Years ago I used a really great sunscreen for the hair that Mastey made, and I suspect long ago discontinued. It has been that long since I have used a sunscreen for my hair, and it is something that I have sorely missed. Not only does my hair and scalp need protection, but by the end of every summer the sun transforms my hair from dark brown to a very seriously lightened reddish brown. While the color is nice, the sun damage is not. To make matters worse, I end up coloring my hair by the end of the season so that I have a color that is closer to its natural state. Therefore, when I discovered Nios Shield Leave-In Conditioner with Moroccan Argan Oil SPF 15, I knew that this was just what I needed to add into my haircare routine.

Nios Shield Leave-In Conditioner with SPF 15 offers sun protection for the scalp and hair while moisturizing and nourishing both. A wonderful added feature is that the Moroccan Argan Oil helps eradicate frizz while nourishing the hair and leaving it soft and shiny. While the ingredients list fragrance, I detect no discernible scent.

According to Nios Shield,

Offers year-round color and texture protection with a light, natural hold combined with SPF 15 sunscreen. Vitamin E and B5 hydrate and nourish your hair, while the built-in SPF sunscreen protects hair color and texture and scalp sunburn. The Moroccan argan oil helps tame frizz and leaves a healthy, shiny glow. All the benefits of multiple products in one! Style & Protect. That's Nios Shield.

About Nios Shield:

One perfect day, we got ready for some sun: we packed our beach towel and volleyball, threw on cool shades, and applied a generous amount of sunscreen over every imaginable surface - or so we thought. After a day of Frisbee and food, we went home to realize that those glorious sun beams bleached our hair and burnt a part of our bodies that we barely knew existed - our scalps!

We rushed to the store, eager to find a hair care product with sunscreen, but were only able to find ones with some UV filters (the equivalent of SPF 0.5!) and none with actual SPF.

So we pulled up our sleeves and went to it, crafting a line of hair-care products with built-in SPF for great looking hair, long-lasting color, and scalp protection to boot. Realizing that hair needs daily protection even when not at the beach, we added Moroccan Oil, Vitamin B, and wheat protein to ensure year-round healthy hair.

And so Nios Shield was born. A line that styles and protects both hair and scalp - now there's a win-win combination! Style + Protect. That's Nios Shield.

Overall Assessment: I am so happy to have discovered Nios Shield Leave-In Conditioner not just because it leaves my hair conditioned, shiny and frizz-free, but also because I finally have a sunscreen for my hair and scalp. This is really worth trying if you are seeking sun protection for your hair and scalp!
