Fleur & Bee Youth Fairy Retinol Moisturizer Review

Fleur & Bee Youth Fairy Retinol Moisturizer is a brand new launch from this wonderfully effective and affordable cruelty-free brand. This rich and nourishing antioxidant cream, which is formulated for all types of skin, features 0.03% retinol to increase skin cell turnover and lighten hyperpigmentation, and plant stem cells to protect and rejuvenate the skin. To offset any of the drying and peeling effects, often associated with retinol-based skincare products, Evening Primrose was selected to moisturize and smooth the skin. Unlike many retinol-based skincare products, Youth Fairy is quite gentle, and I experienced no redness, irritation, itching or peeling. The thick and emollient cream melts into the skin immediately leaving it nourished and luminous. It does take up to 12 weeks to see the full effects of the retinol, but I noticed that my skin was brighter after just a couple of weeks. This cream is also gluten-free and it has no detectable aroma. If you are seeking a gentle retinol, then this is a really nice one to consider.

It should be noted that it is very important to use a high SPF sunscreen, and reapplying it frequently, when using retinol-based products since they remove dead skin cells and leave the skin more vulnerable to the elements. It is also very wise to have your doctor check your moles and any skin irregularities– including, but limited to hyperpigmentation– to make sure that you do not have pre-cancerous lesions or spots, or skin cancer. Since I am not a medical doctor, I would urge you to see your physician to discuss the safety of adding retinol to your routine, and to make sure that none of your skin irregularities need medical attention instead of a skincare product. My doctor is very accustomed to looking over the ingredients in products that I seek to use, and she always carefully checks my skin for anything that might be, or could become, problematic.

According to Fleur & Bee,

The perfect gateway retinol moisturizer, this anti-aging face cream deeply moisturizes while helping you to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin. It works to help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven texture. Packed With: 18 nourishing actives, including 0.03% retinol.

We’ve combined skincare’s most studied and effective ingredient with a host of soothing botanicals to revitalize the skin and reduce the risk of irritation that is common with retinol use. Great results start with great ingredients. We pack this moisturizer with the best that nature and science have to offer. Each powerful  ingredient plays its part in revitalizing your skin so you can look your most youthful.

Retinol is one of the best-researched skincare ingredients and highly effective at increasing cell turnover, targeting signs of aging, and reducing acne, says Matthias Hug, founder of Fleur & Bee. Unfortunately, most products on the market are not designed for people new to retinol and are too harsh. Our goal was to create a formula people with sensitive skin or new to retinol can use.

Evening primrose oil, aloe vera, and squalane help soothe and reduce any potential inflammation caused by introducing retinol into your routine, says Hug. We created a formula that is choke full of quality ingredients that work synergistically to deliver results and nourish your skin.

Directions: Apply every other night until skin adjusts, then use every night. If used during the daytime, follow with SPF. As with most retinol products, it typically takes 12 weeks to see results. Your skin will be instantly hydrated and moisturized with proper application. It is best to avoid use of benzoyl peroxide and AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) when using retinol.

All ingredients used in Youth Fairy are clean, vegan, and cruelty-free. The product is made with renewable wind energy and packaged in 100% recycled post-consumer waste paper.

  1. Ooooh, I love the marigold color. I think this would be a brilliant first retinol moisturizer because it sounds rather gentle and it's packed with natural oils
