ABOUT PROVINCE APOTHECARY
Province Apothecary was founded by Halifax native Julie Clark in 2012. Julie is a holistic aesthetician and aromatherapist who began studying Holistic Health and Aromatherapy in 2010, after years of making custom products for herself and her friends. Province Apothecary handcrafts their products with a unique blend of plant based, synthetic-free ingredients, sourced from small Canadian companies. All of their products are free of petroleum, parabens, synthetic fragrances + chemicals, dyes, pesticides and GMOs. To learn more about this amazing company click here.

1) Essential Oil Incense in Black Spruce + Fir Balsam is a wonderful earthy scent that evokes a walk in the woods on a crisp winter afternoon.

According to Province Apothecary,

We infuse charcoal incense by hand with wild-crafted essential oils to bring you effortless aromatherapy for your everyday spaces.

Our Fir & Spruce Incense brings the great outdoors to you, stimulating your mind and inviting creativity.

$12.00 from Province Apothecary.

2) Moisturizing Cleanser + Makeup Remover is a glorious deeply hydrating essential oil based cleanser and makeup remover that elevates the mood while removing every trace of makeup. It neither strips the skin, nor does it leave behind a greasy film. It makes me deliriously happy each time that I use this beautiful product, and I love to deeply inhale warm aroma, that is punctuated by lavender, each time that I use it because it is so calming and pleasant.

According to Province Apothecary,

Our Moisturizing Cleanser + Make Up Remover with Avocado & Raspberry Oil is great for all skin types. These hydrating oils remove make up & excess oil, restoring your skin’s natural radiance while gently cleansing without over-drying your skin or destroying its natural pH. Raspberry Oil stimulates cell turnover, rejuvenating skin. Bergamot Oil clears congestion. Frankincense tones the skin. Lavender heals blemishes and works as a restorative. This essential oil blend calms, reduces stress, and relaxes your parasympathetic nervous system. Our cleanser helps your skin stay nourished, balanced, and healthy. Also available unscented.

Directions: "Use nightly to remove make-up and dirt. Warm oil in your palm. Massage into face and neck in a circular motion. Remove cleanser off with a damp face cloth. For best results, follow with Province Apothecary Toner."

Ingredients: Sunflower Seed Oil*,  Jojoba oil*, Avocado oil*, Evening Primrose oil*, Raspberry Seed oil*, GMO-free Vitamin E, Rosemary leaf extract, and therapeutic essential oils of: Bergamot, Lavender*, Frankincense* and Petit grain. *Certified organic ingredient. Our Bergamot is Bergamotene-free (not photo-toxic).

$16.00 30 ml. from Province Apothecary.

3) Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator is an aromatic powder exfoliating cleanser that one activates by the addition of water. If one prefers a thicker paste simply add less water, or add more if your preference is a lighter and more fluid consistency. Each time that I use this exfoliator I am astounded by the extent to which it deeply cleanses my skin without stripping it, and how it simultaneously leaves my skin baby-bottom soft and smooth. The scent is a mellow lavender that is softened and tempered by the other ingredients. It isn't in the least bit cloying, and won't overpower those sensitive to the intensity of natural essences.

According to Province Apothecary,

Our dry Regenerating + Stimulating exfoliator with Lavender & Green Tea is perfect for all skin types, working to gently exfoliate and hydrate your skin. Oatmeal calms, softens, and nourishes. Green tea stimulates and rejuvenates, giving you a healthy glow. Lavender calms irritation and heals blemishes. Our dry formula allows you to blend the exfoliator with other natural ingredients depending on what works best for your skin, as the seasons change*. Our exfoliator is biodegradable + safe to use at the cottage or camping.

Directions: "Wet face with lukewarm water. In palm, mix 1 tsp exfoliator & 1 tsp liquid* to make a runny paste. Gently rub onto face and neck in small, circular motions for 1-3 minutes. Rinse off with a damp cloth. Finish with Province Apothecary toner and serum. We suggest exfoliating every 3 days. Be careful not to get water in this product or it will go mouldy.  *Mix with water for a stimulating exfoliation for all skin types; oil or cream for dry or sensitive skin; yogurt for oily skin (deeper aha-type exfoliation); honey for healing (acne) and toning the skin."

Ingredients: Oat Flour*, Lentil Flour*, Flax Seed*, Lavender*, Violet flowers + leaves*, Green Tea Leaf*. *Certified organic ingredient

$12.00 for 30 ml. from Province Apothecary.

4) Repairing + Conditioning Lip Balm is a truly obsession worthy lip balm that will have even the most jaded lip balm aficionado doing cartwheels in public. That this is an intensely healing, nourishing and soothing lip balm cannot be sufficiently underscored. It consistently leaves lips soft, supple and intensely moisturized, but it also heals chapped lips at an exceptional rate of speed. The essential oils of Lavender, Rosemary and Peppermint cause a slight tingling and plumping effect, but it is altogether pleasant and comfortable.

According to Province Apothecary,

This healing + protecting blend of oils is perfect for the cold and dry winter months. Calendula hydrates cracked, dry skin, Lavender’s amazing first aid properties soothe and repair. Peppermint energizes your lips, bringing blood to the surface and feeding your skin cells. Use to protect lips and seal in moisture.

Ingredients: Sunflower seed oil*, Beeswax*, Calendula oil*, GMO-free Vitamin E, and therapeutic essential oils of Lavender*, Rosemary, Peppermint and Myrrh. *Certified organic ingredient

$8.00 from Province Apothecary.

5) Clear Skin is a remarkably effective spot treatment that treats blemishes at an astonishing rate of speed. It is a highly concentrated blend of essential oils that quickly and decisively eliminate pimples. I, of course, had to await a breakout in order to test the merits of this anti-blemish oil, but when it did happen I reached for Clear Skin. I had a monthly cycle breakout that brought with it a rather unpleasant and unsightly pimple on my nose, and my solution was to dab this healing elixir on the blemish before going to bed that night. When I woke up the following morning the pimple had nearly completely retreated and all of the redness had abated, but by the end of the second day there was no trace of the pimple at all. SIMPLY AMAZING!

According to Province Apothecary,

Our Clear Skin with Lavender & Immortelle is a pure, concentrated, and effective spot treatment for all blemishes. One drop is all you need! We chose 7 of the most powerful organic + wild-crafted therapeutic essential oils to help reduce inflammation, infection, and redness. When combined, these oils support the skin and speed up its healing of blemishes, scars, ingrown hairs, and red lines.

Directions: "After applying serum or moisturizer to your skin, place one drop of Clear Skin on your fingertip and apply directly to individual spots (pimples, cystic pimples, hives, red lines, ingrown hairs, and scars).  Apply twice a day only. *For sensitive skin always do a patch test before applying new products."

Ingredients: Therapeutic essential oils of Lavender*, German Chamomile**, Rose Otto**, Cypress*, Frankincense*, Helichrysum** and Carrot seed oil*. *Certified organic ingredient **Wild-crafted ingredient •Avoid product during pregnancy.

$30.00 for 5 ml. from Province Apothecary.Overall Assessment: This is a really beautiful line, and it will most certainly appeal to those among you who relish high quality lovingly handcrafted products that transport you to Provence each time you use them. I need to try more products from this line now, and enthusiastically and effusively recommend Province Apothecary. Furthermore, the clean organic products are both safe and highly effective, and they are likewise a joy to use.

    1. Hi Renu,

It really is! It seriously sent my pimple packing! I really like that there are no harsh chemical ingredients, and that it smells DIVINE! It might be worth trying-- provided that you aren't sensitive to any of the ingredients. I'm really happy with it, and next month when I get a pimple or two-- I will definitely be reaching for this! :-)

  12. How would you compare the powder exfoliator to Tatcha enzyme powder in terms of the product itself and the results? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good question! I would say that TATCHA's powder is finer and more refined in feeling, and Province Apothecary's is more earthy with a less fine powder. They both leave skin soft and smooth, but TATCHA probably does so more. I'm quite pleased with both.

  13. Hmm.... well, I have the Tatcha and I really like it. Was just trying to see if I should sometime switch to this since it is considerably cheaper. Although, I did not do a size comparison so maybe it is not really much cheaper. Hmpf! I just went to try to calculate price taking into account the different size. They sure don't make it easy! This one is in ml and Tatcha shows only grams and oz. I hate math!

    Replies
    1. LOL!! I like them both a great deal, but I don't think that you need to purchase this one until you finish up the TATCHA unless you want a little variation. Ultimately you will have to try both in order to determine which one you ultimately like better. If you are super happy with the TATCHA– then just enjoy it, and once you finish it you will know whether you want to try something else instead.

  14. Okay, so 30 ml = 1.1 oz and the Tatcha is 2.1 oz. This product is a considerable savings but....is the Tatcha better/worth more? Hmmmmm

    1. they are so different that it's hard to decide based upon price alone. SO much of it has to do with the sensory experience of each of them. They are both lovely though! :-)
