Alba Botanica Natural Very Emollient Body Lotion (Original)- Review

My skin has been unusually dry because we have had an unusually cold winter here. Many of you have also been complaining about dry winter skin- so I thought that I would share one of my very favorite tried and true lotions that won't require an expensive trip to Barneys or Neiman Marcus! I have used Alba Botanica Natural Very Emollient Body Lotion Original for many years, and always have a bottle on hand.
According to Alba Botanica, "An exquisitely light, natural body lotion packed with rich botanical emollients to soothe and soften skin while providing 100% daily hydration.* This lotion blends aloe vera, green tea and chamomile extracts plus antioxidants to nourish and replenish skin on contact. Perfect for use in massage. This rich lotion absorbs quickly so it feels light enough to use all day, every day."

This beautifully rich body lotion leaves my skin silky smooth and hydrated, and when my skin is especially dry I layer it over body oil. It has a lovely thick and emollient texture, and feels glorious. It has a clean fresh scent that dissipates soon after application. What does not disappear is how smooth, silky and soft it makes your skin feel. It is so rich and emollient that it keeps my skin moisturized all day long, therefore I do not need to reapply it during the day (save for my hands since I wash them throughout the day and thus require added moisture).

Overall assessment: I love this lotion, and just keep replacing it. I have nothing but good things to say about this lotion! I love it so much that I always buy the 32 oz. bottle, but should probably start buying the 1 gallon jug instead since it is a counter top staple at my house!

32 oz. I bought mine on sale at Whole Foods Market for $12.99

  1. I really like this lotion too! It's fabulous! Have you tried Avalon Organics? I find them their lotions more luxurious yet they're texture much lighter and more aromatically pleasing.

  2. Too bad it has perfume in it, even if it is one of the last ingredients. I just cannot tolerate anything with fragrance in it. I use the Neutrogenia moisturizing products for hands and body. You know, the Norwegian fisherman's formula (ha,ha) and the body emulsion. They all come with and without fragrance. I highly applaud Neutrogenis for producting their products in this manner, they keep customers with varying needs and preferences happy!
