In the event that you haven't yet heard about Models Own, a British beauty brand, that recently launched in the United States, then be advised that this is a line that is most assuredly worthy of your consideration. They make high quality, affordable products that are a real pleasure to use, and now they can be found at Ulta.

Given the traction that matte lipsticks have gained over the last few years, it should come as no surprise that Models Own would have imported a wonderful variant to our shores. Available in six highly saturated shades, I have been testing Models Own Lix Matte Liquid Lipstick in Coral Fresh 03 and Raspberry Mojito 04, and they are both gorgeous.

I tend to avoid most matte lipsticks because my lips tend to become dry and chapped from many of them, but I am pleased to say that this was not the case with Models Own. The texture of these liquid matte lipsticks are velvety smooth, they glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color evenly, and they neither bleed into lip lines, nor do they flake. Once this formula dries down, it offers a velvety-matte finish. It should be noted that Models Own Lix Matte Liquid Lipstick has a refreshing mint smell and taste, but it is neither uncomfortable, nor is it long-lasting. What is long-lasting, however, is the wear-time of these liquid lipsticks that boast impressive longevity. I am able to get a solid 5-7 hours of wear from a single application of Raspberry Mojito, and when it does fade, it does so evenly, and it leaves behind a lovely stain.
According to Models Own,

  1. The shades are gorgeous but mint is a no-no for my lips, sadly

    1. These definitely are not for you, Allison– the peppermint definitely makes them a deal breaker for your lips!

  2. These are very long lasting but they are also the most matte lipsticks I've tried. The colors are beautiful but intense.

    1. They are very matte, indeed! They are intense shades, but they can be blotted down.

  3. Very pretty! They look kind of strong to me at first swatch. I'd probably love them when they wear off a bit and leave the stain behind. I'm shy when it comes to a bold lip.

    1. They are definitely intense, but can be blotted down to lessen the intensity.
