Barneys New York LOVE YOURSELF Bag Event Details and Step-Up Gifts | September 9-13

Barneys Love Yourself Bag Event September 9-13
(Affiliate links)

**I will be UPDATING this often so bookmark this page**
I know that you have been waiting for details about the upcoming Barneys LOVE YOURSELF Bag Event, and here are some for you!! I will be updating this regularly, and am waiting to hear more about line specific Step-Up Gifts.

-The Bag Event will run from September 9-13, 2015.

-Barneys is already pre-selling- this is the best way to reserve the gift bag and step-up gifts for you.

-The minimum purchase to get the gift bag is $200.00 (this is based upon total pre-tax purchases in the cosmetics & fragrance department- not limited to a single counter or line). If you spend $200.00 before tax from the store shipping is free (US only. Shipping fees apply to international addresses).

-You can order online to get the bag, but the Step-Up Gifts will likely differ. I will bring you that information as soon as it is provided to me.

ONE BAG PER CUSTOMER & WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER OFFER.

-Step-up gifts are line specific gifts beyond the gift bag. For instance, if you spend a certain amount of money with a particular line that is participating, then they will give you an additional gift with purchase from their line. There is nearly always a minimum purchase price, and they often give full-sized products- making it all the more tempting. You will still get the Gift Bag even if you spend enough in a particular line to qualify for their step up gift.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (if you have more questions- just ask!):

Q: Is the $200.00 minimum for the gift bag before or after tax?
A: It is a pre-tax minimum.

Q: Is it really that important that I pre-purchase what I want?
A: It certainly is a good idea. Things sell out quickly during this event, and they quite often run out of the really hot step-up gifts (sometimes before the sale even officially begins).

Q: Will there be any free international shipping for this event?
A: I was told that free shipping is US only if you spend $200.00 pretax.

Q: If you could give me one piece of advice about the Bag Event, what would it be?
A: Set a realistic budget that you can live with and afford, and stick to it! The Bag Event happens twice a year-- you can do it again! Make a list of what you want and do your best to stick to it-- otherwise it can become a very very expensive event, trust me.

Q: Is there an advantage to ordering from a store over the phone rather than online (since I don't have a store near me)?
A: That depends, but there can be. Here's why: a) First of all, if they sell out of what you want online it may take some time for you to receive notification since they sell so much during these events. This can sometimes mean that you find out after the Bag Event ends, and thus you miss out on the event altogether,  b) Sales associates often add in other samples, and often include their business cards so that you can establish a relationship with them (and then they call you to alert you of specials, pull step-up gifts for you etc.). Trust me, this makes all of the difference in the world, and c) You can be eligible for free shipping with in-store over the phone purchases (provided that you make the $200.00 shipping minimum to a US address). HOWEVER, the online Love Yourself Event features different (and FABULOUS) line specific Step-Up gifts, and the convenience of shopping online cannot be sufficiently underscored. The best way to optimize your online shopping experience is to order sooner rather than later so that you get what you want before things begin to sell out. This is an AMAZING event and so many people shop the event in-store and online that things can sell out very fast!

These Step-Up Gifts are those currently available at the Beverly Hills location at (310) 276-4400 Ext. 5613 (not online) and at The NYC Madison Avenue location (212) 833-2004 and (212) 833-2005

I have had several requests about line specific step-up gifts from my beloved readers- so here are a few of them (click on name brand to direct you to their page on the Barneys website). If it is currently left blank that means that I am awaiting information about what the Step-Up Gifts will be, or whether they are having any.

PLEASE NOTE: If you see things that you want you should be aware that Barneys is already pre-selling, and that they may substitute gifts as they begin to sell out. Remember that things sell out very quickly because the LOVE YOURSELF BAG EVENT is a very popular (and fantastic) time to shop. In other words, don't wait too long if you plan to shop the event. Call your local Barneys to find out what Step-Up Gifts they are offering, or call the Beverly Hills or Madison Avenue numbers that I provided to see if they still have what is listed below. I will be updating this post-- so bookmark it and check it frequently for any updates, or added specials!!

I would not suggest waiting until the last minute to pre-order, because some things really sell quickly during the event-- it's a good idea to call the counters that you are interested in to reserve your bag and all of the goodies that you want to buy.

Until then, if you are planning to partake- might I suggest that you set a realistic budget, check your stash, and make a list. I tend to stalk the Barneys website to help me make my list-- so that might work for you as well.

If you have any questions, post them in the comments section below, and I will try to get an answer for you. This is preferable to emailing me since I invariably am asked the same questions-- so this way everyone gets the answers.

If you want to place an order in store, feel free to call the Beverly Hills Location (310) 276-4400 Ext. 5613 or the NYC Madison Avenue location (212) 833-2004 and (212) 833-2005. If you need the name of a great sales associate, then ask me in the comments below!

Are you planning on partaking? If so, what are you thinking of getting?

  1. OK, I have to publicly say WOW!. Yet again, you have amazed me. The amount of time and integrity you put into this blog on a daily basis is extraordinary but what you put into this and the Space NK event is just nothing short of spectacular. Thank you so very much. Its so helpful and so fun! I am using this round for fall stock up with a teeny bit of fun thrown in. ( a girl has to live a bit ;)) I will get the Kiehls facial fuel, eye alert, line reducing serum , the kon du cleansing water, ysl oil lip tint and then one fun thing that speaks to me while I am there picking up my pre order. If anyone needs someone to take care of them in NY, feel free to call on Cynthia @ the kiehls counter. She has been the manager there for a million years and knows all the lines. She truly could not be more wonderful or helpful. She is a fan of lotions, potions, colors herself so she gets it all. Enjoy!

    1. OMG, thank you so much for your very very very kind words! You seriously just made my whole day! I try to be as thorough as possible so that you don't have to waste time trying to figure everything out!

You are getting a really lovely selection of goodies! I agree that you have to pick up some things that are fun as well! Are you shopping the Space NK event as well, or just BNY? Thanks for sharing info about Cynthia in NYC! <3

    2. Space NK is going to honestly depend if that day I can control myself as insane as that sounds. If I cannot.. lord and berry, james read and dr. dewey will be joining the barneys gang at my place.

I just sent a note to Cynthia re the other lines they have in NYC right now that aren't on the site for everyone's FYI. I will post the list as soon as I hear back.I do know that Chanel as a rule has always limited their web distribution. LaMer did for a long time as well. I think everyone has finally realized the internet is the real deal not like in the beginning when everyone was nervous and scared.

    3. LOL!!!!!!! I actually just received the Space NK gift bag and took some pictures. I will try to get it posted first thing tomorrow. It's pretty exciting stuff, if you ask me! It's a HUGE bag that is stuffed full!

Thanks for getting that info from Cynthia! I seem to remember hearing the same thing about Chanel some time ago.

I think that it's safe to say that most know that the internet is a safe place to make purchases– especially from established retailers! But you are so right!! It wasn't really all that long ago that the mere thought of placing an order online would have been too scary! <3

    4. Yes! I meant to say that from your first post. The space NK bag is so swish looking! And very proportionate. The barneys one is similar to the last one but I like the look of it and I like the idea of the guys and gals. It looks like they have wrangled some new vendors into the party. I don't know why everyone one doesn't do this. I have discovered some of my most favorite products and mainstays this way.

Totally re: the internet.. isn't it wild to think that really a decade ago you and I having an exchange like this would have been considered so nuts by most?! Plus all the info we have at our disposal to chat about!

      Delete
    5. It is pretty swish! Agreed about the BNY bag very similar in size and shape to last time, and even the his and hers bags again– which is really nice. I made the same observation about some new vendors to the party. Yup, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment.

I realize that it is a suable financial commitment for brands to furnish BNY with all of these samples, but it is such a GREAT marketing strategy without having to pay for advertising! Plus they can write it off! It's a really great way for niche brands that aren't on everyone's radar to get discovered by both regular BNY shoppers, and those who shop primarily during the bag events!

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! Makes you wonder how archaic what we know now will seem ten years from now! LOL!

  2. Is there a minimum purchase level on the Chanel gift?

    1. No minimum is specified, but if you contact Irene she will give you extra goodies for mentioning me!

    2. Hi, do you have an email for Irene?

      Delete
    3. Hi Unknown, Yes I placed it at the bottom of the current bag event post and it's hyperlinked so you can just click on it. It's ibrossar@barneys.com You might want to look at that post sine it reflects the current step-up gifts:

      http://www.lolassecretbeautyblog.com/2016/08/barneys-love-yourself-bag-event-details.html

What goodies are you planning on getting this time? :-)

  3. Does Barneys carry more beauty lines in store than online? Other than Chanel? I was going to order from the NYC location and wondered if there were more brands available to order. Thanks for an amazing post !

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They seem to periodically. I remember it taking a while before La Mer was on the website. I suspect that most of the lines in the store can be found on the website, however. I think that that new brands being added in and old lines being phased out might explain the periodic differences. I am not sure why Chanel isn't on their website.

  4. I am definitely going through Irene. She already contacted me. I guess she saved my info from last time!

    1. She is extraordinarily lovely, and a consummate professional. She would have definitely retained your information because she is very attentive to the needs of her clients!

  5. I think I'm going to get the Colbert MD step-up. Do you have a person in the NYC branch for that counter and extension? Even though I'm in NYC, I don't have time to go into the actual store and would call to pre-order. I've never done this before, so I'd feel more confident calling with an extension.

    1. An excellent choice! Yes, contact Irene Brossar at Barneys New York NYC. She's at the Chanel counter, but can get you anything that you need from the department. Be sure to tell her that I sent you because she always takes extra special care of my readers. Her number is (212) 833-2005. She's at work right now and we are texting back and forth!

    2. Awww...by the time I called her, she was already gone for the day. Will try again tomorrow. I did send her an email, but doubt she's checking that regularly.

      Thanks much!

    3. She is so on top of it that she takes orders when she isn't at work, and often sits and texts me from home! She's going to be at work through through Sept 4 and then off until Sept. 8, but told me to pass on her personal emil that she checks all of the time: Irenechanelnyc@aol.com You can also just call her back tomorrow!

  6. Irene informed me about this last week! I am getting basically everything Tatcha has to offer. Hoping the step up is awesome! I'm also getting the Chanel fall quad. So tempted to do both Barney's and Space NK gift. Its not fair on the wallet that they happen so close together. But I always do Barney's and has been the past two years because of how great Irene is. Thanks for introducing me to her!

    1. Good for you for indulging in all of the TATCHA goodies! Irene and I are actually texting back and forth at this very moment! The TATCHA Discovery Set is AWESOME! I reviewed it here:

      http://www.lolassecretbeautyblog.com/2014/08/tatcha-ritual-discovery-kit-review.html

Good call getting the Chanel Fall Quad! GORGEOUS!

I actually just received the GWP that Space NK sent, and I have to say that it is REALLY quite impressive! I just photographed it and will try to get it edited and posted for tomorrow! Close together, they are overlapping! It's been hard to stay on top of both events– especially since I have a job!

You are so welcome, Irene is an absolute delight! :-)

    2. Is it going to be the regular Discovery Set that they sell on their website for $59? Hmmmm...I just ordered one of those from Tatcha. Just as in......this morning!

      Delete
    3. That's exactly what it is! It could be a great back-up or a great Christmas gift for your sister-in-law!

    4. Hmmmmm I wonder which one it is? I just ordered the one for sensitive skin. Do you know? Darn--I've placed two orders with Tatcha within the last week using the great deal that was on RueLaLa about a month ago!

    5. The picture that I was sent was of the one for normal/combination skin, and I don't know if they are offering this one alone, or both. If you want to know I can check for you.

    6. Cindy, I already heard back! It's only the one for normal-combination skin! :-)

    7. Oooooo...is SpaceNK's bag different from what you already posted? I do think their bag looks better, but I really want the step up gift from Colbert MD (though am bummed the purchase requirement when up 100$--which means you end up spending closer to 400 because of his prices).

I really want the Space NK bag though.....

      Delete
    8. No, it's the same as what I posted, but the actual gift struck me as even more impressive when I opened up the box today! It's pretty fab, if you ask me. But, you can decide for yourself when you see my pictures tomorrow. The bag itself is this wonderful big see-through plastic zipper bag perfect for travel, and it is STUFFED full!

I hear you about the Step-Up Gift from Colbert MD from Barneys New York. As you recall, they did the same gift last time, and I got it, and was so thrilled! Their minimum for the LOVE YOURSELF Event in March was $250.00 last time, but that added $50.00 can mean spending more than expected defending on what you get. Though you could definitely come in around $300.00 depending upon what you choose!

I agree with you– the SPace NK bag is really awesome! :-)

    9. DARN! That's not what I want.... Maybe that's a good thing, though!

  12. Wow, this is amazing! Could you please tell me how to pre-order the items in my bag? Can I do it online? Do they just reserve everything for me until the day of the activity and then add the gift bag? Do I need to do anything then? This is the first time I know this event, so sorry for so many questions. Thanks!

    1. Hi! I'm so glad that you are thrill by this post! I do it for all of the BNY LOVE YOURSELF Bag events, so definitely subscribe to my blog to get the scoop for all of these, and other, amazing events.

You cannot pre-order online. The bag event will become visible on the Barneys New York website on the day that the event begins, but sometimes it becomes visible late the night before. So you won't see any of the online details, or be able to add the gift bag to your basket until September 9th.

You can ONLY pre-order from the physical stores, and pre-sellig is going on right now! If that is what you want to do, then I can give you the name of a great Sales Associate in Beverly Hills and one at the Madison Ave store in NYC. What they will do is take your order over the phone, collect your purchases and Gift and Step-Up Gifts (if you purchased enough from the participating lines to qualify), and then they ring it up on the designated day and ship it out to you!

In Beverly Hills- Ana Osorio Langer (310) 276-4400 Ext. 5613
Madison Ave. NYC- Irene Brosser (212) 833-2004 and (212) 833-2005

Be sure to let them know I sent you, and they will take very good care of you. If, however, you prefer to shop online, then the gifts will automatically be added to your cart, but you will have to wait until the event officially begins! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for your kind words, I am so glad that you love my blog! I am so glad that you take time out of your busy day to stop by! Have a lovely Labor Day!

    1. Be still my beating heart, you picked three of my all-time favorite products! At some point you need to wrangle a sample of the Colbert MD Nutrify Day– I am absolutely obsessed with that day cream, or you could get it at the Space NK event. I need to start testing out another face cream, but am having a very hard time getting started because I love this one so much that I don't want to stop using it!

Believe it or not, Nordstrom just emailed me today with a whole list of Trend Events starting next weekend! I can't believe that it's that time again, and during the same weekend that Space NK and Barneys New York are doing their big events!

I'm glad that knowing me has been extremely fun– the feeling is mutual. Knowing me has been expensive for my wallet as well :-) My husband just rolls his eyes when he sees the shopping bags and all of the boxes that get delivered! <3

    2. Perhaps I really should have thought this through prior to ordering at Barneys..... I just checked the CMD website. Did you realize that there is a significant discount when ordering the gift set (which contains the Serum, Day and Night)? As in a $95 savings? And then they are having the 15% off sale.

      Delete
    3. I hadn't seen that the set was That's definitely a really good deal, but are you sure that the added 20% Off discount even applies to this since it is already on sale (my guess is that it won't combine with other offers, but I didn't go through the process of trying to add it to my cart and follow it through to check out and adding the discount code)?

      Delete
  21. Welp...I made my order directly with Colbert MD because of the discount. I was never able to get a hold of Irene on the phone, and she never responded to my email, so I feel like that + plus the Colbert MD discount was a sign, because I really favored the SpaceNK bag anyway and couldn't afford to do both events. So I'm happy with how it all turned out and I'm going to enjoy the addition it will make to my Space NK indulge points. Perhaps I'll do the Barney's event in spring.

Thanks again for all your solid advice and tireless efforts for us greedy little beauty obsessives. :) :)

    1. That sounds like a very well-reasoned way to approach it! What did you end up ordering from Colbert MD? That discount is amazing! I am so obsessed with his line– as you know all too well! Have you decided what you are getting from the Space NK bag event?

It is absolutely my pleasure, as always! I love to help in every way I can. I am among the beauty obsessed– so I definitely understand the need and desire to get good information, and to learn how to get the best deals possible! :-)

    2. I'm sure that Irene will get back to you, but it may just be that the universe was moving you toward the Colbert MD sale that you hadn't yet learned about!

      Delete
    3. Oh, don't worry. I could have been more persistent with contacting Irene, but there was a niggling something holding me back (probably not wanting to spend 300$ yet and really wanting the SpaceNK bag). I just got the Nutrify and Protect creme because I had already decided against the face oil (and had already purchased the Goldfaden oil) and I didn't really want to buy the serum until I tried a sample. For the Barney's event, I was going to just go ahead and get the serum plus the toning face pads (along with the face lotion). But because of his sale, I just got the lotion and am waiting to try the serum.

I haven't fully decided on what I'm getting from SpaceNK. I know I'm getting the Sarah Chapman age-repair serum. Then??? I was going to do the Colbert lotion, but now I have that. I'm interested in the nuface device, but I want to go into the store and try it first (they will give you a free session to try it).

So I'm at loose ends. I was interested in the new Radical Skin Perfecting Fluid, but I can't find any reviews or even ingredient list. It's so new it's not even on the Radical Skincare site yet.

I'm probably going to get some exfoliating pads. I love Sunday Riley's good genes, but i keep getting so many deluxe samples, that I haven't needed to buy it yet.

      Do you have any suggestions?

      Delete
    4. This all makes perfect sense! Very well reasoned indeed!

I seem to remember us discussing the Sarah Chapman Serum– that sounds like a very sensible choice!

OMG, are you kidding me about the NuFACE Trinity?! I am posting my review of that this coming week, and I am COMPLETELY OBSESSED with it! Now that I know that you are interested, I will bump that review to the top of my list! IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, the best thing since sliced bread! I had it used on me a while ago at a Rodial Facial at Space NK, and it was love at first use! It really works, and it's fun to use!

I haven't tried the new Radical Skin Perfecting Fluid yet, so I can't give you an assessment, but I do love Radical!

I have a bunch of different Exfoliating pads (Colbert MD, Rodial, Radical, Dr. Dennis Gross– I feel like I am forgetting some), and I am currently using Colbert MD the most. They are thicker and juicier, and almost more akin to mini microdermabrasion pads than the regular exfoliating pads.

Good Genes is great, and I have gone through countless bottles, but when I ran out last time I got Verso Super Facial Serum instead, and am quite impressed by the results.

If I had to choose a single thing to get from Space NK I would probably get one of the NuFACE devices! It really is an amazing tool, if you ask me! It;s nice that they offer the big one as well as a mini ($325.00 vs. $199.00). I have the Trinity, and if my house was on fire I would grab that after I got my animals out of the house! <3

    5. I've been tempted by the Colbert MD pads, but the reason I wanted to get them as a step up is because there are only 20 pads in the container, which is a much lower count than other brands for the price. So I wanted to test before buying. Do you cut them in half so you can double your content? Also, I have rosacea and sensitive skin, so I also wanted to make sure they would inflame and irritate. But I know they get rave reviews; that's why I've been curious about them.

Oh! I'd love to read your NuFace review!!!! I was considering the mini, because it seems the only difference between that and the other is you can't swap attachments. I've read mostly great reviews on it, but I've also read about people getting hyper pigmentation brown spots where the device lands on the face. :/ But I wonder if they're just not using enough conductive element and are causing damage?

Thanks for the links, I'll definitely check them all out. What did you like better about the Verso serum?

      Delete
    6. There definitely are fewer of them than most of the other brands, but I love them so much that it doesn't bother me. I will definitely get them again when I run out. No, I haven't tried cutting them in half to making them last longer. I might have to give that a try! I think that it is very wise that you go test them first to make sure that they neither bother your rosacea, nor irritate your sensitive skin!

I will definitely get my NuFACE review posted for you this week! I definitely think that the mini is a good way to go unless you think that you might want to add either of the other attachments down the line. In that case I would bite the bullet on the front end and get the Trinity. If not, then save the extra money.

I have no idea why some people are finding that they are getting hyperpigmentation where the device lands, but your assessment that it could be a function of not using enough of the conducting gel sounds reasonable. I wonder if they are also leaving it on those particular spots too long, and if they aren't slathering on sunscreen when they leave the house. I definitely haven't experienced this, but I use plenty of gel, I don't leave it on any particular area for too long, and I slather on a high SPF sunscreen every time that I go outside.

I feel as though Verso is more potent and effective on my skin, but it's also gentle enough that I can use it on a daily basis. It might be worth getting a sample to see. I have piles of Good Genes samples, and I should run a little experiment to see which one is actually more effective, or if they are about the same. I get the same blowy skin with Verso, and it just feels as though it exfoliates a bit more effectively and efficiently. I will keep you posted!

  22. Yes, but you can justify it as an expense for your business (this blog) I would imagine and you do get to satisfy quite a bit of your curiosity/craving/obsession with press samples!

Do you mean you like the day cream more than the night cream? I was planning to get the Colbert MD oil for the SpaceNK event. And two Hourglass Ambient blushes (that I went to color test at Sephora this afternoon.) I could not decide which shade looked better on me (nor could the CSR) so decided to get both. Not that I need any blush at all. That is....do you know how long it actually takes to use a whole container of blush--particularly when you don't use make up daily?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, yes on the one hand, but I certainly buy a lot more than I could ever use or need. Press samples have never quelled my impulse to buy things, despite the fact that I have far more than I need for personal consumption!

I can't say that I love one more than the other because they are both perfect for their respective times of day. The consistency and texture of each is just perfection. The Colbert MD Illumino Oil is divine, and if that is what you really want then you should get that. At some point, however, I would urge you to try Nutrify Day.

I love those Hourglass Blushes! Now, you have to try your Oval 6 with your new blushes! Try mixing your Hourglass blushes too– I love customizing my color! Like you, I certainly don't need more blushes, but that doesn't stop me from buying more of them! LOL! It takes a very very long time for me to hit the pan on any of my blushes, and think that I only have one in that condition! I suppose if you used the same one every single day you could use it up in about 6-8 months, but who among us does that?!

  23. Oh! Don't forget that Neiman Marcus is also having their event starting next week....did you know that? Their bonus products are nothing compared to Barneys and SpaceNK; however, the bag this time looks very nice and I kind of want the Lancome GWP. But....really....I should exert a little self control so I'm trying to avoid thinking about NM and Lancome.....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh, I haven't forgotten. Their email has been staring at my, as has their catalog! Their gift bags are never anywhere near the offerings of Space NK or Barneys New York. They still do the whole old school tote bag with sample packets and perfume vials with a few sample tubes, and it just pales in comparison to what we've become accustomed to from BNY & SNK. That said, this one does look good. I did get a super nice Rebecca Minkoff leather cosmetic bag from them a couple of years ago, but I spent a small fortune on Tom Ford Beauty to get it (I think it was with a $500.00 purchase– which I blew through pretty quickly).

Is their Lancome GWP really great? I try to exert a little self-control, but it often flies right out the window if I really want certain things. If, however, I am feeling kind of meh about what's being offered, or if I don't REALLY want something badly, then I can resist the temptation.

You have a little time to sleep on the NM Lancome gift, but if you find yourself obsessing about it then you should swing by your local Lancome counter to see of there really is something that you just have to have.

      Delete
  24. Well, of course there is nothing I have to have. I do like their Genefique and Visionnaire products. Both of them made a significant difference in my skin at the time I started each of them. Genefique was the first product that ever 'got me' with the 'try this free for a week and we guarantee you'll love it' hype. I did and it did. The difference was pronounced. The GWP is 3 Absolu products (including the cleanser which I love and is no longer sold separately), definicils mascara (which is my favorite of the Lancome mascaras), Nutrix body cream and BiFacil (which I do not like at all).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. "Need" and "Must Have" become relative for those among us with a beauty obsession, no?! Amazing that the hype really ended up delivering! Interesting that you don't like the BiFacil at all since that is one of their most popular items. What don't you like about it? I think that I have a deluxe sample somewhere around here.

      Delete
    2. I have many deluxe samples of it and have started giving them away. It stings my eyes on more occasions than not. Not always, but enough that I have actually purchased the Clarins eye make up remover (when I have loads of deluxe samples from Lancome and Clinique). What do you think of the Colbert MD cleanser? I have one packet of it which I've been using the past two days (without Clarisonic). I could just buy that (either at SpaceNK or the 20% off) rather than buy something at Lancome to get the Absolu cleanser (which is fantastic with the Clarisonic). Hmmmm, not exactly apples to apples......

      Delete
    3. Thank you for telling me that, Cindy! I have super sensitive eyes, and eye makeup removers that sting in the least bit are a no-go for me. At least I can use them to remove arm swatches, but they aren't worth purchasing if I can't use them on my eyes!

I don't own the Colbert MD Cleanser, but have had it used on me during a Colbert MD facial. I really like the way that it feels, but I haven't used it at home. I have been wanting to get a tube to try out, though. If you have been loving the Colbert MD Cleanser then that might be a great option, but like you said comparing the two isn't exactly apples to apples. I would suggest trying both (maybe on in the day and one at night) and see which cleanser you prefer objectively. Think less in terms of the deals or GWP that you might get by purchasing each one, but instead about which cleanser works better for your skin. It gets difficult to be objective when there is so much other temptation associates with each of the lines during bag events!

      Delete
    4. Oh I am way to swayed by deals and GWP!

      Delete
    5. Me too! I had to have a little reality check once when I looked in my closet and saw a big Barneys bag filled with unopened boxes while I was stalking new purchases! It was at that point that I realized that I really needed to enjoy all of the things that I purchased– otherwise it was pointless to purchase them. That said, when the gifts with purchase are especially fantastic, it can be really really hard for me to keep a level head. And let's face it, there are always more "wants" that make there way to that ever growing list of things to try! This is really where TATCHA came up with the brilliant idea of selling travel sized products! Such a truly brilliant strategy for them, and such a sensible way to try their products for us!

  26. Thank you so much for all of the time that you put into these mega posts, Helen. I hope that you know how much it helps and how much we appreciate all that you do for us. The Barneys Sales Associates that I have talked to love you and are so appreciative of what you do because they get so many calls from your readers who are more prepared to place their orders because of what you do! I like to order online since it is my small way of thanking you for all that you do for us. We benefit from your beautiful writing, honest reviews and all of the deals and events that you tell us about. It continually blows my mind that as a college professor that you take the time to maintain your blog on a daily basis, and take the time to respond to all of our questions in such detail.

I also have to say that your blog is a real oasis in the blogosphere that has such high quality content, and is not about self-promotion. I have been really turned off and feeling that too many beauty blogs have become more interested in self-promotion and are no longer objective voices. Your reviews are always in-depth and detailed, and you are always trustworthy and lovely. So I guess what I am trying to say is that I think what you do is amazing, and that you continue to be my very favorite beauty blogger. My guess is that you are a truly amazing college professor, and I bet your students love you and know how lucky they are to have you as their professor! :D

    1. Hi J!

You are very welcome for these mega posts for the events. I couldn't stop doing them even if I tried because you guys start emailing me and leaving comments long before the events begin asking when I will be posting about them!

Thank you so much for your very very kind words about me personally and about Lola's Secret Beauty Blog. It warms my heart to feel so appreciated, and it an unending source of deep satisfaction knowing that you feel as you do. It is always my aim to make these events as approachable and easy to navigate as possible, and anywhere that I can find deals that will save you guys money is a deal worth mentioning. I am touched that the lovely SAs at Barneys appreciate these posts, and that they help to streamline their process. I have friends that work there, and I know firsthand how hard they work during the LOVE YOURSELF Bag Events. They are pure unmitigated chaos because of all of the people who attend and who call to place orders, and they run around at break-neck speed from the moment that they get to work until the moment that they leave. You are so kind, and your decision to order online through my links is incredibly thoughtful!

I am thrilled that you are so appreciative of the time that I invest in Lola's Secret Beauty Blog. It is truly a labor of love for me, and it is definitely a nice change of pace from the rigors of academia. It is very nice of you to liken the way that I blog to the way that I teach, and that my interactions with everyone who takes time out of their busy day to interact with me must in some way reflect the way that I interact with my students. I definitely invest a lot of time in my teaching and my students, and both nourish me, and hopefully it does the same for them!

I am so flattered that this is your favorite blog, and that you find my assessments to be trustworthy. That is, indeed, very important to me. I am always honest about how I feel about the products that I review, and if they don't work for me I will always tell you. That said, if I have a bad reaction, or really dislike, skincare products I am generally unwilling to use them long enough to be able to write a meaningful in-depth review.

Yes, Ana is just amazing, and such a sweetheart as well!

      Have a lovely weekend! xoxox

    2. I second that sentiment! I check your blog more than once a day, every day, unless I am without internet. I even checked it while I was in Rome in case there was something I might miss! There are only three websites I check daily and this is one of them.

So nice to have 'met' you, Helen!

I am humbled and honored that this is among the three websites that you visit on a daily basis! That is heartwarming and flattering, and it motivates me to keep doing what I am doing!

I suspect that the medium would probably work for you because it does for me– it is quite sheer. If you are on the fence, you might want to swing by an UD counter next time you are in the vicinity. Need it---what a joke!

I don't get dark--never, not ever! I do wear a very high SPF on my face almost always, though, to protect my skin from aging. The gal at Nordstrom guessed me 17 years younger last week so it must be working.....
