Loa Skin Botanical Beauty Elixir Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

Loa Skin is a wonderful small cruelty-free skincare brand from Vancouver, Canada that is invested in sustainable practices and using healthy ingredients to optimize the health of the skin. Loa Skin Botanical Beauty Elixir is a multi-purpose daily serum and moisturizer in one, and it is one of the most lovely face oils that I have tried in a very long time. Botanical Beauty Elixir was conceived to be as a replacement for additional lotions, creams and serums, but it can also be used as a cleansing oil, makeup remover, face primer, and as a deep conditioning treatment for the hair.

It is lightweight, fast absorbing, and it has the most intoxicatingly beautiful jasmine aroma that lingers and delights the senses. It leaves skin incredibly soft, supple, hydrated and luminous. Furthermore, this antioxidant-rich elixir is rich in Omega-3 and 6 Essential Fatty Acids, which help maintain moisture levels, and it also contains ingredients such as Calendula, Echinacea, Saw Palmetto that reduce inflammation and redness. It is intended for all types of skin.

About Loa Skin,

Our story began when co-founders Spencer and Tyler invented an effective solution for their skin issues, which had manifested as acne and chronically dry skin throughout their teenage and early adult life. After years of research and a startling scientific discovery, they created Botanical Beauty Elixir—an unrivalled multifunctional moisturizer which works to bring the skin back to its healthy state of renewal.

Loa Skin was brought to life along with the core fundamental values that both co-founders shared of inclusivity, animal welfare, environmental protection, plant-based nutrition, and science-driven results. As a conscious beauty brand, our goal is to empower people from all walks of life to overcome their skin adversity and claim their inherent right to natural beauty. We hope you'll join us in taking the new approach to beauty.

According to Loa Skin,

Botanical Beauty Elixir provides maximum absorption and moisturization: rich in omega-3 + 6 essential fatty acids, which easily penetrate into the skin's epidermis—the outer fatty layer of skin responsible for retaining moisture.

We meticulously selected 15 of the world's most effective and scientifically-studied botanicals to infuse into our formula. Grown in an ethical and high-quality manner, every ingredient in Botanical Beauty Elixir is certified vegan, cruelty-free and palm oil-free.

HOW IT WORKS:

Supercharged with our in-house infusion of 15 powerful botanicals (Calendula, Echinacea, Saw Palmetto, etc) which reduce irritation, breakouts, and redness.

Extremely rich in omega-3 and 6 essential fatty acids — critical for repairing the skin's moisture barrier, maintaining hydration, and preventing dry skin.

Unlike other moisturizers, our Elixir is low in Omega-9 — a fatty acid that causes breakouts and disrupts the skin’s moisture barrier when in excess.

Contains Astaxanthin, one of the most potent antioxidants ever discovered.

1 PRODUCT, 4 WAYS TO USE:

- Botanical Beauty Elixir replaces any lotion, cream, serum or moisturizer you currently use. It can also be used as an oil cleanser, make-up remover and primer, and a deep conditioning treatment for the hair.

- Designed to nourish and soothe all skin types; even the most sensitive.

Key Ingredients & Their Attributes:

Astaxanthin: As one of the most potent antioxidants ever discovered, this algae-derived ingredient helps to protect our skin from UV damage. It also has anti-aging benefits in helping to reduce hyperpigmentation, smooth irregular skin texture, and protect against skin wrinkling.

Evening Primrose: Containing 10% of the rare GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and a high linoleic acid content, these omega-6 essential fatty acids serve as some of the most critical nutrients for the skin's barrier. They're vital for moisturizing and retaining hydration in the skin, limiting breakouts, and combatting irritation.

Saw Palmetto: While unusual to see in skincare, It's effective for lowering excess sebum production in the skin. This makes it useful for reducing breakouts and oily skin.

Calendula: Commonly known as marigold, this bright yellow flower is infused into our formula at a high concentration. It improves skin hydration, helps to protect against photoaging caused by UV rays, and relieves irritations, redness, and dry skin.

Gotu Kola: Traditionally used in Ayurveda, gotu kola is packed full of numerous soothing terpenoid compounds which stimulate collagen and hyaluronic acid production in the skin.

Ingredients: Evening Primrose Oil*, Hemp Oil*, Chia Oil*, Calendula Flower*, Astragalus Root*, Echinacea Root*, Gotu Kola Leaf*, Saw Palmetto Berry*, Licorice Root*, Turmeric Root*, Rosemary Co2 Extract*, Astaxanthin Co2 Extract+, Bergamot Oil+, Blue Chamomile Oil*, Jasmine Extract+, Sunflower Oil*. *Organic  +Non-GMO.

  1. This multifunctional face oil sounds positively incredible! I am using a nighttime antiaging cream with astaxanthin now, and I love it. But this oil has so much more!

    1. Hi! I love this oil too! The bottle indicates that it lasts 12 months after opening it. In general, have found that some oils last longer, and some turn sooner than the bottles may indicate. I always watch to see if the texture and aroma starts to change, and if it does, I stop using it. If you aren't sure about whether yours is starting to turn, I would reach out to LOA directly for advice: https://loaskin.com/pages/contact-us
