Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

The Makeup Wars Team is sharing our favorite nail treatment products, and my favorite products to pamper my hands, nails and cuticles have been the following ultra-luxurious gems from Lauren B. Beauty. I should note that most of the time my nails are bare, but that doesn't mean that I ignore my nails, cuticles and hands.

Lauren B. Beauty products are made in the U.S.A. and they are never tested on animals. Furthermore, everything that they create is vegan-friendly, and free of harsh chemicals such as: formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, formaldehyde resin and camphor.
Here are my current favorites:
Lauren B. Polishing Hand Scrub ($20.00 for 2 oz. from Lauren B. Beauty): This nourishing hand scrub, which has a warm botanical aroma, is formulated with micro oil beads that gently remove dead skin cells without stripping the skin. In fact, the formula is itself so hydrating that you can actually forgo a hand cream if you so choose. If a hydrating exfoliant is something that you have sought, then you really need to try this non-greasy, and ultra-nourishing treat for the hands.
According to Lauren B.,

Lauren B. Beauty Hand Scrub – an eco-friendly exfoliator, potent anti-ager, and hydrator in one. Brighten, soothe, heal chapping and protect agains environmental damage. Vitamin E, Aloe Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Swiss-derived Green apple stem cells combine to revive and smooth the thin skin on your hands.
Lauren B. Nail & Cuticle Balm ($30.00 for 0.5oz. from Lauren B. Beauty): This Nail & Cuticle Balm, which is more of a light oil-based liquid that dispenses through a twist and click pen, instantly hydrates and heals cuticles. It is very easy to use, and very effective.

According to Lauren B.,

This rich hydrator absorbs instantly to restore parched, straggly cuticles to their prime. Our advanced amino acid complex and biotin promotes healing; sweet almond oil, mango & shea butter, and Vitamin E add moisture; and beeswax creates a water-resistant barrier for extra protection. I love dramatic, and fun, holiday makeup– especially for New Years Eve, but let's face it that is hardly the type of makeup that most of us would wear during the rest of the year. For that very reason, and because I am a pragmatist by nature, I see no reason to splurge on expensive luxury makeup for these occasions. Instead, I seek viable alternatives in the aisles of my favorite drugstores.

For a dramatic, and festive, palette of colors plums and grays definitely deliver, and you can find what you need from Rimmel London and Sally Hansen. Here are a few of my current favorites for your perusal.

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Stick in 004 Guilty Grey ($3.79- $4.99 for 0.11 oz. from Walgreens, Harmon, and Walmart): I love this formula, the silky smooth cream eyeshadows glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly and have enviable color payoff. Guilty Grey is a gorgeous shimmering gunmetal gray that can be used as an all-over the lid color or as a liner.

If you're going to create nail art for Halloween, then Skyy Hadley has fantastic tips to recreate  this wicked-cool Halloween nail art (Shown above. Picture provided courtesy of PR).

Skyy recommends doing your nails the day before Halloween at home and giving yourself 45 minute to an hour of time to complete it. Follow Skyy’s DIY stiletto nail tutorial:

1) Sanitize hands and nails.
2) Start out with a square nail by clipping your nail straight across.
3) Clip the uppermost portion of the two sides diagonally into a triangle.
4) With a file, focus on curving the sides evenly to get a teardrop shape that softens the triangle.
5) Whatever you do on one side, do on the other side. For example: If you do three files on one side, do three files on the other so that it looks symmetrical.

Overall Assessment: Have fun with your Halloween mani!
