Sisley Paris Black Rose Precious Face Oil | Review

Purchased by Me (Affiliate Links)

That more and more luxury oils flood the marketplace has become increasingly evident, and the onslaught of new oils with their varied claims can make choosing one a daunting task. While there are excellent oils at all price points, there are likewise mediocre oils across the spectrum. What separates the  superior luxury oils from the rest has not only to do with the quality of the ingredient used, but also how well those oils work together. Furthermore, the texture of the oil and its ability to sink into the skin effectively determines how well it can deliver the benefits to the skin. Finding a highly effective beauty oil that not only delivers on its claims, but that is also a joy to use can be a costly game of trial and error. Some luxury oils, however, quickly distinguish themselves from the over-saturated beauty oil market because their superior quality is immediately evident, and such is the case with Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil.

Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil is an utterly luscious luxury beauty oil that truly has to be experienced in order to understand the extent of its efficacy, and to feel its truly divine texture. It is a silky smooth dry oil that sinks into the skin immediately as a result of its feather-light texture. While this ultra luxe oil was formulated for dry or mature skin, it isn't too rich for normal to combination skin types. My skin is neither dry, nor mature, and I have been truly astounded by the benefits of this oil.
Sisley Paris Black Rose Precious Face Oil is an antioxidant rich anti-aging dry oil that is rich in Omegas 3 and 6, and it offers a very high concentration of active ingredients. This silky-smooth elixir sinks in quickly and deeply nourishes the skin, and one of the most immediately obvious effects is that skin is left feeling like velvet. This luscious velvet rose miracle is a joy to the senses because the tactile effects coupled with the glorious rich rose scent makes its use a truly extraordinary sensory experience.

I apply a few drops of this luxurious oil to my warm and freshly cleansed face, neck and décolleté and it sinks in immediately. My skin is immediately left deeply moisturized and nourished, and it is rendered soft, supple and glowing. Furthermore, my skin appears even in tone, lifted, and my fine lines are softened and plumped.

Suggested use: Apply 3-7 drops in the morning or evening on bare skin, including your face and neck, avoiding the area around the eyes. Use alone or before your daily skincare regimen.
This oil is so extraordinary that it made my Best Luxury Beauty Oils in 2014, and I imagine that it will be on my 2015 list as well!
According to Sisley,

Visibly smooth wrinkles and fine lines while revitalizing your skin and leaving it intensely nourished, supple and soft with Black Rose Precious Face Oil by Sisley Paris. With its high concentration of plant-based active ingredients, including padina pavonica, unsaponifiables of avocado and natural tocopherols, the oil provides the essential elements for your skin’s vitality and youthfulness. Plum and camelina oils maintain your skin’s lipid balance, black rose extract gives your complexion a wonderfully silky softness and essential oils of Bulgarian rose and magnolia have toning and soothing properties.

An essential in the daily care of dry or mature skin, this product contains Black Rose oil and an exquisite combination of essences and natural active ingredients with skin-repairing and stimulating properties.

Instantly, lines are smoothed and skin feels satiny soft without shine. The moisturizing action lasts for 8 hours and the skin is intensively nourished and protected. With regular application, the skin's natural feel and suppleness are restored. After 4 weeks, wrinkles and fine lines are visibly reduced. The skin regains its fullness, and is revitalized and radiant.
This heavenly elixir is pure unadulterated perfection!

  1. I looove this one as well! I am halfway through my bottle and panicking a little about using it up. I personally prefer richer oils even though my skin isn't even dry. This is one o the best I've tried so far :)

    1. It really is truly extraordinary, and I agree with you completely– it really is one of the very best that I have tried as well. It really is amazing on my combination skin, and definitely think that it will work wonders on most skin types. I, too, tend to prefer richer oils! I'm so glad that you love this one as well! :)

  2. OMG, this sounds like heaven! Your review had me completely convinced...but I'll have to save up for quite a while for this one. Nevertheless, next time I'm in Boston I will stop by Neiman Marcus to try it out!

    1. It really is heavenly, Allison! Ask for a sample (or several) so that you can really try it out before committing to the purchase. I suspect that you will fall head-over-heels in love with it! <3

  3. As you know, I adore beauty oils but have a relatively small collection in comparison to yours, dear Helen :-) Of all the oils I've tried over the years, there are only three that I have repurchased: Rodin Olio Lusso, Tatcha Camellia, and this beauty by Sisley. It costs an arm and a leg but I think the efficacy of the oil and its esthetic appeal--velvety texture and devine fragrance--make it worth the splurge. There are certainly lovely and less expensive oils on the market, but this one is definitely "Best in Class".

    1. Not only do I know this, but you and I remain on the same page about our favorite luxury oils. As you know all too well, Rodin Olio Lusso, TATCHA Camellia and Sisley Black Rose are three of my very favorite all-time oils. They are on the very short list of oils that I will repurchase again and again as well. I agree with you that while this is one seriously expensive luxury oil that it is definitely worth the splurge. The velvety texture and divine scent make using this such an extraordinary experience. It is so nourishing, and it makes the skin look and feel so amazing! I agree completely– this one is most definitely "Best in Class".

  4. This just sounds fantastic! I am so so so tempted but terrified--my skin which once again has become textured, dried, scaly, and blotchy. I may just go for it!
How is everything going in LA, my twin? Here is snowed and it got icy but it looks and feels wonderful.
I have no news to report to you my darling except to sight and say that only time will tell. A nice cliche to fill in the gaps.
I am happy and stable these days. I am sending you light and good vibes. I hope you get great news soon. You deserve it!
Many hugs to your lovely ones and to you.

    1. Hello, love! It really is an amazing oil. There are enough places that carry Sisley that you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a couple of samples to try before committing to the purchase. This is one of my very very favorite oils!

I'm sorry that you are still in that unpleasant limbo of waiting! No news here either, though I was warned that this process was going to be protracted. I assume that the case is the same for you! My guess that your skin is misbehaving again from a combination of the stress that all of this waiting has on your system plus the rigor of your job/post-doc. Add to this the winter weather, and you have the perfect storm for rebellious skin! I'm sending you lots of love! Take a deep breath and remember to pamper yourself since there is no way to control all of this other stuff! You are so right about about just resigning yourself to the fact that the process is what it is!

Things are going well here, but it has been a challenging quarter. Students somehow always seem less motivated during Winter Quarter (for whatever reason, but it's certainly not harsh weather), so that is always a bit of a challenge!

I hope that you receive word soon, but am thrilled that you are happy and stable these days! I am likewise sending you light and good vibes! If I hear anything I will be in touch ASAP- you do the same! xoxoxox, Helen

  6. I just wanted to report that when I received the Sisley facial last week, I was told by the professional to use this at night. Then the woman at the counter said it could be used either (and gave me a large sample). So---I will be trying it first at night.

    1. I definitely think that it is a matter of personal preference. I have used it in the morning only, at night only, and then both morning and night, and all three ways gave amazing results! I'm thrilled that they gave you such a generous sample! I suspect that you will love it! I'm utterly smitten with it!

  11. I love face oils and find that it always helps me with my dry skin and eczema. So far I haven't had a flare up in quite a while... but that price is pretty hefty. Though - the packaging... besides the benefits, that packaging has almost sold me.

    1. Me too, and this is a really special face oil, Honey! The price is VERY hefty, but it is such an amazing face oil that I don't regret spending that much money on it! It's so great, in fact, that it is one of the few oils that I will definitely repurchase! I agree, the packaging is gorgeous, but what's inside is what will keep me coming back for more! :-)

  13. Hello, dear Helen! This is so tempting! If you had to recommend just one oil that has had you most impressed (budget not being a factor, let's say), which one would it be? There is just so much choice ;). Have you also tried Luna oil by Sunday Riley? I have heard a lot of buzz on that one lately. Sisley products appear to be such a splurge, but based on what you and Sunny have shared, this oil appears to be quite worth it. Have you tried anything else from Sisley?

I remember having asked you earlier once as to which oils were your favorites for brightening, and your suggestions were spot on :). For regular use, I recently repurchased Tatcha's oil. I like it a lot, because not only it is very nourishing, but it's also very soothing to the senses. I used to blend my own (with rosehip and sea-buckthorn oils). I am also using one Indian ayurvedic oil from Sarada pharmacies, and I like it quite a bit as well.

    1. Hi Musical! This is a truly delectable oil, and absolutely one of the very best that I have used. I have not tried Luna Oil, but for retinol based luxury oils it would take a lot for me to like one better than Colbert MD Illumino! The only other Sisley skincare product that I have is their Eye Contour Mask, and it is quite nice! Their products are unbelievably luxurious and effective.

I'm so glad that my brightening oil suggestions were spot on for you! It's too difficult for me to narrow it down to a single most beloved oil– irrespective of price. I could narrow my list of the Top 14 of 2014 down further though. I would say that my absolute top picks are (alphabetically):
      1) Aftelier Honeysuckle Face Elixir: Utterly delectable and unique. Very nourishing and luxurious!

      2) African Botanics Neroli Infused Marula Oil: Gorgeous oil that is one of my very favorites. Very nourishing and delicious!

      3) Colbert MD Illumino Face Oil: Feather light beauty oil that imparts an unbelievably glow, and the retinol helps turn-over dead skin cells revealing fresh youthful skin!

      4) Rodin Olio Lusso: This is a very healing and nourishing oil with the amazing smell of Jasmine. It's a great hydrator!

      4) Sisley Black Rose Precious Oil: Exceedingly nourishing and hydrating, and it leaves skin soft, supple and feeling like velvet! The rose scent is out of this world!

      5) själ saphir concentrate: a lovely nourishing oil that leaves skin lifted, nourished and unbelievably soft and supple. This one really needs to be tried and experienced– it is very unusual and very comforting.

      6) TATCHA GOLD Camellia Beauty Oil: Soothing, hydrating and utterly luxurious, but you already know how amazing this gold-laden jewel is!

      7) The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Firming Oil: This Orange scented antioxidant rich anti-aging oil is absolutely amazing. They call it their face-lift in a bottle, and it definitely is a heavyweight anti-aging contender. It also seems to stimulate circulation since my skin becomes a touch pink and glowing upon application.

You have a very nice selection of oils! I love that you used to blend your own! :-)

  14. Thank you so much for such a detailed response! I remember your recommendation for the Colbert Oil. It's on my list next once I finish my current retinol serum. I am going to also next randomly choose one of the following: Själ/Sisley/African Botanicals.

Blending oils is fun, but sometimes it's tough to get your hands on the right quality oil. But I think you already know that for sea buckthorn oil, Sibu is really good, and a fantastic budget pick. Aura Cacia has a great tamanu oil, of you are ever interested in trying it out. I found that it helped calm my skin down whenever I had irritated skin.

On that note, if you haven't already, I strongly recommend Tatcha Indigo Body Butter. It's a fantastic healing product for any irritation (post-shaving, rashes, redness, eczema, severe dry skin). Also, I have become a fan of Andalou toners-so soothing and relaxing!

Thank you again for taking the time to pen down such a detailed response! Meow to your fur-babies :).

    1. Absolutely my pleasure, musical! Yes, the Colbert Oil is amazing! It doesn't contain a high percentage of retinol, but definitely enough that you see some benefits. It is the lightest and the most watery of the oils that I have, and it sinks in effortlessly. It also has a light fruity scent, and while it fades quickly it is very pleasant. You can't go wrong with the själ, Sisley or African Botanics oils– each one boasts exceptional quality and efficacy!

I absolutely agree with you about getting your hands on the right quality oils if you are using them to blend your own. At a certain point, I think that it makes sense to find the manufacturers directly so that you can hand select the grade/types. Those selections have been made for you when you acquire them at the retail level in places like health food stores. At a certain point I think that it requires a paradigm shift, and you have to start thinking more like the people who create luxury face oils who seek out the highest quality ingredients to make their oils– because unlike me, they aren't buying there at Whole Foods! Of course many of the people from whom they buy likely have minimum orders that exceed what people like you and me might be looking to purchase!

I agree that the Sibu Buckthorn Oil is really good. I have a few oils from Aura Cacia and really like their quality, but I haven't tried their tamanu oil, and will certainly add it to my list. It's good to know that it has calmed your skin right down when it is irritated! That certainly makes it well worth having on hand! Do you leave it in the plastic bottle,or do you decant into glass?

Ahhhhh yes, The TATCHA Indigo Body Butter is utterly sublime! I have a deluxe sample that I am savoring, but will definitely have to replace with a full size tub! I had a little bug bite on my arm or hand that was angry and red, and this miraculous cream knocked down the inflammation immediately! I have not tried the Andalou toners, but now will definitely look into them!

You are very very welcome– it was absolutely my pleasure! <3
