Radical Skincare Hydrating Cleanser Review & Meet the Co-Founder, Rachel Edlich!

Press Samples (Affiliate links)

Radical Skincare ranks among the very best skincare lines that I have ever used, and I do not say this lightly. As I said in the Radical Skincare Press Release for the upcoming SpaceNK Event (on Saturday, December 14th from 2:00-6:00PM), Radical Skincare is one of those skincare lines that is just so spectacular that the more that you use it, the more likely you are to fall madly in love with it. I did.

When a skincare company sends me a complete skincare routine I stop using everything else and dedicate a 4-6 week period to using only their products. This method really allows me to understand the products, how they work, and whether they deliver on the claims made by the company. In the case of testing Radical Skincare, the hardest thing for me to give up during my initial trial period was the use of my beloved luxury face oils. However, the results from Radical Skincare were so, well, radical, that I quickly adjusted.
Proof positive that Radical Skincare had indeed made a radical difference in the quality of my skin was the fact that I was repeatedly told by scores of people that my skin looked absolutely amazing. The only difference was Radical Skincare, truly. Frankly, I have been so stressed out with a couple of fixed deadlines at work that have me routinely working 10-15 hour days--  that any line that can make my skin clear, luminous, taut, moisturized, and utterly glowing is nothing short of miraculous. That is precisely what happened.

Radical Skincare Hydrating Cleanser

According Radical Skincare,

This luxurious and creamy antioxidant-rich cleanser strikes the perfect balance between being clean and hydrated with a non-drying, non-irritating, paraben-free formula that works on all skin types.
Benefits:
  • Cleanse, tone and hydrate the skin at the same time
  • Increase skin hydration up to 30% in 2 weeks
  • Promote cell turnover and renewal
For best results: "Apply this hydrating cleanser to face and neck morning and night. Work into skin and remove with or without warm water. Pat dry. For accelerated anti-aging results, follow with one Age-Defying Exfoliating Pad at night."

My Experience: This delectable non-foaming cleanser is an absolute game-changer for me! Not only is it unbelievably gentle, but it is actually gentle enough to remove every trace of eye makeup while soothing, calming, and moisturizing the skin. After massaging it into the skin you can either wash it off or wipe it off, and what you are left with is clean, hydrated, and toned skin that looks and feels amazing. It leaves behind no uncomfortable residue, but it is so nourishing that your skin will feel as though you applied a serum. It really doesn't get better than this!
Trylacel Technology:

Trylacel™, our proprietary breakthrough technology, enables the maximum concentration of actives for maximum delivery to the skin, and for all skin types. Outperforms leading brands in Antioxidant potency* providing the best defense against free radicals.

Antioxidants are the best defense against free radical damage and aging. The strongest antioxidants are found in nature’s dark night shade fruits like resveratrol, coffee berry, acai, grapeseed, red wine extract, pomegranate, and cranberry to name a few. Multiple antioxidants are required to fight the numerous types of free radicals. Using one or two antioxidants is simply not enough.

When antioxidants are combined with reparative ingredients in a cream they break down and lose their power, rendering them ineffective to protect your skin from this free radical assault and therefore daily deterioration continues aging your skin. Until now.

Trylacel™ a radical breakthrough in suspension technology, keeps the antioxidant potency and performance in the cream to deliver maximum benefits and results quickly. By combining and encapsulating maximum levels of powerful antioxidants, clinically proven reparative and soothing agents in a bi-lipid membrane.

Among the Key Ingredients:
Green Tea: The outcome of the several experimental studies suggests that green tea posses anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic potential, which can be exploited against a variety of skin disorders.

Sodium PCA: Humectants are ingredients that hydrate and hold moisture in the skin. Sodium PCA is an incredible humectant that occurs naturally in the skin and is greatly responsible for the skin’s moisture-binding capacity. It is derived from 100% natural amino acids and is highly water absorbing. Due to its moisture-binding ability, this ingredient is used to increase the skin’s softness, as it helps maintain a healthy moisture balance.

Allantoin: A natural anti irritant, which also helps to soothe the skin. It also helps to counteract drying effect on the skin. Anti Inflammatory properties are also useful in allantoin as it helps calm the skin.

Almond Milk: A natural milk derived from almonds to help cleanse the skin without stripping the surface. It is used as a natural emulsifier and it also helps to remove excess oils and residue from the skin. Excellent for all sin types especially normal to dry. It is used in this formula as it soothing to the skin and reduces and irritations or reactions from typical surfactants or cleansers used in common cleanser formulas.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Isododecane, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Potassium Palmitoyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Niacinamide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Cetyl Alcohol, Squalane, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Pca, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Lecithin, Tocopherol, Limonene, Linalool

  1. Hey you!!! Radical is a great line; the exfoliating pads are fantastic. Your review on the cleanser has me curious and I want to try the mask... which means what I have tried are the serums and creams. I have to be honest (here it comes), the peptide serum left me pissy. Yes, pissy. Why? Because it tinged my very very pasty pale complexion orangey brown. This is, I suppose, the "glow" they mention in their brochure... a kind of natural tan look due to the berries in the product. I had hoped that my foundation would cover it up, but, alas, it simply made my face look like it was dirty. For this reason, I couldn't use it; a shame because it did a great job. I don't understand companies that do this (adding a glow); Sunday Riley does it too and I can't use those specific products of hers either.

Beyond that, her creams are lovely and though I can't be there in body for the event (I would LOVE to meet the founders), I will be there in spirit and via my wallet, lol (Thank Goodness for phone orders). Due want to say that their samples are VERY VERY generous in size!!

I'm curious to try the eye-cream as I'm not loving my current one : (

    1. Hi 3bDiva!!!!!!! So lovely to hear from you! I hope that life has been treating you well! I agree, their exfoliating pads are remarkable! I am REALLY loving this cleanser so much-- I really used to prefer foaming cleansers, but this one has really done wonders for my skin, and think that it is really worth trying. My skin is left so soft and hydrated-- yet thoroughly cleaned, and without any residue left behind. I am similarly impressed by the Peptide Infused Serum, the Eye Cream and the Anti-Aging Replenishing Extreme Moisture. That's interesting that you had that experience with the Peptide Serum-- that hasn't happened to me at all and I have been using it for more than 6 weeks. I wonder if you got a quirky bottle?

I wish that you could meet the Co-Founder on Saturday, but the GWP is definitely worth getting! Be sure to let them know that I sent you-- and they will take extra good care of you! I agree with you about their extreme generosity with respect to the size of their samples-- I don't think anybody makes samples that size anymore!!!

The eye cream is amazing-- I just posted my review this morning. It is my very favorite eye cream now. I am so prone to milia that I have a very hard time finding a great eye cream that nourishes and hydrates as well as addresses dark circles and the occasional puffiness-- all without producing even a hint of milia. This one does it all for me, and without having to use lots of other products to achieve my desired results. I am super happy! You might request a sample if you are not ready to take the plunge! :-)

  2. I have been traveling and though I keep up with your blog, haven't always had the opportunity to reply until now... because I'm back home finally, lol.

Not sure about the primer issue; many serums/oils have been doing that lately and it may simply be a hormonal/chemical reaction within my body. That said, I have read a few reviews where very pale skintones have experienced the same thing. It's a pain, that's for sure, especially when the product delivers.

My skin has been all over the place from using light-weight skincare one week to the heaviest product I own the next and then using hydration masks every night. Thank goodness for samples as I threw bags of different stuff in my luggage and wound up using so much to stay hydrated! My goal is to truly pare down and have just what works but boy.... easier said then done!! Using my samples (based on one of your blogs) and placing them in a box has helped as I see how many I can work through with skincare leading over makeup, lol.

Radical plays very well with other lines (which is wonderful), so I can use another serum (be it Revive or Sjal) with their moisturizer (the richer one)... LOVE it as a makeup base. And I will ask for an eye sample; need to be careful (as you know : ) ).

    1. Hi 3bDiva!

I'm so glad to hear that you are finally back home-- lots of travel can become so exhausting!

Do you mean that your oils and serums aren't getting along with your primers lately? If that is the case, my bet is that the primers might be heavily silicone-laden-- which might not be getting along with the more natural ingredients in your oils/serums.

I wonder if your skin has been reactive to the shift in temperature-- making it go a little wonky. Of course hormonal/chemical reactions could always be part of the problem as well. Paring down your stash is a great goal. It really is a hard task, but I have definitely been trying to use up things that I don't want/need to replace. THe problem is that the technology and ingredients keep getting better and better-- so there are always so many new things to try! Using samples is such a great way to find out what works and what doesn't-- and to hopefully save lots of the money in the process!

I agree with you that Radical plays well with other lines-- and now that I have finished testing it exclusively-- I have added my beloved face oils back in-- and they work so well with Radical! Their moisturizers are fantastic-- and the rich one is AMAZING! Definitely try to get a sample of their eye cream-- It is definitely my most reached for eye cream now! You know me and milia-- so this has been a great find for me!:-)

    2. Oops....NOT primer... PEPTIDE, lolol . Don't know WHERE my mind was, lol. I've noticed over the past year or so, that many serums are turning a darker shade on my face... no idea as to why. Any product that says "offers a glow" will turn me orangy/dirty looking no matter what products I use with it or over it. This is why I'm thinking it's a hormonal/body chemistry issue. For that reason, once I find a serum that doesn't do this, I stick with it. Sadly, some face creams are also starting to do this; it's frustrating. I would love to know if other women are dealing with this as skincare is so expensive and often, samples are difficult to come by.

    3. That's very strange-- so it's not limited to specific brands-- I wonder if something like your own pH balance has shifted or something like that. What happens if you cut the serums by mixing them in with your moisturizer. The other thought that comes to mind is whether the serums themselves have been subjected to fluctuations in temperature that may have rendered them less stabile. I wonder if it is a hormonal/body chemistry issue. I'm totally perplexed-- as I imagine you to be.

Yesterday at the Radical Skincare event- they gave me a facial-- and it was simply divine. Instead of the Peptide Serum they used the Youth Infusion Serum-- it was extraordinary-- I definitely want to try it now.

      Anyone else have similar experiences?

  3. Hi Helen

How do you compare this cleanser to Sponge and Sunday Riley? I am also finishing both bottle I have and (of course) am not tempted to try this.

Also, how do you compare these products to The Organic Phamarcy?

    Thanks!!
    Veronica

    1. Hi Veronica! I find that it cleanses just as well as both of them. Like the Sponge cleanser, your face is left hydrated, and it also leaves your skin feeling as though you have applied a luscious serum. Unlike those two, however, it does not foam. I am utterly smitten with the Radical Skincare line, and the cleanser is really quite lovely! Their eye cream is AMAZING!!!!!!

They are very different from The Organic Pharmacy-- it feels like an apples to oranges combination for me. The Organic Pharmacy has a lovely selection of luxury oil serums at the core of their skincare system, whereas Radical Skincare does not. I love and use both lines, but have now rotated all of the Radical Skincare products that I have into my daily ritual. :-)
