  7. Hey Helen I was hoping you could help me I have some questions and it has nothing to do with this post. I am thinking about getting the Sisley black rose oil but I just bought all of the Sunday Riley oils and I'm not sure if and when to use them, I think Juno would be ok for day but mostly they feel like night oils like Luna which has retinol in it. I'm also not sure if I'm supposed to be using that with the good genes every night or alternate them so my question is should I invest in the Sisley black rose oil now that I just purchased all of the Sunday Riley oils or do I not need them all. Coming from a beauty junkie and an oil junkie I assume I do need them but I want to make sure that the Sisley oil has antiaging benefits before I commit to the expense. But I'm thinking I could use the Sisley during the day under makeup for extra anti aging and moisture. I hope this made sense.
    Thank You
    Melissa

    1. Hi Melissa!

The Sisley Black Rose oil is one of the most incredible anti-aging oils that I have ever tried. It has a thinner consistency than the SR oils and sinks in much faster. I don't know that you "need" all of them, but I definitely think that you will fall in love with the Sisley oil once you try it. The only SR oil that is intended for nighttime only, as I recall, is Luna. The others can be used day or night. If you are looking to streamline, then the Sisley oil is definitely an oil that you can use both day and night. There is something truly magical about this oil, and what it does for the skin exceeds results of nearly all of the oils that I have tried. Skin feels like velvet! You don't have to use Good Genes every night unless you want to, or feel the need to– I would choose based upon the needs of your skin at any given moment. :-)

    3. I am so excited for you, Melissa! It is truly one of the best beauty oils that I have EVER tried, and you know I have tried so very many! It is sublime, and truthfully leaves most of the beauty oils out there in the dust! It is elegant and refined, and the effects on the skin are remarkable. The SR oils will seem very thick comparatively. I hope that you are as in love with this oil as I am! Keep me posted! I am doing the happy dance for you!

    4. Hey Helen it came today the Sisley oil. I'm so excited but it says to apply before skincare. So do you apply the oil first then essence Toner, serum and moisturizer or as your last step? So excited to do my skincare tonight

    5. Hey Melissa :-)

I can't begin to express how excited I am for you! That depends, if your serum is lighter then you should apply it first, but if the Sisley is lighter then I would apply it first. Is the Essence toner the one from Algenist? Do you find that it tightens pores and lifts skin? Does it impede the absorption of other products in any way? If so, then I definitely wouldn't use it before the Sisley Oil since you really want to let that soak in as deeply as it can. Please keep me posted– I can't wait to hear what you think. My guess is tha thou will fall madly in love with this outstanding oil!

    6. My nighttime routine is the Sk-ii essence and then the serum either tata Harper or Colbert md and sometimes the good genes treatment then mist and oil and moisturizer but since the Sisley is the lightest I am pretty sure that should go first after cleansing. I used it today and last night it feels beautiful and smells even better. I'm almost done getting all my skincare collection but am still on the hunt for a few more serums. Im thinking maybe the Zelens. Have you heard of Caroline Hirons? Between you and her my skincare game is pretty good now I can't thank you enough

    7. What a lovely selection of products! Yes, I would agree since the Sisley oil is the lightest that it is best to apply it first after cleansing. I knew that you would love it, and am so glad that you do! I am so in love with that oil that there are barely words to express my feelings! I haven't tried the Zelens serum, but I may have a sample of it. I have a sample of their oil, but haven't yet tried it on my face. Yes, I have heard of Caroline Hirons, and have checked out her blog a few times. I'm so glad that between the two of us that you have found a great skincare routine that works for you!

    8. I can think of a couple of serums that you might want to try at some point. I have been using the Verso Face Serum– it has exfoliating properties because of the Retin A, and works much like Good Genes (thought that is Lactic Acid based instead). I am thrilled with the results, and also bought the Verso Eye Serum as well, and have to say that both are amazing! I also really think that Radical Skincare's Youth Infusion Serum is excellent.

Also two serums from The Organic Pharmacy are absolutely extraordinary: Their Rose Plus Brightening complex and their Rose Plus Marine Collagen Complex!

    9. Thank you Helen I'll check out those serums ASAP. I'm ordering the carrot butter from organic pharmacy because I heard it was amazing. All your help has been essential ingredient purchases and I love them all. I can't thank you enough

    10. Absolutely my pleasure, Melissa! I am so touched that you feel as you do, and am thrilled that I have helped you find products that you love so much! I have (and love) The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser. That was an excellent choice, and I think that you will really really love it! <3

  9. Tom Ford has given us another outstanding summer collection. That man really gets it! Wihen the sunny days heat up and the starry nights turn balmy, we want to look like golden goddesses during the day and sultry fixens at night. TF gives us those options in a scrupulously edited collection that never looks cheap or vulgar. I really appreciate that his collections are so focused rather than trying to appeal to everyone. He has a very clear understanding of the TF woman and what she wants in a look.

My order arrived several days ahead of time and I was thrilled. of the eyeshado duos, I only purchased Black Oyster. I already have the three repromoted creams and some celestial shades from other TF quads and trios that will work with Pink Haze and Spice. Spring 2015 is my problem child. I don't have anything that even remotely compares to that gorgeous turquoise celestial shade in the new duo. Hmmmm . . . Anyway, I adore Black Oyster. It is simply stunning! Black Oyster is complex and refined and the celestial shade lets you determine just how much sparkle you want to bring to the party. Simply put, it's a winner :-) I also bought the the cream blush Pink Sand. It's an interesting blusher/highlighter. Depending on how the light hits it, it can look like a luminous warm pink or it can look like a golden pink highlighter. Very cool! I rounded out my collection with Skinny Dip, Rose Soleil ( my favorite of the two), and the travel size of my beloved Terra. Now I'm set for the warm weather season which here in So Cal can be very long.

    1. What a perfect description, as always, Eileen! Your selections reflect my favorites as well! I, too, lack a like shade of turquoise to pair with my Spring 2015 cream shadow. That said, since I already have the single cream shadow I don't want to splurge on the dup just to get that glorious turquoise!

Your selections are perfection to get through our warm So Cal Summer! I'm deciding whether or not to get Pink Sand, but suspect that I will! :-)

    2. LOL! Did I really type "fixens" instead of "vixens"? Although we could regard all our powders and paints as "fixens", I'm going to blame autofil for that one!

The blush is really gorgeous, Helen. It has a slightly moist look to it. One of Sabrina's readers commented that her husband said it made her skin look juicy :-) Juicy, yummy, moist, and sunkissed. If you liked Blush Guilt or Fire Lust, you'll like the effect of this one only Pink Sand is a rosier blush shade.

    3. I caught that, but thought that it was the perfect typo! Fixens, indeed!

I definitely am super tempted by the blush and Black Oyster! I Adore Blush Guilt, and love the idea of Juicy skin! Rosier works for me!

    4. For me, Black Oyster is definitely date night or evenings at the LA Phil as it is quite dramatic. It is like a richer, more finely tuned Mirifique and, of course, the actual quality is better than Chanel's. Because of my age and deep set eyes, I sheer it out over a lighter base. I've been playing with pale lavender, ice blue, and pastel pink, They all give the black the iridescence of South Sea pearls. Very pretty. I then go back and concentrate the color along the upper and lower lash lines and blend it out into the outer V. As a finishing touch, I use my finger to gently press the celestial shade onto the moveable lid. I know, I know, too much information, but sometimes I think women my age are reluctant to try something like Black Oyster; especially if they've seen how some of the young bloggers are working it. Bottom line: Tom Ford knows that much of his demographic consists of older, more affluent women and so there is nothing scary about his approach to shimmer and sparkle. I don't think Black Oyster is for women, though, who don't have occasion to dress up as it really works some serious night time magic.

    5. Black Oyster sounds like the perfect duo for LA Phil date night! I can only just imagine how gorge and elegant it would be on you! Pale lavender, ice blue and pastel pink sound like the perfect cool colors to use in conjunction with the dramatic Black Oyster!

Too much information, are you kidding?! Your detailed description is fantastic, and it is very helpful to a great many people! Thank you!

Tom Ford certainly is aware of his demographic, and her is brilliant in his ability to create collection after collection that acknowledges the needs and desires of the TF woman!
