Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast Iron Cassadou 3.75 Quart Pan

(Affiliate Links)

I have been obsessed with the Le Creuset Signature Cassadou pot ever since I saw it at my friend's house. I have used it countless times when we cook together, and it is his most-used and most beloved Le Creuset pot. In fact, he uses it so often that it lives on his stovetop. The daunting price tag, which is $365.00, has been the reason that I haven't yet purchased it, but now it is on sale for $219.00 in honor of Le Creuset's 100th anniversary (Established in France in 1925). Now my only issue is trying to select a color!
According to Le Creuset,

A traditional design from Le Creuset’s archives, the Signature Round Cassadou was inspired by Provencal hunters and the stews they would prepare from the day’s catch. Now updated for the modern kitchen, the enameled cast iron Cassadou acts as a deep sauté pan or small Dutch oven with a convenient handle for easy maneuvering from stove to oven to table. With a wide surface area, it’s ideal for everything from searing and simmering to frying, stir-fries, one pot meals and more. Crafted from our legendary enameled cast iron, the Cassadou has exceptional heat distribution and retention qualities to lock in flavor and keep dishes warm or cold. The colorful enameled surface minimizes sticking and staining, requires no pre-seasoning and is easy to clean.

Features:

  • Enameled cast iron delivers superior heat distribution and retention
  • Ready to use, requires no seasoning
  • Easy-to-clean and durable enamel resists dulling, staining, chipping and cracking
  • Light colored smooth interior enamel allows easy monitoring of cooking progress
  • Tight-fitting lids are specially designed to circulate steam and return moisture back to the food
  • Ergonomic knobs and handles are designed for easy lifting
  • Lightest weight cast iron by quart on the market
  • Compatible with all cooktops and oven-safe up to 500°F
  • Safe for dishwasher

Care & Use:
  • Suitable for all stovetops, including induction
  • Oven-safe up to 500°F
  • Dishwasher-safe (hand washing recommended)

Le Creuset suggests that it is good for making: beef stew, no-knead bread, roast chicken, fried chicken, soups, stews and mashed potatoes. My friend also uses it for one-pot meals, pasta sauces, vegetables and just about anything else he cooks on the stove top, and the oven.
The 3.75 quart size is remarkably spacious and can easily feed 5 or more people.
Available Colors on the Le Creuset website
Le Creuset is currently offering an exclusive gift with purchase: Spend $250.00 and receive: Free Silicone Accessories Set with $250 Purchase USE CODE: FALLGIFT

This special is exclusive to Le Creuset's website, and not their authorized retailers (such as Amazon).
Overall Assessment: I am leaning toward Flame (the variegated orange color) since it is a Le Creuset classic, but there are so many beautiful choices. I spoke to someone at Le Creuset and they told me that this sale price, in honor of their 100th anniversary, will last until the end of the year.

Le Creuset Craft Series 5-Piece Utensil Set On Sale!

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

I am a huge fan of Le Creuset– particularly their enameled cast iron pots and pans made in France– and I always check for legitimately good sales. I had been eyeing their silicone tool set in a ceramic crock for a while, and I noticed that many retailers– including Le Creuset– have them on sale for $69.99 (regular price $89.00), and other retailers likely put the set on sale since Le Creuset is currently offering lots of products on sale to celebrate their 100th anniversary (they were founded in France in 1925). However, I located an even better deal since Nordstrom and Amazon are currently selling the Caribbean set– which is being retired– for $56.00. Therefore, I bought the Caribbean set without any hesitation (plus I had a gift card to cash in).

Le Creuset Craft Series 5-Piece Utensil Set (Regularly $89.00 on sale for $69.99, but Nordstrom and Amazon are selling the discontinued Caribbean color for $56.00). I am so happy that I purchased this set, at a much better discount than I expected, and the color is simply gorgeous. I have seen some of their pots in this color in person, and it really is stunning. My only regret is that they are retiring this beautiful color, but there are still products available in Caribbean, and they are generally 20% off.

What is remarkable, in my view, is the fact that all of the silicone heads are easily removed from their wooden handles, and that makes it easy to clean them in the dishwasher without destroying the handles over time. They are solid and of excellent quality, as is the stoneware crock.

According to Le Creuset,

Our set contains four essential tools from legendary cookware maker Le Creuset, along with a signature Le Creuset crock to keep them on the countertop. Pairing heat-resistant silicone heads with beautifully turned wood handles, this set makes a superb gift for cooks and Le Creuset collectors.

Contents and Claims:

  • Set includes small and medium spatulas, spoonula, basting brush and stoneware crock.
  • Tool heads are molded from flexible, durable silicone; heat-resistant to 480°F.
  • Silicone resists stains and will not absorb odors or flavors.
  • Solid wood handles are shaped for superior comfort and control.
  • Safe for use with nonstick cookware.
  • Dishwasher-safe heads remove for easy cleaning.
  • Crock colors coordinate with Le Creuset cookware.

Use: Safe for use with nonstick cookware. Heat-resistant to 480°F.

Care: Removable heads are dishwasher safe. Hand-wash wood handles.

Dimensions:
  • Small Spatula: 12" long.
  • Medium Spatula: 12 1/2" long.
  • Spoonula: 12 1/2" long.
  • Basting Brush: 11 1/2" long.
  • Storage Crock: 4 1/2" diameter, 6 1/4" high.

Overall Assessment: This was an excellent purchase, and if you want a deeper discount, I highly recommend the set in Caribbean! A+ purchase!

$56.00 for Caribbean from Nordstrom and Amazon. $69.99 (Regular price $89.00) for the other colors from Le Creuset, Nordstrom, Amazon, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Sur La Table and Williams Sonoma is $89.00 (Affiliate Links). Purchased. All views expressed are categorically my own.

Le Creuset Mini Stoneware Cocotte in Flame

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

Le Creuset Mini Stoneware Cocottes are wonderful for making single serving dishes, and these stunning little 8 oz. cocottes are oven to table perfect. They are safe for the refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, broiler, dishwasher and can be used with metal utensils. It also makes the perfect lidded salt cellars that are stylish and fun. I selected Flame because it is such a quintessential classic Le Creuset shade. I actually purchased it as a salt cellar, but now I am thinking about buying a few more to cook with them. They are perfect for making: Molten Chocolate Cake, Mini Mac and Cheese, Ice Cream Sundaes, Individual Chicken Pot Pies, Berry Crumbles and so many other dishes. Unlike Le Creuset's enameled cast iron cookware, which is made in France, these stoneware cocottes are made in Thailand.

Not only do individual servings create an elegant presentation at the table, but recipes bake faster in the smaller sized dish making them ideal for serving a crowd. Cocottes are also versatile for prepping and storing ingredients or a decorative way to add a splash of color and Le Creuset style to your kitchen.

My Le Creuset Obsessions Just in Time for Valentine's Day

(Affiliate Links)

I know that I have mentioned this before, but I have had a French cookware and bakeware obsession since I can remember. When I got my first apartment, after moving out of our family home, I saved up enough money to purchase a full Le Creuset set on sale from Macy's, and since that time my obsession grew to include Staub, Mauviel and Emile Henry. There are two specialty pieces of Le Creuset cookware that I have wanted, but have resisted buying, as long as I can remember.

The first one is the Le Creuset Pâté Terrine (shown above), and I neither make pâté, nor do I often eat it. However, it is perfect for making any sort of terrine, meatloaf, certain breads and even custards. It is undoubtedly a frivolous purchase, because I really don't need it, but I would covet it, and use it. I remember first seeing one when I was a teenager when I went to Williams Sonoma with my mom. Something about this beautiful vessel resonated with me, and I actually had to go pick it up and give it a closer look. Ever since then, I have always looked at them whenever I see them, and the longing to own one has never abated.

My other obsession is the Le Creuset Heart Cocotte that I posted last year. I would frequently look at my post, and nearly purchased the pink version, but didn't. As luck would have it, when I finally decided to buy it everyone was sold out, and since that is a seasonal item, I knew that I would have to wait until Valentine's Day promotions for 2023 began. Now here we are, and they are only offering them in Cerise and Black. Normally, I would forget about this lovely little pot, but one of my closest friends has one, and loves it, and therefore I am reminded of it often.

Overall Assessment: Will I cave and buy either one of these this year? I don't know, but free shipping from Nordstrom, plus triple points, and some Nordstrom Notes to cash in could sway my decision! Is there anything that you have wanted, but have resisted purchasing for many years because you really don't need it?

Le Creuset Pâté Terrine $225.00 (1.5 qt.) from Le Creuset, Williams Sonoma, and Nordstrom.

Le Creuset Heart Cocotte $220.00 (2 qt.) from Le Creuset, Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's (Affiliate Links).
