NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm Review

 Purchased by me (Affiliate links)

According to NUXE their Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm is,

A repairing, nourishing lip balm with a rich, delicious texture to restore suppleness and comfort to dry and chapped lips. An ultra concentrated natural formula for instant healing. Soothes, repairs, nourishes, softens and heals chapped lips whilst reducing fine lines of the lip contour area.

They also assert,

With its formula tested in extremely cold conditions in Canada, comfort is restored to chapped lips (96%**). They are nourished (82%**), repaired (96%**) and protected (91%**).
*Use test carried out under dermatological supervision on 22 volunteers over 28 days in extreme climate conditions in Canada - % of volunteers who agreed with the claim.
The texture of Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm is ultra thick and rich and unbelievably moisturizing. It is what I like to think of as a truly full-coverage lip balm because it really coats your lips  and has amazing staying power. It feels amazing on the lips--offering relief to even the most chapped lips. The finish is matte-- which likely accounts for its ability to stay put once applied. Likewise, the matte finish makes for an extraordinary base for any lipstick-- and increases the wear-time of anything you put on your lips. This magical balm makes my lips so soft and supple that it has found a home on my nightstand. When I apply it at night there is still a very thin veil on my lips when I wake up, and my lips are plump and moisturized without fail. It really is incredible! The scent has a light and refreshing citrus flair, but there is no distinguishable taste once applied to the lips.

Active Ingredients: "This concentrated skincare nourishes, repairs, soothes and protects the lips (Honey, Plant Oils, Shea Butter, Grapefruit Essence)."

Overall assessment: I now understand why NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm has achieved cult-status-- in my estimation it lives up to the hype!

  1. Hi darling Helen,
I will try this for sure. My lips are overall terrible. They peel if I look at them. I enjoy Baume de Rose a lot and so far is best thing I have tried yet I still have chapped lips after a few hours. I will try this now and see how it goes.
Lots of happiness and beauty for this new year. I hope to continue learning and discovering new things here with Lola, the secretive beauty.

    1. Happy New Year, wefadetogray! I think that you will like this lip balm-- it really stays put once applied, and truly does wonders for winter-battered lips! I am still MADLY in love with Baume de Rose and Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Balm, but this also has earned pride of place among my favorites! This is very thick and adheres beautifully to the lips-- if you apply it at night there will still be a thin veil on your lips when you wake up, and they will be greatly softened and hydrated. I hope that this works for you!

Wishing you a very happy and prosperous 2014!!! xoxox, Helen

  2. Hey Helen, glad to hear you like this one as well! I'm on my third pot! I have recently discovered La Roche Posay Cicaplast lip balm, and it's pretty much just as good! I also prefer the tube packaging. Feels more sanitary ;)

    1. Hey Sunny!!!!! I'm not surprised that this is your third pot-- it's a fantastic product! Thank you for sharing your discovery of La Roche Posay Cicaplast Lip Balm-- I will add it to my list to try! Tube packaging is definitely more sanitary for carrying in your purse-- it's too easy to contaminate those lovely little pots if you are out and about in the world using it-- rather than at home. Wishing you a very very Happy New Year! :-)

  3. Yup. This is the be-all, end-all of lip balms for me. Unfortunately, I don't find the stick version quite as magical as the pot, which makes transport a little trickier, but I use this every day and my lips have never been happier. Glad to see you like it too!

    1. Hi Kate! It's pretty amazing stuff-- you weren't joking when you made that proclamation long ago! I agree that pots are less convenient when traveling about-- tubes and sticks are definitely more convenient and sanitary to carry in one's purse. It's too bad that their stick version isn't as magical as the pot! I definitely love this and will replace it once I finish this magical little pot! Wishing you a very Happy New Year! :D

  4. This is a must in my nighttime ritual. I like to think NUXE's subtle fragrance and uneven texture makes falling asleep easier. I didn't know you hadn't tried it until now -- I would have sent you a pot! I concur with Kate; the stick version is a different creature and not in the same ballpark as the pot.

You've raved about the Osmia balm. How do the two compare?

    1. Hi BooBoo! I have had it for a while now, but only just got around to reviewing it. It does such an amazing job! I completely understand why it is an integral part of your nighttime ritual-- it does such an amazing job softening and smoothing lips overnight, and I am continually shocked that I wake up to find that a thin veil has remained on my lips overnight! Funny that they tested the formula in the "extremely cold conditions of Canada"-- apparently they did not overstate the efficacy of their product!!!!!!!!

The Osmia Organics lip balm is a truly amazing product, and I find it just as moisturizing as NUXE. However it is neither as thick as NUXE, nor is it matte like NUXE-- so it does not cling to the lips as long as NUXE does (therefore you may feel the need to reapply it a touch more frequently. That said, when I use either overnight my lips look and feel amazing when I wake up. I use both day and night, and tend to choose based upon mood (true for all of my lip balms, actually).

  5. I know bellyhead loves this too!!! I have so many balms I want to try, and this is definitely one of them. Glad to see another fan!! Next up on my testing agenda is the Omorovicza lip balm. Have you tried any of the sara happ lip scrubs or balms?

    1. This is a wonderful lip balm-- give it a try at some point, but I would think that your deep love of Omorovicza dictates that you should try theirs next!! You have me wanting to try their cleanser so badly!!!!! I haven't tried anything from sara happ yet, but have wanted to. Have you? If so, do you like her products?

    3. Don't you have a Clarisonic? That's what I use to scrub my lips-- works like a charm! I have been curious about sara happ products for a while as well! I always have several things sitting in my Nordstrom cart- LOL!!!!!!!! Have a great week! :D

  6. Purchased this and the tube of lip balm in the recent Hautelook event. One set for ds and one for me. Hope I will love it as you do but I won't be testing it until Winter. DS loses lip balm tubes at an astonishing rate. I am going to suggest he put the jar by his bed for safe keeping!

    1. I love this formula. It's a little thicker than some, but a little goes a long way. Thanks for commenting on it– it just occurred to me that I haven't used mine in a while– so I am going to go dig it out! If he loses them at an astonishing rate perhaps you can get him Chapstick and Carmex to lose out in the world, and then leave this one by his bed, as you suggested!

  7. Last Christmas Eve he asked for a tube of lip balm. I gave him whatever I had. He went upstairs to his childhood bed to sleep for the night and it was missing by morning! Of course it's up there somewhere, but......
