pürminerals Air Perfection Cushion Foundation | Review

Finding a great foundation can be such a daunting task, and this difficulty is often exacerbated by the fact that so many of them oxidize when mixed with one's personal body chemistry. One of the first things that I noticed about pürminerals Air Perfection Cushion Foundation is that the color remained true all day long, and the finish is simply heaven-spun perfection.

This is a lightweight, yet effortlessly buildable, foundation that glides across the face with ease– leaving skin with a perfect slightly dewy finish. This liquid foundation is suspended in a  clever sponge delivery system in the compact, and one only needs to tap the applicator sponge against the foundation soaked sponge to release the product.

pürminerals Air Perfection Cushion Foundation effortlessly evens out skin-tone, but the finish is natural and infinitely flattering. Yet, while the finish is quite natural, the foundation is itself impressively pigmented. I love the dewy finish, therefore I don't set this foundation with a powder, but that is certainly an option. I find that the formula is long-wearing, and lasts on my skin all day long.

pürminerals Air Perfection Cushion Foundation is filled with antioxidant rich anti-aging ingredients that are good for your skin, but for those sensitive to silicone-based ingredients be advised that it does contain Dimethicone. I am often sensitive to products that are filled with silicone, but this foundation has caused me no trouble whatsoever.

Claims:
  • Help soothe visible irritation for a clearer, more comfortable complexion
  • Provide texture-plumping hydration that softens the look of lines
  • Moisturize, smooth and protect with antioxidant benefits
  • Deliver a megadose of anti-aging amino acids and vitamins
pürminerals Air Perfection Cushion Foundation is available in three shades: Light, Medium and Tan. The shade that I use is Light, but I do hope that they expand their color selection so that it can be worn by many more people.
Left to Right: Light, Medium and Tan

  1. I tried a sample of LaNeige cushion foundation, and another Korean skincare brand too, and I think they are quite intriguing: so light, so fresh-looking. That's great that purMinerals has one too!

    1. I completely agree, they really are so fresh-looking and light. I have tried a few samples of Amore Pacific's, but this one is half the price, but also without sunscreen!

  2. I love the idea of this foundation but I'm pretty sure the lightest shade will be too dark for me.

    1. It really is lovely, but the only real problem is that it only comes in three shades! The lightest one is probably a bit too dark for you! I really hope that they expand the color range!

    1. Hi Maeve! If you have had good luck with all of their foundations– then I think that you should definitely take a look at this one as well! I'm so glad that you liked my review! I'd love to hear what you think of it, if you end up truing it!

  4. I love these sort of foundation cushions ever since I tried the IT Cosmetics CC Veil cushion thingy. I hope Purminerals expand the shade range as well; three shades are simply not enough.

    1. I haven't tried the one from IT Cosmetics, but have heard such great things about it! Yes, I agree– they really need to expand the color range a good deal. They need far more colors. The lightest isn't light enough for many, and the darkest isn't dark enough for many.

  6. interesting that they choose not to include spf protection which is one of the selling points of traditional air cushion compacts. is this one your first?

    1. I have tried several samples of the one from Amore Pacific (which has an SPF 60), but this is the first one that I own in a full size container. The lack of a sunscreen doesn't bother me since I wear a separate sunscreen. Plus, lately I have been reading and hearing dermatologists stating that sunscreens in makeup are less effective than wearing a separate sunscreen.

  7. I've read like a 100 reviews on this one in the past few weeks but it's always great to see one more opinion! I definitely want to try this one at some point. I mean, it's my obligation as a beauty blogger, right?

    1. Hi Melissa! It's definitely worth checking out! I have been quite happy with it, but the one drawback is the very limited color range!

    2. Myeah, that's often the problem huh? I need a pale yellow shade...

    3. It really is! I think that many lines really need to radically expand their color ranges!

    1. It's definitely a really great concept, but they are not the first to come out with this type of foundation infused sponge in compact! It's a really easy way to transport and use liquid foundation!

  11. The foundation is great but the light really isn't light. I wish they'd make Fair and other shades.

    1. I agree completely! The only problem that I see with this product is the very limited color range, and you are right the light really isn't that light!

  12. I've enjoyed my Amore Pacific CC cushion compact due to the coverage and lovely smell (you have to like the amore pacific fragrance, it is in lots of their stuff) but I may not repurchase as the lightest shade is a bit dark for me. I've heard mixed reviews about the Laneige, but I suppose if I get it at target I could return it- hate to return used cosmetics. We'll see. The cushion takes a little getting used to, but I really like having an easy way to carry around a liquid face cover. I do recommend the Amore Pacific but it is expensive (you get 2 cushions) and the lightest color is too dark for those with light and super light complexions! Maybe I'll try the Pur Minerals- we'll see!

    1. Amore Pacific makes a great cushion compact! Their products do smell delicious! Their light isn't as light as it could be– which is also the case with this one as well. I haven't tried the one from Laneige, but have also heard mixed reviews about it. I completely agree with you that the cushion takes a little getting used to, but it really is so convenient to have a fuss free and mess free way of carrying around liquid foundation for touch-ups! This one is definitely worth checking out, if you don't repurchase Amore Pacific!

  13. Oh and while the SPF is a nice bonus in face makeup I only consider them as a mild additive for a good coat of sunscreen underneath. Unless you are drowning your face in foundation or tinted moisturizer you won't be applying enough- especially if it is expensive!

    1. Exactly! It's never a good idea to rely only on the SPF in makeup, and a good separate SPF is essential.

  14. If I used foundation I would totally try this. It looks literally mess free which is near to impossible with others. I would check this out if I wore it... you make it seem great :D
