Sunday Sun Day Volume IX: HydroPeptide Solar Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Review

One thing that I never do, irrespective of the season, is leave the house without wearing an SPF 30 or higher on my face, neck and décolleté. In fact, all exposed body parts receive a generous slathering of sunscreen because I neither want to age my skin, nor do I want to increase my chances of getting skin cancer.

My most recent amazing sunscreen discovery is HydroPeptide Solar Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30, an ingenious antioxidant anti-aging sunscreen that moisturizes while it protects the skin.

According to HydroPeptide,

This summer, prevent and treat skincare disasters with HydroPeptide. The peptide-packed combination of Solar Defense: Broad Spectrum SPF 30, Soothing Serum: Redness Repair and Relief and Face Lift: Advanced Ultra-Light Moisturizer will keep skin protected and have it glowing all summer long!

Beat the damaging effects if UVA & UVB rays to the punch with Solar Defense: Broad Spectrum SPF 30. This non-greasy physical sunscreen self-adjusts to the color of your skin tone to offer flawless coverage, while anti-aging elements hydrate, protect and help clarify the skin. A moisture-binding peptide rich in protein keeps skin balanced and shine-free by controlling oil and satisfying the skin’s exact moisture needs. Super-antioxidants including acai berry and green tea work to prevent future wrinkling and pigmentation, keeping skin looking young and fresh.

One of the novel aspects of this sunscreen is its ability to self-adjust to the color of your skin assuring perfect coverage that evens out the complexion without adding color. The formula is moisturizing, yet non-greasy, and it is lightweight and fast absorbing. This physical sunscreen provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection-- but it leaves behind no white residue, and will not interfere with the application or wear of makeup. The finish is nearly matte, and it is formulated for all skin types.

While it boasts an oil-free non-comedogenic formula, it provides wonderful hydration and should work well for all skin types notwithstanding any allergies one may have to specific ingredients. HydroPeptide Solar Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 has a fruity scent, but it does dissipate rather quickly-- therefore it should not present a concern to those among you who are sensitive to facial products that aren't free of scent.

In addition to being a wonderfully effective sunscreen that is comfortable on the skin, and that has serious skincare ingredients with tangible benefits, it also doubles as a very effective makeup primer. Therefore, this multitasker is one fabulous sunscreen that has delighted me, and is definitely worth your consideration when you need to replace your facial sunscreen.
The pump dispenser is very convenient to use, and keeps the contents uncontaminated and stable.

Product Details: "Acai + Green Tea, Aloe + Hyaluronic Acid, Galanga, Titanium Dioxide 2.5%, Zinc Oxide 6% - This non-greasy sunscreen self-adjusts to the color of your skin tone offering flawless coverage, while anti-aging elements hydrate, protect and help clarify the skin."

  1. i assume you are using this as a sunscreen on your face/neck/chest/ears -- the formula sounds wonderful and with those ingredients (a physical versus chemical sunblock) you should even be able to apply to the eye area which is also important. this formula sounds wonderful and something i would be willing to try and likely able to use.

sunscreen has been an important factor in my skincare regime for 35 years -- since i was 15 and i'm proud of it! at 50, i have no sun damage on my face but some minimal damage i hope to fix soon with lasers on my hands and lower arms. today, in my neck of the woods, it reached 104 deg in the shade so i'll consider this a job well done.

right now, i am changing dressings on yet another basal cell carcinoma on my mother's back. she went to nursing school in miami in the late 50s and participated in numerous studies on various sunscreens. as we now know, we knew absolutely nothing about a good sunscreen at that time and she has been having such skin cancers removed for most of my adult life. she has lost a an unpleasant amount of skin on her nose, eyelids, which would be hard on anyone's self esteem. it was a powerful motivator for me, however and my children have shared the benefit as well.

i have been using Glycolix Elite 30 SPF on my face for years, have just run out and using up some samples. i think my next purchase will be some of the Elta MD formulations using micronized zinc and am looking forward to that. will let you know what i think, if i do not have my own blog up at that point :)

    1. Yes, that's exactly how I use it, Cheryl! I'm quite impressed by the formula. I haven't tried it under my eyes, but might do that to see how well it works there.

WOW, 104 degrees! I'm very impressed that you have sustained little to no sun damage-- I bow to thee! A job well done is a definite understatement!

What a horrible ordeal for you mom! According to the dermatologist that I see periodically to check sun spots-- he sees so much of this all of the time. He implored me to never step foot out of the house wearing anything below an SPF 30 on all exposed areas. I hope that your mom heals quickly and has no more of this in her future!

I have never tried Glycolix Elite 30 SPF or Elta MD-- but will have to look into both!

      Have a lovely Monday! :-)
