evanhealy Rose Cleansing Milk | A Treat for the Skin and the Senses | Review

Press Sample (Unaffiliated Links)

My most recent skincare discoveries, that have me completely over-the-moon, are the mind-blowingly gentle and effective products from evanhealy. I first began discussing evanhealy after receiving my facial from Joan Shure at the Pharmaca Friends & Family Event at the Pacific Palisades location last month (reviewed here, and my coverage and review is featured by evanhealy here). I have since been trying out a handful of evanhealy products, and am thrilled by the quality and efficacy of the line. I then had the extraordinary privilege of receiving Joan's Luminescence Signature Treatment, a luxurious 90 minute facial (review forthcoming) featuring evanhealy products, and all I can say is that these products (and this aesthetician) are so extraordinary that I'm wondering why it took me so long to try them.

About evanhealy,

evanhealy is an artisan-quality skin care treatment line created by aesthetician Evan Healy. Her holistic approach draws from traditional plant lore, aromatherapy, ayurveda, and homeopathy. Through her experience with holistic therapies Evan has observed the connection between plants and skin. Rather than treating areas of imbalance such as an overly oily condition, the more holistic, successful and long-term solution is to support the totality of skin functions using simple plant-based formulations and non-invasive treatment methods. This approach encourages the skin, with its innate ability to regulate itself, to breathe.

evanhealy Rose Cleansing Milk is a delectably earthy rose scented cleanser that does a remarkable job thoroughly cleansing the skin, and does so without leaving behind any greasy film or residue. If you have been put off by cleansers that don't produce a heady foam, and have generally felt the need to double cleanse to remove the vestiges of lotion/cream cleansers-- then you will be pleasantly surprised by evanhealy Rose Cleansing Milk. In fact, skin is left petal soft, balanced and toned while simultaneously perfectly cleansed, and never stripped. While it boasts a gentle formula it is a mighty powerhouse in its ability to effectively draw out impurities and clean out clogged pores. My skin looks luminous and refined every time that I use this lovely cleanser, and the effects are so marked that I have been using Rose Cleansing Milk daily since receiving it. It is an amazing addition to my current skincare line, and while I can use it with all of my other products-- I am particularly happy when it is used with evanhealy Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum-- Rose, a delectable luxury facial oil (review forthcoming), and evanhealy Rose Petal Facial Tonic Hydrosol (review forthcoming).
According to evanhealy,

Our creamy cleansing milk, handmade with regenerating plant oils, antioxidant-rich gotu kola and purifying white kaolin clay, leaves skin feeling clean, relaxed and refreshed.

With the addition of shea butter from the Tapko Widows Cooperative of Ghana, wild-crafted botanical extracts from Colorado and rose geranium floral water from Washington, we’re deepening our commitment to the family-owned farms and women’s cooperatives of the world.

Vitalizing plant hydrosols combine with fresh steam-distilled rosy-leaf geranium to thoroughly cleanse combination skin.

Rose Cleansing Milk pairs the creaminess of a plant-milk with the lightly lathering action of natural yucca root creating a nourishing, effective and deep cleansing product. This skin-balancing formula effectively draws impurities out of tiny dermal pores leaving skin exquisitely clean. Daily use softens and loosens the hardened waxy deposits that are blackheads. Adding plant oils and floral waters to the skin restores vitality, balances hydration and refines pores resulting in skin that is soft, supple and resilient.

Our gentle Cleansing Milks are made from nourishing plant oils and antioxidant-rich floral hydrosols. Together they create a holistic cleansing action that effectively draws impurities out of tiny dermal pores, softening and loosening hardened waxy deposits (blackheads). As we age, natural oil production begins to slow. Cleansing twice daily balances and restores hydration, refines pores – resulting in skin that is soft, supple and toned.

What is the purpose of a cleanser? (A deceptively simple question.) A cleanser's purpose is to mix with and dissolve excess sebum, refine skin texture, 'lift' impurities, and provide a balanced condition for moisturizing.

Suggested use:
  • Splash face with warm water
  • Pump a small amount of cleanser into the palm of your hand
  • Dribble a little water to mix
  • Massage into face and neck working in an upward and outward circular motion
  • Rinse with warm water and pat dry, follow with Facial Tonic and one of our Oil Serums and/or Day Moisturizer
For all skin conditions – especially skin with oily/dry areas.
Contains no sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates. No GMOs, petroleum-based products, parabens, gluten, or synthetic ingredients or fragrances. Cruelty free.Vegan.

Overall assessment: A truly amazing cleanser from an extraordinary line. I'm so smitten with the line that I have already made multiple purchases-- so there is much more to come!

$28.95-$28.99 for 4 oz. from evanhealy and Pharmaca (Unaffiliated Links).

  1. Hi there,

I have a question: do you think this is suitable for very dry skin? I am currently using Korres 3 in 1 milk cleanser, which is super nice, but I'm always looking to expand and try new things. I worry because I've used "milk" and cream cleansers that while never foamed, did completely dry out my skin. Also, I'm hesitant to use anything with clay in it as clay, no matter what type, is inherently drying (clay absorbs moisture). I can't use anything that foams, obviously. To give you a sense of how dry my skin is: I never have black heads or clogged pores, don't break out, and have invisible pores...all signs of very dry skin (and winter flakes too!). But besides the clay, the ingredients in this look so great. So just wondering if you'd recommend this for very dry skin or is it a no go?

    1. Hello! Well, that's a very good question. I don't find it drying in the least bit, and my skin is never left tight or stripped. That said, I have normal/combination skin. evanhealy suggests that it is "for all skin conditions-- especially skin with oily/dry areas." However, if my skin was very dry to the extent that I never had clogged pores and didn't break out-- then I might want to try a sample to see whether the kaolin left my skin feeling at all dry. I do find that the combination of ingredients feels quite soothing and nourishing since it also contains aloe, coconut oil, shea butter and a whole assortment of oils. My suspicion is that you would like it, but I would hate for you to buy it and find that it wasn't a good match for you. I can reach out to the company to see what they would say, if you would like! I will also tell you that they have a Coconut Cream Cleanser that it utterly delectable- that definitely contains no kaolin-- here is the link:

Joan used it on me during my facial, and I really thought that it was extraordinary! This is definitely a real treat for the skin!

    2. Oh, that coconut cleanser looks really yummy. I'm such a sucker for anything rose based, that I am tempted by the rose cleanser. I might drop by Whole Foods and see if they have a tester out and then try it on my hand and see. :)

Btw, after reading your Meme Box review (which I had never heard of until reading about it here), I ordered a couple of boxes and I have already received one of them! (They very kindly treated me to DHL Express shipping at no additional charge!) I got the No Makeup Makeup box today and I love it! First of all--the packaging! OMG. Pink! Even the bubble envelope it comes in. So sweet. And I loved all the products and they were so unique. Very happy! (I also ordered and am waiting for Lucky Box 9 and The Cute Wish List 3).

    3. It is scrumptious-- when Joan put it on me I went a little crazy over the scent, and how luscious it felt!

Actually, if you go into Whole Foods to try out the Rose Cleanser on your hand-- why don't you ask one of the Sales Associates in Whole Body if they have any samples. Since it's in a pump bottle they could also probably make you a sanitary sample to try at home! You could do a test patch on part of your face to see if you find it at all drying, and if not you could try it on your whole face. Like you, I am a total sucker for rose based products-- so this was a big win for me. I have to tell you that I have two more rose products from evanhealy coming very soon-- her beautiful rose oil and her rose hydrosol-- and they are both spectacular! I have since gone and bought a couple of other things from the line that Joan used on me during my facial! Also, I have to tell you that I have a Pharmaca Gift Card giveaway coming up soon-- and it's definitely worth tossing your hat in the ring since they sell evanhealy products there (and the GC can be used online). Keep an eye out!

OMG-- isn't MEMEBOX amazing?! I have another review coming up soon-- I am just smitten! I completely agree the pink packaging-- right down to the bubble wrap mailer envelope just puts a big smile on my face! They ship so fast via DHL, and I swear they send me an email with a tracking number and it seems to come the next day! I'm so glad that you are enjoying the same excitement that I am when it arrives on my doorstep! :-)
