While Zoe and Jasper love one another deeply, this particularly enchanting scene should be understood as far more than a delightful snuggle/love-fest. In fact, were it not for Jasper's charming disposition this scene could have quickly descended into a bitter battle over prime real estate. This is Zoe's uncontested perch, and nobody would dare to stake a claim without fear of reprisals. This has only ever been Zoe's bed, and as diminutive as she is– she is a scrappy little kitty who doesn't bat an eye when faced with evicting interlopers twice her size.
Her nest sits on top of a dresser– giving her a nice vantage point, but the bed itself is a plush and fluffy cat-bed that was unwittingly outfitted with the most comfortable fleece jacket. The jacket, which was once –and would still be– my husband's favorite cold weather coat, was overtaken by Zoe in a coup d'état. My husband quite literally placed the coat on the dresser while putting on his shoes to walk Delilah and Lucy, and BOOM– Zoe appeared out of nowhere and claimed it! He periodically laments the fact that he can't wear his jacket, and I have to remind him that it is no longer his
There is no question that this loving scene between Zoe and Jasper is utterly heartwarming, but Zoe's position should be read as somewhat conflicted. On the one hand, she loves her bed with great vigor, and on the other there is no cat that she loves more than Jasper, but he is in her
spot! Thus, while she tolerates, or even enjoys, snuggling him this enjoyment is infused with a slightly passive aggressive demeanor. However, Jasper is neither of aware of this, nor would he concern himself with such territorial musings. After all, he does have the position of privilege, and
a darling girl snuggling him!

Haha aww this is TOO adorable! I actually secretly let the cats have my husband's old clothes that I no longer wish to see him in :p By the time he finds out, they're usually too fluffy so he gives up!ReplyDelete
Here Tango is everyone's snuggle bunny, although sometimes he does try to chase the girls away and see if he can get a monopoly of the spot he wants. He's bigger but he doesn't usually win, because his combat skills aren't up there at all!
LOL, that's hysterical that you donate your husband's clothes to the kitty cause! That is a brilliant way to weed out the clothes that you don't want him to wear (I'm taking notes-LOL).Delete
What a sweetie that Tango is! It's pretty funny that his combat skills aren't up to par! That certainly gives the girls a distinct advantage!
awwwwwwwww. You made my day and my week and my past weeks with this post. Such an incredibly good looking, adorable pair.ReplyDelete
How is everything doing my sweet one? Life here is in full intensity! I have an internsive workshop this weekend and then a presentation of my work. I'm not entirely confident but that is just me being anxious!
I hope you have heard some good news already so we can celebrate. Sending much love to your felines and to you <3
I'm so glad that these two put a smile on your face! They definitely are a fetching pair.Delete
The quarter is almost over, and it was a particularly exhausting one! Full intensity would be a great way to describe it here as well!
It wouldn't be normal if it weren't fraught with anxiety! I have no doubt that your work is brilliant, as are you! No news on this end– anything on yours? Academia really works on a very different time table! Sending you lots of love! xoxoxoxox
No news here, sadly, sadly, sadly. It eventually becomes harder to even imagine something will turn up so I have decided to focus on the few things I can do on my end: write, try to publish, and relax whenever possible. The rest, at this point (at any point of academia, really) is out of my control. Having said that, I still get sad with the abundance of rejections. I hope you get better luck soon. I am celebrating my friend's victories with all my heart. I cannot wait to celebrate your good news. Uff the quarter system is pretty stressing, isn't it?Delete
Beauty wise: I haven't changed anything on my routine, but I'm starting to get nervous about that and probably soon I'll cave in and just renew my whole skin care, as I usually do. Make up wise: Not much has changed either. I am boring :)
Sending love and light,
I feel the same way. Sadly, this seems to be part of the landscape with academia. The entire system seem to be based upon the hurry up get it submitted, and then wait for an eternity to hear something paradigm. You are so right that it's best to focus on the things that we do have control over, but that certainly doesn't make the waiting any less difficult.Delete
I hope that you receive some great news soon!
Yes, the quarter system moves along at such an insane pace, and it is even crazier at a research institution– as you know all too well!
You are not boring!!!!!! You are a busy woman, but slight changes in your beauty routine may make you feel pampered, and that is so important given the work/school/publications stress that you face on a daily basis! Of course, you might be able to insert some added pleasure by purchasing a new fragrance that you have been coveting since the enjoyment that this will offer would be so good for the soul! Sending you love and light as well! xoxox
Adorable! Just what i needed to see this morning! Purrs and meows to them!ReplyDelete
I'm so glad that it is just what you needed! They are purring, blinking and meowing for you!Delete
