Rouge Bunny Rouge Blusher Brush 002- Review

Rouge Bunny Rouge has proven once again that they make excellent makeup brushes in addition to their phenomenal makeup. During Beautyhabit's recent sale I decided to pick up the RBR Face Contour Brush #012 (reviewed here) as well as the Blusher Brush 002. I couldn't decide between them- so I did what any self respecting makeup & brush magpie would do- I threw caution to the wind and ordered both!
The Blusher Brush 002 is a thick and fluffy natural squirrel hair brush that has a larger head, but it still has enough flexibility and stability to pick up and deposit the perfect amount of blush. Rouge Bunny Rouge clearly states that "no animals are harmed in the collection of brush hairs. The hairs are collected from the grooming of the animal." The hair is really soft and silky- making it a real delight to use. The handle and ferrule have lovely proportions, and the brush is very well balanced and undeniably sturdy. Additionally, it is very comfortable in the hand. I have found that in addition to being an excellent blusher brush that this is also fantastic for applying just the right amount of pressed powder. I was a bit overzealous in the application of a highly pigmented blush and after blending it I further toned it down with a light dusting of powder, and this brush did it all so beautifully.
According to Rouge Bunny Rouge: This brush has a "comfortable, perfectly balanced wooden handle. This brush has been created specifically for powder blusher and is the ideal size and shape to ensure perfect application. Blusher refreshes your skin colour, but can also be used to create an oval face shape and contour cheeks, brows, jaw line etc."
As you can see- there is a considerable difference in the size of the Blusher Brush #002 when compared to the Face Contour Brush #012, but their shapes are ostensibly the same.
After my initial washing it shed only a single hair, and retained its original shape without any work on my part.
Overall assessment: This is not an inexpensive brush by any stretch of the imagination, but as with everything that I have tried from Rouge Bunny Rouge- it is an excellent luxury product that is uncompromising in quality.

  2. I'm sorry I missed the sale. Maybe the next time I'll have you be my personal shopper and order what I need! Can I trust you with my CC Lola? Or will my retirement funds go up in smoke?

  3. They look like wonderful brushes. While I'd like to build a good quality brush collection, I'm actually not all that particular about what I use. Most days I ignore brushes completely and just go at cream products with my fingers!

    1. Well, it is an expensive vice-- so it's not a bad habit to avoid! LOL! I have a good sized collection of Eco-Tools brushes that I love and still use, and I was quite happy with them before I caught Hakuhodo & RBR fever! :-) Sometimes there really is nothing more effective than fingers anyway!

  4. I don't own this yet & it looks fantastic. I'm a bit concerned that this is made from squirrel but like the company claims, hairs were collected from grooming. Hoping it's true. xo

    1. Hi Kath-- Yes, that was a huge concern for me as well. I just hope that what they are saying is true. Though I have never heard of grooming a squirrel! Hoping it's true is an understatement!!! :-) xo
