SMASHBOX Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Violetta | Review and Swatches #Smashbox

As I have mentioned numerous times in these virtual pages, I have always favored eye liner pencils above all other forms of eye makeup. They are easy to use, take no time to apply, and good one's stay put until you remove them.

I have sensitive eyes, and therefore I tend to choose non-waterproof formulas since they tend to be more gentle, but SMASHBOX Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Violetta was quite the surprise in that it neither irritated my eyes, nor did it take tremendous effort to remove. The formula is creamy, it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits color evenly, and it doesn't tug on the skin in the least bit. It neither transfers and migrates, nor does it flake off.

The innovative design self-sharpens each time that you twist the cap off, assuring that you have a nice pointed tip with each use.

If you have been seeking an alternative to your standard black or brown eyeliner pencil, then Violetta is a truly gorgeous choice. It is a blackened plum that is neither too purple, nor does it have a red-undertone that can make eyes look tired. It is a gorgeous and infinitely wearable shade that has unquestionably won me over.
According to SMASHBOX,

On a photo shoot, the crew can't wait around while makeup artists sharpen their pencils. That's why we developed this award-winning kohl eye liner, which self-sharpens automatically every time you twist off the cap. The high-impact, waterproof formula is packed with pigment. It's a precise pencil liner that performs like a liquid. Save time—and keep your eye makeup look totally on point!

  1. I have recently switched to the new 'marker-like' eye liners. They have staying power, but not super staying power and they do tend to migrate a bit on my oily eye lids--even with primer. I have always loved blackened-plum liners (and haven't found one in the markers) so I would definitely give this a try. Do you usually have an issue with migration?

    1. I do not usually have a problem with migration– unless the formula is too creamy and smudgey. I don't have very oily lids, but I often set my eye liners pencils with a like-colored powder shadow. You might try that in conjunction with your primer, and you should be able to get longer wear out of the liners that you have. I definitely recommend trying this formula, and I think that you will really like this particular shade. I have worn it every single day for weeks!
