In the last few years I have received so many emails asking about recommendations for mineral sunscreens products that are healthy for the body and the environment– that I have kept my ear to the ground in an effort to introduce you to excellent quality healthy alternatives to their mainstream, chemical-laden counterparts. One of my favorite discoveries is All Good by Elemental Herbs, and their products are so effective, healthy, and affordable.

About All Good:

All Good by Elemental Herbs offers a collection of all-natural skincare products made from plant-based ingredients. From chemical-free zinc sunscreens and sore muscle recovery spray to silky smooth lip balms, lotions and coconut oils, All Good supports an active, healthy lifestyle with their organically grown formulas.

As consumers wise up to chemical-laden beauty and grooming products, I wanted to introduce you to California-based All Good by Elemental Herbs, makers of safe and pure skincare products. With their farm and offices located in Morro Bay, CA, All Good takes a minimalist approach to producing plant-based, effective skincare and sunscreens that soothe, protect, restore and heal. Sun Protection Measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a Broad Spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in sun, especially from 10am-2pm. Wear long sleeved shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses.

I am something of a lip balm fanatic, and tend to use them throughout the day when I need a little moisture, but also tend to use them as bases for lipstick and lip gloss as well. I really like using lip balms with some SPF since shiny lipsticks  and glosses tend to attract the sun, and therefore added protection is imperative.

According to All Good,

Whether you need a little hydration or a lot of protection, our lip balms is formulated to keep your lips soft and smooth with the most natural, safest ingredients. All SPF flavors are oxybenzone free.

All Good Lips SPF15 - Tangerine ($3.50 for 4.25 g. from All Good Products): This is an ultra hydrating lip balm with a light and refreshing tangerine scent. It is emollient, but not so much so that it slides off of the lips quickly, and it definitely serves as a good base for lipsticks. I reapply it frequently when I am outdoors in order to maintain the efficacy of the SPF.

Whether you need a little hydration or a lot of protection, our lip balms is formulated to keep your lips soft and smooth with the most natural, safest ingredients. All SPF flavors are oxybenzone free.

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 2% (Non-nanoparticle). Additional Ingredients: Organic Calendula*, Organic Comfrey*, Organic Lavender*, Organic Plantain* and Organic Yarrow* Infused in Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil* with Organic Beeswax*, Organic Tangerine Essential Oil* and Non-GMO Vitamin E. *Certified Organic by USDA/NOP. GLUTEN FREE.

All Good Lips - Coconut SPF20 ($3.50 for 4.25 g. from All Good Products): This is a really great lip balm choice if you are active in the sun. The 8% Zinc Oxide offers better sun protection than the tangerine lip balm, and the wear-time is a bit better as well as it seems to cling to the lips longer.

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 8.0% (Non-nanoparticle). Additional Ingredients:  Organic Calendula*, Organic Comfrey*, Organic Lavender*, Organic Plantain* and Organic Yarrow* Infused in Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil*, Organic Beeswax*, Organic Castor Oil*, Raspberry Seed Oil, Organic Coconut Flavor*, Non-GMO Vitamin E.*Certified Organic to USDA/NOP Standards.
GLUTEN FREE.
Overall Assessment: Perfect choices for active outdoor activities that require superior sun protection.

    1. Hi Cindy,

Of the water-resistant sunscreens that I just reviewed, I would say that I reach for the Obagi Sun Shield Mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 50 the most because it has a higher SPF. I am a huge fan of the sunscreens made by Obagi, and in fact his Oclipse line is one of my favorite sunscreens of all time. For me, it's right up there with the one from Radical and Tatcha! :-)
