Surratt Artistique Blush in Guimauve Review & Swatches

Purchased by me (Affiliate Links)

One simply cannot help but be drawn in by the lovely products from Surratt Beauty, and the more that you try the more transfixed you will be by the whole beautifully edited collection.
As I have previously noted,

Surratt, an extraordinary line that burst onto the scene when Troy launched his line at Barneys New York in 2013, was quickly recognized as one of the most innovative luxury brands to have hit the marketplace in years. A favorite among makeup artists, beauty bloggers, and the beauty-obsessed alike, this line boasts the most remarkable finely milled textures, rich color saturation, and overall exemplary quality. Troy, who is among the most celebrated and coveted celebrity makeup artists, is a true visionary whose beautifully edited makeup line was the result of many years of intensive research, and inspired by his deep and abiding love of high quality Japanese beauty products. In fact, his painstakingly crafted line is made in Japan with the most exacting standards. No cost was spared in his use of the finest ingredients coupled with the most innovative technologies, and the end result is a line of consistently superior quality.
Furthermore, as I have previously stated in other posts, anyone who has ever tried any of his powder-based products will attest, their smooth creamy texture is utterly peerless. As Troy explained to me, his powder products are made using the Japanese slurry-technology whereby they begin their life as a liquid that is poured and then evaporates leaving behind the most creamy and easy to blend powder. The textures of these products are utterly sublime, and the tactile experience is so superbly satisfying that one is naturally inclined to reach for these products above all others. Trust me when I tell you, these fetching products will be among your very favorites from first swatch to hitting the pan! Troy's products boast a modernist design with eco-friendly minimalist packaging, and his eyeshadow and blush pans can be placed in one of the chic Surratt Palettes for added convenience.
According to Surratt,

Founder Troy Surratt believes that 'All good design eliminates excess waste and is responsible.' With minimal and recyclable materials, his Artistique Blushes reflect that philosophy.

Flushed cheeks with an aura of vitality. Naturally glowing finish. Shades range from demure to provocative.

Blushes are held in a custom-tooled case, with no aluminum separating the makeup from its holder. When your shade is finished, the plastic container can be recycled. Build your own palette by mixing blushes and eyeshadows. Simply click and lock shades in place. A delicate adhesive will keep your individual shades from moving. Shades are easily replaceable.
Surratt Artistique Blush in Guimauve is described by Surratt as a "marshmallow pink" definitely is on the demure end of the Surratt color spectrum, but as such this stunning light blue-based pink is one that can be used on a daily basis. Guimauve is soft, smooth, creamy and glides across the skin effortlessly, evenly and blends out seamlessly. While it is a powder it feels like a cream to the touch as a result of the slurry technology employed in its making. It is this very textural difference that makes the formula unique and indescribably luxurious to the touch. The finish is best described as a natural and luminous glow from within that approximates naturally flushed cheeks-- particularly so when applied with a light hand. That said, this extraordinary blush can likewise be built up for maximum color saturation and opacity. Guimauve is a true thing of beauty, and if you love beautiful natural looking pink blushes then this beauty simply is not to be missed.
The swatch on top is applied more heavily, and below it is blended out for a barely-there natural glow.

Overall assessment: C'est vraiment magnifique! This is a superior quality product in every way. There are more of these beauties in my future! It just doesn't get better than this!

  2. Hi Helen :)
I have this one & love the formula too! I especially love his lipslques- have 5 of them. What is the name of the highlighter you have? I don't remember seeing that the last time when I was in Barneys. I will have to check it out next time I go to Beverly Hills which will be for sure when Neiman's has Tom Fords fall collection in. Have you seen it yet? There looks to be a berry blush & pink highlighter duo that looks divine & a new eyeshadow quad too! I always get so excited about fall beauty collections, lol

    1. Hi Naomi! <3

Isn't Guimauve just spectacular?! Nice job on 5 Lipsliques-- I love them as well, but so far just have two, but definitely want WAY MORE! The highlighter is Auréole-- it's a light golden highlighter, but still called an Artistique Blush. Troy said that it's great to layer over Guimauve-- which he demonstrated on my hand-- which is why I had to buy it!

I have seen a few pictures of the TF fall collection, and as expected you and I are on the exact same page-- those are the very two products that jumped out at me as well. That quad looks SO gorgeous!! Let me know when you go to NM-- with any luck I will be free and we can meet there! Yes, the fall collections excite me as well!!!!
      xoxo Helen

    2. Hi again :D
Oooo Aureole, thank you. I will definitely let you know when I go to NM, I would love to meet you in person. I'm hoping they will have TF fall collection sooner than August as I now just found out Chanel has their fall collection already for sale. Not that I was excited for Chanel (my heart is pining for Tommy, lol), but just stunned that it's already available sooner than expected ;)

  4. HIIII HELEN!!! *waves* :P I hope you've been well--it's been way too long since we talked! Anyway, I have read about this line several times from Best Things in Beauty but have yet to check it out. Really loved this review you did on the blush though. You described it beautifully and now I MUST see the blush for myself in person! I am always a fan of more natural, subtle, flushed from within type blushes and this sounds like it'd be perfect for me! Love the packaging too! :)

  5. When (not if) I win the lottery I'm moving to California and will be close enough to pop into Barney's to buy up the line in person. You are better than any advertising they could do.

    1. When you and I both win the lottery we will have to live close to one another-- so that we can pop into BNY together and do some serious damage at more than just the Surratt counter! Thank you for your very meaningful kind words! <3

  6. Augh! I really want to try this line, and this particular blush would be *perfect* for my sister (partly because of the name). I *love* products that are super soft... I wonder if rubbing your face lovingly against the compact to get the colour onto your cheeks is considered bad form...anyone? ;-)

    1. It's a lovely line, and the blushes and the lip products are among my very favorites that he makes! Who cares if that would be considered bad form by some-- it sounds fun to do!!!!!! <3
