Empties Post Volume XXXII: April 2015

Press Samples, Samples & Purchased by Me (Affiliate Links)

I think that it is rather obvious that I didn't finish up many products in April. The bulk of the items that I used were samples, and the only full size product used was a shave cream that my husband used as well. That said, I am always pleased to toss my empties into the recycle bin, and finishing anything is better than finishing nothing in my book.

Here are the products that I finished up this month:

1) Trader Joe's Moisturizing Cream Shave in Honey Mango: I honestly couldn't even guess how many tubes of this I have purchased over the years. It is ultra creamy, super moisturizing, and it smells delicious. I usually buy 2-4 tubes at a time. It is so great and affordable, and highly recommend it!

2) MoroccanOil Body Soufflé ($56.00 for 6.4 oz. from Nordstrom, Barneys New York, Amazon): Did I ever love this stuff! It is super emollient and hydrating, and it smells divine! I want to soak in a bathtub filled with this delectable body cream!

3) First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ($20.00 for 5 oz. from Sephora, Amazon, Beauty.com & SkinStore): As you have already noted, three packets of this was all it took to make it on my April Skincare Lust List! It is gentle, cleans thoroughly and is completely non-stripping! I need a full size tube soon!

4) Assorted perfume samples: I tested out some of the perfume samples in my stash, and while none of them resulted in full size purchases they were fun to try.

5) La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream ($85.00 for .50 oz., $160.00 for 1 oz. and $295.00 for 2 oz. from Nordstrom, Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus & Bloomingdale's): Somehow I ended up with multiple samples of the La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream, and I have to say that I really really really like it! I am already using the next small jar. It leaves my skin indescribably soft, supple and hydrated, and it's not too rich for my combination skin the way the original formula is.

What did you use up, give away, return or toss this month? Any great products to share your thoughts on, or any duds to report? Do tell!

  1. Great empties, Helen! I emptied several skincare items this month! Cerave sensitive skin cleanser, Eve Lom Morning Time cleanser, Kose Softymo cleansing oil. And one Eve Lom Rescue Mask. And a Pixi Glow Tonic.

Hmm, if I can only finish one color makeup products I would be all set. :)

    1. Thanks, Belly! Nice job on your empties! Isn't it a great feeling dumping those empty containers into the recycle bin?!

I completely agree, makeup is a whole different thing, and it seems to take an eternity to finish anything! It certainly would ease the guilt each time that one buys more! <3 Have a fun weekend! :)

  2. Didn't know about the TJ's shaving cream! ;o They do have some good skincare things. My favorite is the Olay knockoff with zinc oxide. I usually slather this on my arms and legs for sun protection. :)

    1. Hi Lena, Oh you must try it! It is a great product, and it is so affordable! I agree with you that they have some good skincare products! I haven't tried that Olay knock off! I will have to look at it next time I go to the drugstore! Thanks for the heads-up!

  3. I'd love to try La Mer moisturizer. I should stop in at Neiman's next time in Boston and see if I can get a sample. And the TJ shave cream, I didn't know anything about it, but I can use some shave cream so I'll pick some up next trip. Also heard such great things about FAB cleanser. If I didn't have so much cleanser, I'd see what all the raves are about.

    1. I would definitely recommend trying to get a sample (or two). You have to try the TJ's Shave Cream. My husband loves it, and it leaves his face so soft. It's amazing and affordable! I am with you– I have way too many cleansers, but I definitely want to get the FAB Cleanser as soon as I use up a few of mine!

  4. As usual I finished nothing. I did come to the end of two mascaras though. I'm getting close on Rodan & Fields night moisturizer and Philosophy Release Me Eye Makeup Remover.

  7. I can't believe you made it through ALL of those perfume testers! For some reason I never get through even one! I have a keepsake box full of them... the bottom row is probably gross by now LMAO

    1. Hi Brooke,

Well, I don't think it quite as impressive as it seems. When I didn't like the way that they smelled on me I sprayed them on towels and near the kitty litter box! LOL!

  8. I finished a bunch of things in the past few days, some of the them listed here: Kiehl's multi-correction night creme (pretty good), Tatcha deep brightening serum (travel size; a staple), Andalou super goji peptide perfecting creme (pretty good), Andalou toner (blossom+leaf; with geranium; a staple. Smells great too.), Too Faced "Better than sex" mascara (a staple).
I am now trying Belif milky moisturizer hydra balancing (neat stuff, cost effective and very hydrating), and Fresh Seaberry Oil (deep hydrating), Fresh lotus moisturizer (decent moisturizer), Fresh sugar face polish (love it), Sunday Riley Good Genes (a staple). I also sampled Sunday Riley Luna oil-minus the artificial color, I actually like that stuff.

Also finally got myself some Jo Malone Pink Pepperpod body wash (VERY expensive, but that scent is oh.so.good). And then there is the Rituals body scrub with mint and eucalyptus-the best ever!

    1. What an impressive job! I need to try some Andalou products! I have tried the tester of Fresh Seaberry Oil and was very impressed by it! Fresh has so many amazing products! I was really off-put by the artificial color in Luna– it just don't get it.

Jo Malone makes so many really wonderful products. I haven't tried the Pink Pepperpod Body Wash, but that sounds absolutely delectable! I must sniff it! You know me and Rituals– I absolutely love love love that line! Their scrubs are outstanding!

    1. If you can score a sample of the La Mer Soft Cream, I think that you would really enjoy trying it before committing to the hefty price tag.

As always, you did an amazing job on your empties, Iris! <3
