Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo Eyeshadow Tadzio No. 9 | Review and Swatches

Purchased by me (Affiliate Links)

Eyes To Kill Solo Eyeshadows, a more recent addition to Armani's core line, feature gorgeous shades of exemplary quality. The formula is ultra finely milled, has a creamy soft texture, and superb pigmentation. They effortlessly glide across the skin, lay down color perfectly, and blend without incident. This formula is perfection, and Tadzio No. 9 is a taupe-lovers dream-come-true!

Available in 24 gorgeous shades, and I swatched all of the shades available at my local Sephora here.
According to Armani Beauty,

Inspired by the natural elements, Eyes To Kill Solo offers a dense and deep "Macro Color" range of 24 shades - electric, mineral or nude. Subtle, silky, intense or sheer materials blend together as light as air to offer these single eye shadows a distinctive luminosity. A made-to-measure approach that allows each shade to reach near-perfection thanks to a technological formulation that reveals all the beauty of the pigments.
Tadzio No. 9 is a stunning shimmering taupe kissed by a golden bronze base, but it is neutral enough when juxtaposed to my cool skin and hazel eyes. While this finish is unquestionably sparkling and twinkling, with a nearly metallic sheen, it remains refined and elegant rather than garish or over-the-top.
The creamy texture lends itself to exceptionally smooth application, and without any fallout whatsoever. Tadzio is perfection all by itself when you just want a wash of color and liner, or when used in conjunction with other shades for a sophisticated smokey eye. Whether worn as a wash of color  or built up for maximum opacity, Tadzio is a truly stunning shade of extraordinary quality. I get all day wear without creasing with and without primer, but your wear may vary, and I should note that I do not have oily eyelids.
The top swatch was applied in a single pass with a light hand, and the bottom swatch is a single pass applied with a heavier hand (in both cases I used my finger to swatch).
I took all of the pictures in natural light outside, and varied the exposure to the sun in order to demonstrate how Tadzio reacts to varied lighting effects.
The bottom swatches illustrate the quasi-metallic sheen that Tadzio possesses.

Overall Assessment: A true thing of beauty in every conceivable way. If you love taupe eyeshadows of extraordinary texture, then Tadzio is well worth considering. I believe that this formula is one of the very best ever made from the legendary House of Armani, and I couldn't be more thrilled by it!

  1. Isn't this one pretty? That's my first pick from the new eyeshadow line-up as well! It pulls cooler on me. I'm relatively sure it's something that looks different on different people!

    1. Hi Sunny, This one is definitely gorgeous! I'm not surprised that it pulls a touch cool on you, and I agree with you that it probably looks different on different people. I think that it is one of those special colors with a chameleon-like ability to color shift on varied skin tones. It's the only shade that I have from the range, and while there was another one (#10) that reminded me a touch of Burberry Pale Barley– I decided to stick with Tadzio for now. I have so many eyeshadows that need attention that I am trying not to over-purchase!

    1. It really is, and it's just your type of shade, Marcia! Two Sephora locations have them here: Century City and Malibu! I nearly fell over when I saw the display the first time! I know that there is a location in Manhattan as well. Someone else told me that they had seen one in the Bay Area as well! Too bad that they don't have it on the website and at all locations! The texture is much better than their quads– it's definitely much creamier to the touch!

    1. Hi Deborah, Same goes for me! You are so right– they are effortless shades that work so well combined with other shades for the perfect daily look! More often than not I find myself just using such shades as a wash of color with a winged liner. This is a particularly spectacular taupe!

  9. I have never tried any Armani makeup. Even the packaging is luxe! I love those shades: subtle yet just enough bling!

    1. Hi Allison, I definitely think this is the finest formula that they make in their eyeshadows. The packaging is definitely luxe, but I would actually prefer just the pans to put in a Z-Palette to save space. The color and texture are both just extraordinary! Definitely subtle bling!
