L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious BB Cream SPF 30 | Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

As you are likely aware, I have always preferred lightweight foundations and tinted moisturizers to full coverage opaque foundations. I like to enhance and protect my skin rather than conceal it, and it is for that very reason that I naturally gravitated toward the L'OCCITANE Immortelle BB Creams. In fact, one might go so far as to say that I have become rather obsessed with its formula. I made this realization when my initial testing and reviewing period was coming to a close and I didn't want to stop using it in order to begin testing out the next foundation awaiting review. This is always a really good sign for me since sometimes testing out so many products can begin to blur distinctions between products and product types.

L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious BB Cream SPF 30 applies smoothly and evenly and it neither settles into pores, nor does it emphasize fine lines. It has a lovely velvety texture that sets to a lovely natural finish. While the coverage is somewhat buildable, it does not achieve the same full opaque coverage of a full coverage foundation.  The formula is enriched with Immortelle Essential Oil– which accounts for its ability to nourish and moisturize the skin so well.

L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious BB Cream leaves the skin soft, supple and glowing, and it offers enough coverage to even out skin tone and conceal blemishes and imperfections. While I do find that the coverage remains intact all day, and the SPF 30 actually offers a nice amount of protection, it should  still be reapplied, or a supplemental sunscreen should be used throughout the day to ensure that your skin remains protected from the sun. Unlike some BB Creams that can oxidize, I have found that this one remains true to color from the time of application until the time that I remove it. It can be applied with a brush, a sponge or your fingers, and while all three methods work well I tend to prefer using my fingers. Its texture is just so nice that I like to feel it with my fingers. It offers the perfect coverage and weight for the warmer months of the year, but if you are like me and prefer lighter weight finishing products, then this will be a delight to use all year long.
According to L'OCCITANE,

Immortelle is known as the everlasting flower: it never fades, even after it has been picked. Its organic essential oil is rich in active molecules offering unique anti-aging beauty results. In order to guarantee the highest quality and the traceability of this golden flower, L'OCCITANE has invested in the very first large-scale, sustainable and organic immortelle plantation program in Corsica.

Use the medium shade for medium to darker skin tones or for a sunkissed effect. Use the light shade for a light slightly gold skin tone. Use the fair shade for a light slightly rosy skin tone.

Features:
  • Evens out skin tone: helps to conceal uneven skin tone and to blemish and brighten dull skin.
  • Smooths the skin: signs of stress and fatigue appear softened.
  • Protects the skin: helps to protect skin against damaging effects of photo-aging, thanks to its UV filters.
L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious BB Cream SPF 30 comes in three shades: Fair, Light and Medium. Of the three shades, I have Light (Clair 02) and Medium (Hâlé 03). Light is a better match for my skin tone than is Medium– which is too dark and warm for my complexion. I have, however, mixed the two shades with great results, and will likely continue to do so as the summer progresses. I hope that L'OCCITANE adds more shades since the formula is so wonderful!
Top to Bottom: Medium and Light
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 15.32% Purpose - Sunscreen. Inactive Ingredients: Cyclomethicone, Aqua/Water, Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone Talc, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Stearic Acid, Aluminum Hydroxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-12 Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Helichrysum Italicum Flower Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Lauroyl Lysine, Silicaalumina, Squalane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Sucrose Stearate, Polyglyceryl-2 Caprate, Sucrose Palmitate, Isoceteth-10, Adenosine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Glyceryl Linoleate, Propylene Carbonate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Peg/Ppg-18/18 Dimethicone, Parfum/Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limalool, Benzyl Salicylate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Ci 77499/Iron Oxides, Ci 77492/Iron Oxides Ci 77491/Iron Oxides.
Overall Assessment: If you love BB Creams, CC Creams, Tinted Moisturizers and light foundations, then L'OCCITANE Immortelle Precious BB Cream SPF 30 is definitely one to try!

  1. Did this replace their other tinted cream in the white tube? I'm away and can't find it on their website. I was going to ask you if you knew how it compares. Or maybe they repackaged it from a white tube to a blue tube.....

    1. If you mean the L'Occitane Sublime Beauty Cream, then I thin that one was discontinued a while ago. I never tried it so I can't compare it to this one, but this one is really fantastic!

    2. Yes, I finally returned home and checked my product which had been my favorite bb cream. That is indeed the product I have and indeed discontinued. I guess the one you reviewed is it's replacement. At some point I will have to test it out although recently I received a sample of Dr. Jart Premium BB cream spf 45 and really like it. Have you tried it?

    3. I had a feeling that was what you were talking about. I don't know if this one was intended as its replacement, or if they just decided to discontinue it and decided to launch a whole new type of BB Cream. This one is definitely worth trying at some point, though! I have been hearing a lot about the Dr. Jart BB Cream, but I haven't tried it yet. I really like the idea of an SPF 45 though! I will definitely try to get a sample!

    4. Yes, I basically am using my sample as sunscreen & foundation when I have to go out in the sun but want a 'little something' on my face. It's considerably thicker than the Sublime product. I'm glad I purchased two tubes during the January sale so I don't have to think about it for a while. ....a lot longer than you would considering we only have a few months of real sun.

    5. The thickness sounds interesting.

It's a good thing that you grabbed two tubes during the January sale! Yes, I definitely need to be concerned all year long since we have such temperate conditions all year that are punctuated by some heat and periodic rain. I definitely make sure to wear a high SPF all 12 months of the year.

  2. It sounds like a lovely BB cream! I've added it to my list of foundations to try! :) :) I also prefer a much more natural look, I don't like full coverage. My perfect look is having my own skin shine through, but with the imperfections and redness reduced.

    1. It really is, Miki! You and I seek the same type of coverage and finish– so I think that you will really like this! I also prefer to have my skin how through, and just to reduce any imperfections. Next time that you are near a L'OCCITANE boutique be sure to run in and feel the texture! I'm testing another foundation right now, but I will be going right back to this the first opportunity that I get! :-)

  3. I hadn't realized till recently that L'Occitane had a makeup line! These do sound lovely, and I'm glad they really suit you. Because of my sun damage, I do need more coverage these days. Nevertheless, next trip to L'Occi I need to play around with their samples!

  5. I have to admit, when I think of L'Occitane my mind automatically goes to skincare (I'm obsessed with their hand creams, almond shower oil, body lotions and body washes). I had no idea that had BB creams as well, it sounds fantastic!

  14. Can anyone tell me why, oh why this fabulous product has been discontinued?! (Cry!)
But I guess I more productive question would be, could you recommend a product that is as similar to this bb cream as you can get?
I've finally found what I've always wanted in a tinted moisturiser/foundation and it was taken from me, I'm quite distraught. I cannot even find it on online stores. (I should've looked earlier, when I first heard about its discontinuation)

    1. Hi Pina Sie,

I have absolutely no idea! I will try to see if I can find out the next time that I talk with L'Occitane. I sure hope that they didn't discontinue it! It is such a great BB Cream!

  16. Anyone know why this fabulous product has been discontinued?!
Or a more productive question would be, can you give recommendations on a bb cream that most closely reasembles this beauty?
I'd finally found what I've always been looking for in this product and now its been taken away from me, I'm so distraught!
