Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

I get so many emails requesting recommendations for luxurious, yet budget friendly, beauty oils, and I am always thrilled to be able to feature such great finds.

My most recent budget-friendly luxurious beauty oil is Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil, and as the name suggests– this is a antioxidant-rich anti-aging oil, and it is deeply moisturizing and nourishing. It has a lightweight texture that is remarkably fast-absorbing, and when applied to warm slightly damp skin it absorbs immediately. It leaves behind no oily residue, and it imparts a gorgeous healthy glow. In addition to healthy luminous skin, one notices that fine lines are plumped, skin is beautifully hydrated, and over time photo damage is diminished.

In addition to an enviable list of natural active ingredients, Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil has the delectable smell that might be described an unassuming citrus that isn't in the least bit overpowering.

I can use this luxurious beauty oil day or night, or both, and my normal/combination skin feels soft, smooth, supple and luminous whenever I use it. I also love to add a drop or two to my foundations, tinted moisturizers and BB and CC creams for a dewy luminous finish.

According to Mad Hippie,

Make peace with your inner hippie while hydrating & protecting against photoaging….Our preservative-free antioxidant oil is truly the most natural way to moisturize.

Genuine flower power, natural antioxidants and active essentials work hand in hand to liberate the skin from signs of aging.  By leaving out harmful chemicals, parabens, synthetic color and fragrance, Mad Hippie helps your skin achieve true harmony.

Camu Camu Berry: Amazonian berry with 30x the vitamin C of an orange.

Broccoli Extract: A recent study at John Hopkins found that broccoli extract applied topically reduced UV induced redness & inflammation by an average of 37%.  This is thought to be a result of the sulforaphane found in broccoli.

Raspberry Seed Extract: High in antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin A, and omega fatty acids 3 & 6, raspberry seed extract is also know for its anti-inflammatory and anti-septic qualities.  High in ellagic acid, a natural polyphenol, raspberry seed extract provides UV protective benefits, while protecting the skin from damaging free radicals.

  1. Several days ago I posted asking you to compare this to other oils you have reviewed such as Tatcha, African Botanics and Sisley. Not sure where (all) my posts went but they don't seem to have posted that day.

    1. The ingredients used are so different between each of these beauty oils that it's a bit too hard to compare. If they shared the same ingredients then it would be easier to evaluate and compare them side by side. I will say, however, that for an affordably priced oil, Mad Hippie is remarkably effective, nourishing and pleasant to use. It gives the skin great moisture and it is lightweight and fast absorbing. It definitely is a very potent antioxidant-rich anti-aging oil that plumps fine lines and evens skin tone. Your local Whole Foods probably has it, and I would definitely encourage you to test it out on your hand, and check out their eye cream (that I just reviewed) while you are there! It's always nice to find lovely skincare products that are so affordable!

    1. Definitely take some time to check out their whole line the next time that you go grocery shopping. So far, I am very impressed! I definitely love the oil and eye cream enough to purchase both after I finish up my current bottles! I definitely want to further investigate their products!

  3. I tried it at the store and enjoyed it. Love budget friendly luxury (oxymoron much) ;). The other pocket friendly options that I enjoy are the travel sizes for Fresh Seaberry Oil (Hydration Central) and Tatcha Camellia Oil (love it). Once I finish my Seaberry Oil, I am going to get this one. And after your review of the Origins oil, I have added that to my "to try" list as well :).

    1. I'm so glad that you did! Yes, funny juxtaposition between luxury and budget friendly! I have only tested Fresh Seaberry Oil at Sephora, but really liked it a lot. Oh yeah, TATCHA Camellia Oil is the stuff that dreams are made of! I remain madly in love with that oil! The Origins Oil is really lovely! I imagine that you should be able to get a sample from Origins before committing to a full size bottle. I am currently testing out the new Arcona Wine Oil, and am very impressed so far. So many oils to try!!!!!!!! :-) <3

  17. I've never tried any oil serum before. Can this product compare with Clarins Double Serum? I hesitate between 2 product, which one I should tried first

    1. Hi Alex,

I have only ever tried a sample packet or two of the Clarins Double Serum so I can't really compare them. That said, the Clarins ingredients are quite different from the Mad Hippie ingredients. The former has a large number of synthetic ingredients, while the latter is made from natural oils and fruit extracts. I definitely have been very impressed by the quality of the Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil, and haven't used the Clarins enough to have an opinion since a couple of sample packets don't provide enough product to see tangible results.

I am a huge fan of using fan of face oils and use them ever day! :-)
