Herbivore Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Mask | Review

Gift with Purchase (Affiliate Links)

Herbivore Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Mask is one of my most recent discoveries from their lovely natural skincare line, and I am quite impressed by its efficacy. I received this deluxe sample as a bundled gift with purchase recently, and I like it so much that I plan to purchase it once I finish up a few of my other exfoliating masks.

This mask contains Pineapple and Papaya Enzymes in conjunction with Rice Powder and Brazilian Tourmaline to exfoliate dead skin cells. The Enzymes gently dissolve and exfoliate skin cells while the micronized Rice Powder and Tourmaline dislodge and sweep away the exfoliated skin. Because it is such an effective exfoliator, Herbivore suggests that this mask should only be used at night, and followed by a an SPF to protect the skin each day– which I strictly adhere to.

The consistency is a gel-like cream that is light and very easy to apply, and it is quite pleasant to use. I simply apply a thin layer and leave it on for about 15 minutes, or until it has thoroughly dried, and then I rinse it off with warm water. If you have very sensitive skin, you will not want to leave it on nearly as long. It is filled with potent actives, and it does tingle a bit, but on my skin it is neither painful, nor unpleasant. I would definitely recommend getting a sample if you have particularly sensitive skin, and spot test it for a very short duration to see if it is too active for your skin.

Once I remove the mask, I note the my skin is slightly flushed, but only for a few minutes. Skin is left thoroughly cleansed, exfoliated, hydrated, soft, silky smooth and luminous.

According to Herbivore,

A truly natural radiance mask featuring Rice Powder and Pineapple Enzymes to smooth and brighten skin, plus micronized Brazilian Tourmaline gemstone to give a glowing complexion.

Additionally, they are concentrated blends containing no fillers and using the minimum amount of ingredients necessary to achieve the maximum results.

Directions: Apply a thin layer to clean skin. Slight tingling is normal with this mask as it works to brighten and exfoliate the skin. Leave on 15–20 minutes or until mask is completely dry. Rinse with warm water. Sensitive skin: Leave on 5 minutes and rinse with warm water. For the first three nights, use nightly. After the third night, use 2–3 nights per week.

Tips: Only use this mask at night as you do not want to expose skin to sunlight directly following use. Use SPF during the day after using this mask to maintain results and avoid sun damage. Slight to moderate tingling is normal with this mask.

  2. The Herbivore Mask sounds wonderful. Is there any pineapple scent at all? I would love it even more if it did!

    1. It is, and very thing that i has tried from the brand has really impressed me. I detect a slight sweetness, but it doesn't really smell like pineapple to me.

    1. It is impressive. It's definitely worth considering once you get through some of your masks. You can probably also gt a sample from Sephora or Nordstrom to see whether you like it enough to buy the full size jar.
