I am a longstanding proponent of healthier deodorants, and have been using them since I was a teenager. Though I have occasionally used mainstream deodorants, I do prefer to avoid the chemicals. LAVANILA makes wonderful healthy deodorants that are effective and smell wonderful (though they also make an unscented variant for sensitive skin). Their Vanilla Grapefruit scent is probably my favorite because it smells utterly scrumptious, and offers long-lasting protection.

Longtime readers are surely aware that I use LAVANILA all year long, but there is just something about their fresh and healthy body care products that are so perfectly suited to the warm summer months. If you have yet to try their products, or if you haven't used them in a long time, then I highly recommend giving their products a try this summer. Here are a few of my current favorites that I have been using with great regularity these days.

LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla + Water for Peace ($14.00 for 2 oz. from LAVANILA, Ulta and Sephora): My go-to daily deodorant has been LAVANILA The Healthy Deodorant for many years now, and I love them more than I can begin to describe. They are healthy, devoid of harmful ingredients, they smell lovely and they are very effective. Furthermore, they neither stain clothing, nor do they leave a white residue on the skin. They are, in a word, perfection.

The new LAVANILA Elements Collection, which is available at Sephora, is a, "collection of fresh, energizing deodorants where health and wellness collide." LAVANILA sought inspiration from the "core elements of nature — Air, Water and Earth" and these aluminum-free deodorants are "infused with carefully curated blends of pure essential oils to awaken our connection to the Elements and the immense power within them." I love all three of their new scents, but lately I have been wearing Vanilla + Water for Peace because I just can't get enough of the Chamomile and Jasmine aroma on these warm summer days.

Vanilla + Air for Creativity: "An uplifting, floral pairing of violet and rose, perfect for a budding artist or brainstorming session." This lovely light floral has a beautiful floral aroma that is punctuated by rose and violet, but it is neither too strong or sweet, nor is it powdery. Instead, the lovely fragrance sits close to the skin and has a refined and elegant floral scent.

Vanilla + Water for Peace: "A calming blend of chamomile and jasmine ideal for yoga class or stressful meetings." This deodorant has such an extraordinary aroma that is best described as a sweet floral reminiscent of a warm ocean breeze infused with Jasmine and other light florals.

Vanilla + Earth for Balance: "A warm and woody combination of patchouli and sandalwood that enhances focus and concentration." While its description might summon thoughts of a heavy woody scent punctuated by a pungent patchouli, this is a light, sweet and creamy woodsy scent infused with warm florals, and without any detectable notes from the patchouli. It has a depth and yet it isn't in the least bit overpowering.

Overall Assessment: I couldn't be happier with these tried and true LAVANILA picks, and the aforementioned products are my current summertime favorites.

Since the winter is giving way to the spring, this is the perfect time to select refreshing fragrances to welcome in the warm weather. Lately I have been reaching for my LAVANILA Vanilla Lavender and Vanilla Grapefruit Fragrances because they are refreshing, exhilarating and utterly delectable. In fact, each time that I wear either of these two fragrances people give me such high praise for smelling so good. They both sit close to the skin, and they boast impressive longevity.

TerraNova Fig + Sambac Perfume Essence | Top Earth Day Pick

I  am such a big fan of TerraNova, and I have been utterly delighted by every one of their products that I have tried. My most recent obsession from them is their Fig + Sambac Perfume Essence– which is a delectable alcohol-free perfume oil.

Fig + Sambac Perfume Essence is described as a "fabulous, Mediterranean inspired perfume" that  "embodies luscious, ripe Grecian figs and intoxicating Jasmine Sambac vines, entwined in earthy cedar and vetiver for exquisite wearability."  They further assert that its effect is "sweet and delicious, yet rich and seductive." On my skin, Fig + Sambac reads as a citrusy-floral that is simultaneously warm and tangy. Upon dry down, it sits close to the skin and the edges round out, and it becomes a light and slightly spicy floral. Make no mistake about it though, it is the perfect scent for the spring and summer.
