During the last VIB sale at Sephora, I was struggling to find something new to try that would set my heart ablaze. I generally gravitate toward new-to-me lip products first, and therefore I ended my long flirtation with Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipsticks by finally picking up two of them. Given the season and my nearly irrational penchant for pinky nude lipsticks, I found that Rose Desire (11) and Rose Caprice (25) were perfect choices. After swatching a few of the colors and running out into the natural light these two proved to be just what I was looking for.
Left to Right: Rose Desire (11) Rose Caprice (25)
According to Sephora, Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick is:
An exceptionally smooth, long-wearing lipstick. This lipstick adds sexy, light-reflective color to the lips as it nourishes and hydrates with powerful antioxidants.
Rouge Interdit is more than a lipstick: it's a fashion accessory with a designer signature. The black and silver tube is an objet d'art adorned with a ribbon at one end that unlocks this beautiful piece. Wear anytime, in any circumstance. When applied, it immediately soothes and softens. Its fine, spreadable texture melts over the lips.
Rose Desire (11)- is described as a baby pink, but I would say that it is a pale blue-based pink to be more specific.
Rose Caprice (25) - is described as a pale pink, but I would classify it as more of a sheer-leaning pinky nude.
I find the formula to be very smooth and very comfortable to wear. I also find the formula quite hydrating. The texture of these two shades is creamy and lightweight, and both feel a bit like balm/lipstick hybrids. They both impart a lovely sheen that appears to twinkle in the light. While both can offer
some buildable coverage, Rose Caprice remains by far the more sheer of the two. I find that the wear-time isn't terribly long because of the balm like texture, but that is more true of Rose Caprice than of Rose Desire. I also have a tendency to periodically rub my lips together to experience the tactile effects of particularly comfortable lip products, and this habit radically diminishes their wear-time. That said, neither are likely to survive a meal, particularly one that includes oil and vinegar salad dressing. Since I only chose two of the lighter shades, I think that it is instructive to read a review of one of the more pigmented shades, and
The Non-Blonde wrote a fantastic review of Pink Paradise (10) that is a definite must-read.
There is a light nondescript fragrance that dissolves soon after application, therefore nothing detectable lingers for very long.

Overall assessment: I'm very happy with the Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick formula, and think that I might eventually end up with a few more colors. These little pretties are definitely worth taking a look at!
