I am perpetually on the lookout for fantastic sunscreens for the face, and given that it is summer I am particularly vigilant about keeping my skin protected. My most recent sunscreen discoveries are Cyberderm Simply Zinc Sun Whip SPF 30 & Every Morning Sun Whip SPF 25, and I am quite impressed by both of them.

About Cyberderm:

Founded in 2008 by Canadian physicians, Denis Dudley and Sharyn Laughlin, Cyberderm is dedicated to creating products that feature the latest and best advances in the science of formulations backed by the credibility of medical professionals. All products are created with the premise of being safe, aesthetically elegant and most importantly effective. Products include world class Zinc Oxide sunscreens and a complementary line of luxury cosmeceuticals.
Cyberderm Simply Zinc Sun Whip SPF 30 ($40.00 for 50 ml. from Cyberderm): If you seek an effective pure mineral sunscreen, then Cyberderm Simply Zinc Sun Whip SPF 30 is a really lovely choice. It offers a moisturizing antioxidant-rich formula that glides across the skin effortlessly and it applies clear– leaving behind no unsightly white residue. This sunscreen contains no fragrance, and there is no detectable aroma, whatsoever.

According to Cyberderm,

For those looking for a pure, physical sunscreen the Simply Zinc Sun WhipTM will change how you view zinc oxide based sunscreens. Simply Zinc Sun Whip contains 22% certified organic Zinc Oxide in a rich and hydrating olive base. It applies smoothly and invisibly while it absorbs quickly without leaving a shiny finish. It is perfect for those looking for more hydration or for those with sensitive skin. It is also a great facial sunscreen for women with melasma or hyperpigmentation, by providing strong and consistent protection against UVB and UVA rays. The anti-oxidants provided by the olive oil base and the inclusion of tetrapeptides also make this a great anti-aging sunscreen.

Ingredients: 22% Zinc Oxide (Active Ingredient), Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Isostearate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Trimethylene Glycol, Methylcellulose, Tetrapeptide-21, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum.
Cyberderm Every Morning Sun Whip SPF 25 ($40.00 for 50 ml. from Cyberderm): This sunscreen offers a combination of physical (mineral) and chemical sunscreens that offer protection against UVB and UVA rays. There is no white residue left behind, and the cashmere matte finish serves as a nice base for makeup. Cyberderm suggests that this is a great formula for people with combination, oily and acne skin, and while my skin is normal/combination (slightly more active in my t-zone), this formula doesn't mattify or dry out my skin. There is no fragrance added, and no detectable scent.

According to Cyberderm,

Our most popular formula- a great facial sunscreen with a cashmere matte finish.  Apply it to the face, neck, chest and hands daily! Zinc oxide provides consistent and photo-stable protection against UVB and UVA rays. It’s soothing and calming to the skin, which is why mothers apply zinc oxide to their babies’ bottoms. This 15% zinc oxide and 7.5% encapsulated octinoxate blend applies invisibly and smoothly to the skin. It provides just the right amount of hydration for many but pairs nicely with our H20 Hydration. It is also perfect for those with combination, oily or acneic skin. This is an essential for both young and mature skin and provides essential daily protection.

Ingredients: 15% Zinc Oxide (ZinClearTM), 7.5% Octinoxate (Encapsulated) Non-Medicinal ingredients: Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Isostearate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-75 Stearate, Ceteth 20, Steareth-20, Glycerin, Cetyl Dimethicone, Methycellulose, Trisodium Ethylenediame Disuccinate, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Silica, PVP, Chlorphenesin, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA.
While I have found both of these sunscreens to be highly effective, they must be reapplied every 60-80 minutes to retain their efficacy.
Overall Assessment: If you need to replenish your facial sunscreens, then Cyberderm is worthy of your consideration.
