Each time that I feature eco-luxe skincare and makeup I receive lots of emails asking me to feature even more healthy skincare and makeup. It pleases me to no end witnessing so many people add more green beauty into their routines, and that a great many of you are switching from the heavily chemical-laden counterparts to healthier choices altogether.

If you are thinking about adding healthier makeup into your daily routine, then lipsticks are an excellent place to start. Given that we ingest a tremendous amount of lipstick, it stands to reason to have some healthier lipstick and lip gloss options on hand. Alima Pure Velvet Lipsticks are made from a luxurious blend of natural oils and waxes that moisturize lips without sacrificing color saturation. This cruelty-free brand makes their lipsticks without gluten, fragrance, palm, canola, parabens, artificial preservatives, sulfates, carmine, phthalates, dimethicone, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, or nanoparticles.
Alima Pure Velvet Lipsticks have a semi-matte finish, but rather than having a dry consistency and a flat finish these lipsticks have the emollience of a lip balm coupled with a very light sheen, and yet the longevity of a lipstick. They glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit richly saturated color effortlessly and they neither bleed, nor feather. Furthermore, they boast the perfect amount of cushion for comfortable wear.

I received two colors, Olivia and Lucy, and found that they performed the same, and both offered full, opaque coverage in a single pass. Olivia is a richly pigmented blue-based classic red that is timeless and utterly fetching. Lucy is a lovely peachy nude that is perfect for a nude lipstick enthusiasts.
According to Alima Pure,

Rich Color. Clean Ingredients. Introducing Velvet Lipstick. Made with a luxe blend of natural oils and waxes, it moisturizes and saturates your lips in rich, hydrating color, leaving a comfortable, semi-matte finish. Velvet Lipstick performs like a lipstick, but feels like a balm.
Not tested on animals. Formulated without: gluten, fragrance, palm, canola, parabens, artificial preservatives, sulfates, carmine, phthalates, dimethicone, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, and nanoparticles. Made in the USA.

  1. Thank you for the introduction to this lovely better for you brand! I love Olivia because red always attracts me. Lucy appears to be a deeper & more wearable shade in your swatch than I expected rather than a pale 1960s peach. I agree, Odessa sounds lovely for spring (if spring ever arrives!)

    1. You are so welcome, Allison! Olivia is a gorgeous red, and it would be very flattering on you! I agree that Lucy is deeper and more wearable the I expected too! Odessa is the one that I would wear the most– so I may need to pick it up! I know what you mean, I wish that spring would come already!

  2. The lipstick in the tubes look so different than your swatches. They do look like rich lipsticks. I had bought Alima powder products many years ago.

  4. So true about picking a natural lip product because of how much we ingest! I really like the 2 shades you got, but I think I would enjoy all of them.

    1. I know, and when you think about how many chemicals that we ingest from lipsticks, it gets a little unsettling! It's really nice to have some healthier lipsticks to wear! These two shades would be beautiful on you!
