TATCHA INDIGO Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

TATCHA is such a special brand, and their ultra-luxe products are among my favorite indulgences. Their Rice Enzyme Powder cleansers are exemplary, and I have been using, and loving, their Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (Reviewed HERE) for several years. I was thrilled when presented with the opportunity to try their TATCHA INDIGO Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin, and while my skin can be sensitive at times it is not sensitive per se, and yet this now ranks among my all-time favorite cleansers. In fact their entire INDIGO line is one of the greatest pleasures to use, and  their INDIGO Soothing Triple Recovery Cream (Reviewed HERE) is one of my very favorite and-aging face creams. Furthermore, the INDIGO Hand Cream and Body Butter (both reviewed HERE) are sublime skin treats whether or not you have irritable, sensitive skin.
TATCHA INDIGO Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin is a water-activated exfoliating and toning powder cleanser that is formulated for sensitive skin, but it can be used by a wider variety of skin types. The Colloidal Oatmeal-laden formula is remarkably soothing and calming on irritated, inflamed skin, and yet it boasts extraordinary efficacy in its ability to exfoliate dead skin cells. What is remarkable is the precision with which it is able to exfoliate without irritating sensitive skin.

Simply add a small amount of water to the powder to achieve your desired consistency and then rub your hands together until you have created a creamy foam, and then gently massage it, in a circular motion, on your face, neck and décolleté for about 10-20 seconds. Skin is left unbelievably velvety soft, silky smooth, supple and luminous. This is the perfect way for people with sensitive skin to enjoy the benefits of exfoliation and deep cleansing– without stripping or irritating the skin.

According to TATCHA, INDIGO Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder is,

A water-activated enzyme powder exfoliant and cleanser of Rice Bran, Indigo extract, Colloidal Oatmeal and our anti-aging HADASEI-3™ Complex. Reveals skin's natural gleam.

Exfoliates and tones without harsh abrasives for smooth, bright, baby-soft skin. The second step in our signature Kyoto Cleanse.

For sensitive skin, created with Colloidal Oatmeal to help soothe easily irritated and inflamed skin. Non-irritating. Non-sensitizing. Dermatologist tested.

Directions: Begin with wet hands and a wet face. Pour about half a teaspoon into hands, add water and rub hands together to create a creamy foam. Massage gently onto a wet face in circular motions for 10-20 seconds, avoiding eyes. Rinse and revel in your soft, smooth skin.

Ingredients: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Potassium Myristate, Polygonum Tinctorium (Japanese Indigo) Leaf/Stem Extract, Indigofera Tinctoria Leaf Extract, Colloidal Oatmeal, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Conchiolin (Pearl) Protein, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran, Algae Extract, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Carbonate, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide, Mica, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.
Overall Assessment: If you have sensitive skin, then TATCHA INDIGO Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin is definitely something that you should consider trying, and thankfully TATCHA makes a travel size to try out before committing to the full size. I will most definitely buy a replacement jar as soon as I finish this one up!

  2. This is the one I use. It's so gentle I don't even understand how it is effective. But it is.

    1. I know, it's pretty magical! It seems antithetical that something could simultaneously be SO GENTLE, and yet so effective in its ability to exfoliate without any irritation! This is definitely my favorite one, and it pairs so well with the INDIGO Soothing Triple Recovery Cream. People don't realize that it is a superb anti-aging cream, and you don't need to have sensitive skin to reap the benefits!

    2. I remember you saying that before. Isn't it an absolutely amazing cream. As you know, all too well, the INDIGO line is really special!l

  3. I've tried the regular rice enzyme powder by Tatcha, and I don't know what it is about it but I'm just not a fan of the product. It's not that it didn't work fine, I think I just don't like the whole powder + water thing... I just prefer a cleansing product to be liquidy and come out of a pump, haha. That being said, Tatcha makes a ton of products I really love!

    1. Hi Chelsea,

Then this one definitely isn't for you. Certainly there is a level of convenience hat one gets with liquid and cream products that come already mixed, but the results that I get with the TATCHA Powder cleansers is remarkable! I agree with you about TATCHA, the have so many amazing products!

  5. I l9ve this product, and no Tatcha product has disappointed me. I saw an interview where Vicki Tsai, the fouñder, recommended mixing some of the enzyme polish powder with the cleansing oil as a deeper facial gommage every couple of weeks. I have tried that method, and it is just wonderful that way!

    1. I love it too, and I feel the same I have never ben disappointed by a TATCHA product– even great lines come out with the occasional dud, but not TATCHA! What a great tip from Vicki. I met her at an event, and what a truly lovely and inspiring human she is! I will have to try this method– thank you so much for sharing it with me!

    1. I do too, but this is my favorite of the two. It is so gentle, but has all of the power to cleanse and exfoliate that you are accustomed to, but is so kind to sensitive skin. The whole INDIGO line is absolutely miraculous!
