Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30 | Review

Just because it isn't summer doesn't mean that we shouldn't be diligent about applying and reapplying sunscreen. I have very a short list of favorite facial sunscreens, and Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30 is among my all-time favorites!

This non-chemical mineral sunscreen has a lightweight, nearly watery consistency that melts into the skin  and leaves behind no white cast or greasy residue. It dries completely clear, and it gives skin a gorgeous luminosity. Furthermore, it serves as a phenomenal makeup primer, and it utilizes "diamond encapsulation to deflect light and blur wrinkles"– all of which makes this skin perfecter something of an Instagram filter in a bottle. In fact, I have noticed that I can forego a foundation or tinted moisturizer because this sunscreen makes my skin look so even in tone and luminous.

It is very gentle on the skin, is completely non-comedogenic, and is a perfect choice for sensitive skin and for people with Rosacea.

According to Radical,

Protect, perfect and prime - the 3 in one SPF30 sun protection that uses non chemical filters to protect against UVA/UVB rays, diamond encapsulation to deflect light and blur wrinkles and priming elements to provide the ideal long wearing base for make-up. The ultimate multitasking product for women who want perfection in sun protection.

  1. Wow, this sounds absolutely perfect. I reviewed a sample packet of Radical Skincare's age defying exfoliating pads and liked them so much I actually popped for a full-size jar. I would love to love their sunscreen, because I haven't found one that works for when I'm running or working out. Thanks!

    1. They are both excellent. I love both, but they are so different from one another. That said, if you are trying to ramp up purchases to get a step-up gift from one of the two lines, then that might sway your decision. I definitely wouldn't miss out on the TATCHA LE lipstick, though.

    1. Well, let's see. They are both 100% Mineral sunscreens that also serve as excellent primers. They both perfect the complexion, and offer excellent sun protection (Radical SPF 30 and TATCHA SPF 35). Both include high quality skincare ingredients, and are fantastic on all skin types, including very sensitive skin.

Here are the ingredients of each:

RADICAL Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 7.75% and Titanium Dioxide (.87%: Absorb, reflect, or scatter light (including ultraviolet radiation in light) to protect skin. Water, Caprylyl Methicone, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Isododecane, Titanium Dioxide, Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sea Salt, Alumina, Methicone, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Disodium EDTA, PEG-10, Glycerin, Isostearic Acid, Iron Oxides, Adenosine, Lecithin, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Niacinamide, Tocopherol, Diamond Powder, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Superoxide Dismutase, Tromethamine.

Diamond Powder: This ingredient is capable of redirecting light. Wrinkles and imperfections appear less pronounced.

Titanium Dioxide: Mineral based sun protection that doesn't leave white streaks or a cast.

Zinc Oxide: Protects against sunburn and other damage to the skin caused by ultraviolet light.

Coffee: Protection against skin damage such as sunburn cell formation and DNA degradation.

TATCHA Ingredients: Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 15%, Octisalate 5%. Inactive Ingredients: Water, Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propanediol, Hdi/trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Eriobotrya Japonica Leaf Extract, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate (Licorice Extract), Glycyrrhiza Inflata (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum, Sericin (Silk Extract), Algae Extract, Lecithin, Inositol (Rice Extract), Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sorbitan Tristearate, Sodium Dilauramidoglutamide Lysine, Silica, Potassium Sorbate, Beheneth-20, Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Dimethylacrylamide Crosspolymer, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Titanium Dioxide, Methicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Dimethiconol, Disodium Edta, Iron Oxides (Ci77491), Tin Oxide, Mica, Fragrance (Natural), Ethylhexylglycerin, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.

The consistency of the Radical sunscreen is light and watery and immediately sinks into the skin and leaves the skin glowing. The TATCHA sunscreen is a thick cream that melts into the skin immediately. Both are silky smooth, and neither leave behind a greasy residue, nor do they leave behind a white cast.

They are both exceedingly luxurious and a joy to use. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference, but I really love both and will definitely buy both after I finish them up.

      I hope that helps! :-)

  5. I got a trial size of the Tatcha and used it once. I wasn't overwhelmingly thrilled. Going to test it out some more this weekend. The Radical one sounds similar to the Lancome and Kiehl's brand as far as texture.

    1. If you xo not love the TATCHA, then you might prefer the Radical sunscreen. It is also similar in texture to the one that I reviewed from Clarins.

    2. You mean the HG one (that may no longer be the HG)? *wink*

    3. That's the one, and I have to tell you, I prefer the RADICAL version to the Clarins!
