foils have captured your attention. Given my nearly irrational penchant for all things TOM FORD Beauty, I knew that I had to have part of the collection. I decided to purchase both of the Soleil Eye and Cheek Palettes and two of the Lip Foils.

I need to preface this review by stating that I am thoroughly obsessed with this collection, and simply had to have both palettes and two of the Lip Foils, but given that they are quite expensive, you may want to exercise more self-restraint than I did. That said, the quality of all four pieces is extraordinary, and I am so happy that I splurged. If you want any of these limited edition beauties, I urge you to get them before they are gone. They are holiday perfect, and are such a delight to use.
TOM FORD Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette in Cool and Warm each feature four eye shadows, a highlighter and a blush. They are housed in an ultra-luxe white clutch compact with gold accents and a very large, and usable, mirror on the lid. As the names indicate, one palette features warm hues while the other cool.
According to TOM FORD Beauty,

The ultimate TOM FORD Soleil accessory—a reflective ivory-and-gold-colored clutch contains a color palette for eyes and cheeks to create an array of luxurious looks. Each features four eye shadows, highlighter and blush in two color waves: sultry, bronzed warmth and sweet, incandescent cool.

Create an array of luxurious looks with the Eye & Cheek Palette. It features four eye shadows, a highlighter, and a blush in two color waves: sultry, bronzed warm hues, and sweet, incandescent cool shades.
TOM FORD Winter Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette in Cool is an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful palette featuring a cool pink blush, a cool pink highlighter and 4 stunning cool toned eye shadows. All 6 of these powders are ultra-finely milled, glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly and boast a gorgeous glow. Without fail, each of these beauties blend beautifully, are long-wearing and such a pure joy to use.
Winter Soleil Cool Blush is a bright, mid-toned cool pink with buildable coverage. I prefer to sheer it out for a more natural appearance, and I often lightly mix it with the accompanying highlighter for a gorgeous ethereal glow. It has a very finely milled texture, spreads across the skin effortlessly, and it neither settles into pores, nor does it emphasize fine lines. It has a refined satin finish, and when used with a light hand, it has a natural luminous glow-from-within appearance.

Winter Soleil Cool Highlighter is a cool light/medium pink highlighter with a stunning luminous glow. I use a very light hand, and found while buildable that it tends to become more frosted in finish when too much is added. It has a soft and creamy texture that is dreamy to work with, and it blends out effortlessly.

Winter Soleil Cool Eyeshadow 1 (Top Left) is a light neutral pink glitter shade that is nearly opaque, but that can be sheered out for a light wash of shimmering pink. I do not tend to wear pink eyeshadows, but this is neutral enough that I find it particularly flattering and easy to use. Unlike many glitter shades, I didn't experience any fallout, and found the texture to be nearly wet like many of the other TOM FORD glitter shade. I find this to impart more of a glow than the chunky glitter that one finds in so many glittery shadows on the market. I suspect that the creamy, nearly wet texture is what prevents this shadow from producing unwanted fallout.

Winter Soleil Cool Eyeshadow 2 (Top Right) is a light, cool-toned lilac-leaning purple with a stunning sheen. While a glitter shade, it has the same creamy, nearly wet texture as Winter Soleil Eyeshadow 1, and therefore I experienced no perceptible fallout. There is something incredibly satisfying about working with powder shadows with creamy, ultra-finely milled textures, and that is precisely what I experience with this shadow. It has buildable coverage– which intensified its pigmentation and luminosity.

Winter Soleil Cool Eyeshadow 3 (Bottom Left) is a luminous mid-tone taupe brown with the slightest bit of cool purple at its very base. It is a taupe-lovers dream, and it offers full opaque coverage with enviable pigmentation, but it can also be sheered out for a simple wash of color. While it doesn't have that semi-wet feeling that defines so many of the TOM FORD glitter shades, it is infinitely creamy and easy to blend.

Winter Soleil Cool Eyeshadow 4 (Bottom Right) is a gorgeous blackened plum eyeshadow that utterly took my breath away the moment that I swatched it. It is finely milled, blends effortlessly, and can be used as one spectacularly gorgeous eyeliner, if you tend to shy away from darker shades on the lid and in the crease.

TOM FORD Winter Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette in Warm is an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful palette featuring a warm orange coral blush, a cool golden highlighter and 4 stunning warm toned eye shadows. All 6 of these powders are ultra-finely milled, glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly and boast a gorgeous glow. Without fail, each of these beauties blend beautifully, are long-wearing and such a pure joy to use.
Winter Soleil Warm Blush is a luscious, warm orange coral that is ultra-pigmented and silky smooth in texture. While it does boast buildable coverage, I prefer using a light hand for a very light, luminous flush.

Winter Soleil Warm Highlighter is a gorgeous and complex warm golden ivory highlighter with peach undertones. The texture is ultra-finely milled with absolutely exquisite pigmentation. It glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits color evenly, and offers buildable coverage. With a light hand, it gives the skin an incredibly beautiful luminosity, and when built up it becomes somewhat frosty in finish.

Winter Soleil Warm Eyeshadow 1 is a light to mid-tone warm golden ochre with a luminous frosted finish, but it is infinitely wearable. It is finely milled, it glides across the skin evenly and deposits color evenly. It offers buildable coverage for full opacity, but as always, I tend to wear it more subtly.

Winter Soleil Warm Eyeshadow 2 is a warm, mid-tone golden brown with a gorgeous shimmering finish. It boasts buildable opaque coverage, and with each added layer the sparkly intensifies. It is finely milled and such a joy to work with. I experienced no fallout whatsoever.

Winter Soleil Warm Eyeshadow 3 is a delectable warm, mid-tone golden brown kissed by rose gold. It has a luminous finish that is nearly metallic, and it ultra-finely milled with buildable coverage.  Whether you prefer opaque coverage, or a light wash of color, this beauty definitely delivers.

Winter Soleil Warm Eyeshadow 4 is a deep, warm and rich bronze brown with stunning shimmer, and it has quickly distinguished itself as one of my all-time favorite eyeshadows. It offers buildable coverage and effortlessly achieves full opacity. It is finely milled, but a bit more firm than the rest of the powders in the palette, but it still glides across the skin effortlessly, deposits evenly and blends beautifully.

TOM FORD Winter Soleil Lip Foil in Crème Conque and Venus Rising
TOM FORD Winter Soleil Lip Foil in Crème Conque and Venus Rising are the two beautiful shades that I selected, I would have purchased more, but these were the two that I knew that I would wear a lot. The Winter Soleil Lip Foil formula, as the name suggests, boasts a foil finish but neither are gritty or chunky. If you do not like frosted finishes, then this formula is not for you. Both of the shades that I selected glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color evenly and feel lightweight. They have the perfect amount of cushion for comfortable wear, and I find both lightly hydrating. Furthermore, they do not feather, bleed, or settle into lip lines.

Winter Soleil in Venus Rising is beautiful mid-tone pink with cool-leaning base that is punctuated by multicolored shimmer. It offers buildable coverage for intensified opacity, but can also be sheered out.

Winter Soleil in Crème Conque is a light, warm peachy pink with stunning multi-colored shimmer. While the coverage is buildable, given that it is a light shade punctuated by frost that intensifies with each pass– one has to be careful not to overdo it. I tend to gravitate toward light nudes and pinks, so this is just my type of shade, but I have a fair-leaning cool-toned complexion– and these types of shades work very well for me.

According to TOM FORD,

Three-dimensional, ultra-fine mica reflects a vibrant mirror foil finish in a range of stunning shades, from bronzed neutral to shimmering peach and pink, to sparkling plum. Glides on lips with smooth, even application for brilliant, luxurious vibrancy. Presented in signature Tom Ford Soleil packaging.

Overall Assessment: Given that I am a card-carrying member of the TOM FORD Beauty fan club, there was no question that I had to have several pieces from the Winter Soleil Collection. Do you need very piece? Of course not– especially since these purchases constitute a luxury splurge, but if you love TOM FORD Beauty, and see things that you would wear and covet, then I definitely recommend selecting the pieces that you will actually wear and enjoy. I am gleeful about my purchases, and am very happy that I made them!

  3. I'm unsubscribing to your blog! I had convinced myself that I could live with just the warm palette but now seeing your swatches I must have the cool too. Your descriptions are so amazing and your swatches are perfect. And I'll need those lipsticks too. I'll send you the bill. The good news is that I have a reward at Nordstrom and I haven't used my 10 point day. I'll forgive you for always being a temptress.

    1. LOL!!!!!!! It's funny I bought the Cool Palette first and convinced myself that I didn't need the Warm Palette– then I started obsessing on the Warm Palette and I caved. The lipsticks are really lovely, and these two colors, in particular, are right in our lip color wheel house. Thank you for forgiving me for being a temptress! ;-) It's a good thing that you saved your 10 point day and have a reward at Nordstrom! I need to use both as well! :-) you really won't regret the Cool Palette, it is even more gorgeous in person!
