RoC Skincare has partnered with the independent research firm Sperling’s Best Places for the 2016 RoC Wrinkle Ranking. This city by city look at metropolitan areas and their risks for skin damage and premature aging by the year 2040 studied data in these regions that are commonly known to adversely affect skin health– lifestyle, occupational and environmental influences.

According to RoC,

The third annual RoC® Wrinkle Ranking (see more information HERE) predicts that in the year 2040, Philadelphia will reign as the most wrinkle-prone city in America, thanks to high stress levels, more airborne pollution, lengthy commute times and higher than average smoking rates. On the other end of the spectrum, San Jose will claim the least wrinkle-prone title in 2040, due to its shorter commute time, smaller population size and anticipated shift toward a wetter climate.

Following is the full ranking:

WRINKLE(S) IN THE FINDINGS:

Big City Blues: "Large metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York City will continue to round out the top 10 most wrinkle-prone metro areas due to their extreme urban environments, including more congested commuting and lower air quality."

Thank You for Not Smoking: "Smoking rates are predicted to approach zero in 35 of the 50 cities ranked, which will decrease overall rates of premature fine lines and wrinkles. However, Nashville, St. Louis and Kansas City are expected to retain smoking rates significantly higher than the rest of the country – leaving residents of these cities more at risk."

Heat Makes Waves: "Higher temperatures along with less precipitation will increase the risk of wrinkles in certain areas such as the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Meanwhile, Texan residents, beware of drier skin as cities such as Dallas, Houston and San Antonio will see the greatest decrease in average annual precipitation."

“Our skin is a canvas that reveals a lifetime of environmental influences, behavioral choices and genetics,” said architect and urban futurist Dr. Cindy Frewen. “While our lifestyle choices are reflected in our faces, there’s no need to necessarily relocate just yet – there are variables studied in the Wrinkle Ranking that are within your control - from smoking and commuting to protecting your skin with sunscreen, serums and moisturizers.”
About the RoC® Skincare Wrinkle Ranking:

To determine the metropolitan areas where residents’ skin are most at risk from damage by their lifestyle and environment in the year 2040, RoC® Skincare and Sperling’s Best Places performed a meta-analysis, which combines the findings of original research with existing related research in the field of the study. All data was adjusted by the current population to arrive at 'per capita' figures, providing an accurate comparison between cities of varying sizes. Each metropolitan area in the study received points for each of the criteria based on their relation to the other metropolitan areas’ scores in that data category, and category scores were weighted and aggregated to determine an overall 'Wrinkle Index' score to rank the top U.S. metro areas.

RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum ($24.99 from CVSUlta, Kmart, Target, Amazon and Walgreens): While I do not have deep wrinkles, I do have some fine expression lines, and I love using retinol-based products to soften their appearance and speed up dead skin turnover. Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum is a lightweight, silky serum that sinks into the skin immediately, leaving it hydrated while reducing the appearance of expression lines and deep wrinkles. It is formulated with DMAE to which effectively tightens, lifts and firms skin. Skin is also left with a beautiful, youthful glow, and it neither irritates my skin, nor causes it to visibly peel.

According to RoC,

This light-weight RoC RETINOL formula helps to improve the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles. After four weeks, skin appears more radiant, fine lines are smoothed and skin firmness is improved. After eight weeks, crow’s feet are visibly reduced and discoloration is diminished. After 12 weeks, deep wrinkles are visibly reduced. This formula glides on easily and absorbs quickly, leaving your skin feeling smooth and velvety and is ideal for use under makeup.

Directions: Use once or twice a day in the AM and/or PM. Cleanse skin and allow time to dry. Smooth product over face and neck allowing product to absorb completely. You may experience a slight tingling or tightness during use. This is normal and is a sign that the product is working. Follow with a gentle moisturizer or makeup if desired. If applying an additional moisturizer, use one free of Retinol or Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher during the day while using this product. Continue using sunscreen for one week after stopping use.

Precautions: Discontinue use if skin irritation develops and lasts. When using this product, avoid getting into eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
