African Botanics Marula Plantes d'Afrique Shower Cream | An Effusive Review

At this point, I don't think that I need to belabor the point that African Botanics is revolutionizing skin and body care by continually producing cutting edge products that are healthy, effective, use the highest quality ingredients available, and are utterly extraordinary to use. Their quest to create healthy luxury products, with sustainably harvested indigenous ingredients from the Noik's native South Africa, continually raises the bar on what it means to use luxe products without any fillers or unsafe ingredients. Furthermore, the textures and aromas of each one of their thoughtfully conceived and executed products shows an attention to detail seldom seen, and trust me when I tell you that all of their products feel divine, and are an unmitigated joy to use. One simply cannot help but wax poetic about their wonderful creations, and once you try any of their products you will be a convert.
African Botanics Marula Plantes d'Afrique Shower Cream is among the newest products to have recently launched, and I assure you that there is nothing in your shower that comes close to this hydrating cleanser.

The first thing that one is struck by is the divine aroma that might be described as a gorgeous commingling of the Green Rooibos Tea and Honeybush Leaf Extracts, the Cape Rose Geranium and the Lemongrass. The scent is warm and comforting and it immediately soothes the spirit and calms the mind.

The non-foaming cream cleanser is a sublime velvety cream that feels indescribably silky and luxurious against the skin. The moment that the rich cream comes in contact with water, it transforms into an ultra emollient emulsion. It is infused with small, and gentle, exfoliating particles, that are comprised of crushed Baobab fruit and ancient volcanic lava minerals, that efficiently and effectively remove dead skin cells without ever damaging or irritating the skin.

The formula is exceptionally moisturizing, and leaves skin silky soft, supple, hydrated, soothed, calmed, luminous, and thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated. There is also a discernible lifting and toning sensation that one notes after use, and skin looks and feels absolutely renewed and refreshed. African Botanics Marula Plantes d'Afrique Shower Cream is moisturizing enough that I could even forgo a moisturizer following my shower, if I so chose to, but I do prefer using oils and moisturizers afterward.

This antioxidant rich anti-aging formula is filled with nourishing ingredients such as Marula Oil, Baobab Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Kalahari Seed Oil and Shea Butter that moisturize the skin and leave it indescribably soft.

Furthermore the carefully selected ingredients have the following attributes,

Wild-harvested Marula, Baobab, Kalahari Melon and Kigelia Africana oils are rich in many important antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids which help strengthen and stabilize the collagen fibers that support the skin. Restorative Cape Mahogany Butter known as Mafura is merged with Shea Butter and whipped into a luxurious creamy base for soothing deep hydration while purifying, detoxifying the epidermis and restoring its natural regeneration functions.
According to African Botanics,

Plantes d’Afrique Shower Cream was inspired by an ancient African ritualistic bathing experience utilizing wild-harvested botanicals and unique plant elements. Infused with crushed Baobab fruit and ancient volcanic lava minerals, this multi-sensory body cleanser gently polishes, refines and revitalizes skin while protecting its moisture barrier. Antioxidant-rich Green Rooibos Tea and Honeybush extracts promote a smooth skin texture. Cape Rose Geranium and Lemongrass boost circulation, purify, tighten and tone the skin.

DirectionsApply AM/PM to wet skin. For skin requiring more intensive exfoliation, apply to dry skin. Massage in circular ascending movements concentrating on rough areas (heels, knees, elbows). The rich, creamy texture transforms into a delightful emulsion upon contact with water. Take a moment to enjoy the beautiful aroma then rinse well to reveal ultra-smooth, soft skin.

I actually prefer to apply African Botanics Marula Plantes d'Afrique Shower Cream to dry skin and then massage it in a circular motion, and then let it stand for a few moments to allow all of the moisturizers to deeply penetrate my skin. I then jump in the shower and emulsify the cream by adding water, and I continue to massage it into my skin and then rinse. Silkier skin, I know not!
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Trichila Emetica (Cape Mahogany Mafura) Seed Butter*, Citrillus Lanatus (Kalahari Melon) Seed Oil*, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Fruit Powder*, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil*, Cetearyl Alcohol, Octyldodecanol, Pumice, Kigelia Africana Fruit Extract*, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos Tea) Extract, Cyclopia Genistoides (Honeybush) Leaf Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Roseum (Cape Rose Geranium) Essential Oil, Cymbopogon Citratus (Lemongrass) Essential Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin. *Organic and Wild-Harvested Ingredients.
Overall Assessment: Honestly, it really doesn't get any better than this. I have never ever found myself this obsessed with an exfoliating body cleanser than this, but truthfully there isn't anything else like this on the market. A+

  3. Wow, that is high praise, Helen! I don't know if I've ever used a shower cream before, let alone one with exfoliating particles. I like your method of application to get the most out of it. The entire African Botanics line sounds fantastic. I hope I'll get to try it one day. I hope that Barney's will stock it someday to make it more accessible.
