FAVORITE BRONZERS: HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BRONZERS & CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILMSTAR BRONZE & BLUSH GLOW

The Makeup Wars! Team is featuring our favorite sunless tanners and bronzers, and while I don't use self-tanners and bronzers for the body, there are two brands that I love so much that I actually really enjoy using their powder bronzers for the face. The first is HOURGLASS and the other is Charlotte Tilbury. Both are cruelty-free luxury brands that boast stupendous ultra finely milled textures, and they are a tremendous pleasure to use.
When HOURGLASS, which is 100% Cruelty-Free, launched the HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Bronzers– I suspected that I would love them, despite the fact that I have never been that interested in bronzers.

In fact, HOURGLASS Ambient® Lighting Bronzers are just truly spectacular! These lightweight ultra-finely milled bronzers are fused with the gorgeous illuminating effects that define the HOURGLASS cult-classic Ambient Lighting Powders, and the end result is spectacularly luminous bronzers that are, in my opinion, peerless.

They offer buildable coverage coupled with a natural glow that offers a radiant finish that is nothing short of perfection. Unlike traditional bronzers, which are often flat and have a tendency to oxidize, and turn orange on my skin, these beautiful powder bronzers utilize, "Photoluminescent Technology for seamless blending and color transitions."

These gorgeous in the pan, and on the skin, bronzers are handmade using an, "advanced miscelare technique" which mixes the powders to create the perfect balance of pigment and powder, and that is precisely why each one is unique.

Diffused Bronze Light is described as a, "cool bronze shade fused with Diffused Light, a soft, pale yellow powder, to mimic a ray of warm sunlight" that is ideal for light to medium complexions. It boasts the perfect amount of luminosity without being glittery. It is ultra-finely milled, and it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits pigment evenly. It neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasizes pores. It is utterly gorgeous, and is, without question, my current favorite bronzer. It should be noted that it remains true to color, it never oxidizes, and it wears all day without fading.

Nude Bronze Light is described as a, "neutral bronze shade fused with Nude Light, a soft, translucent powder, to mimic a subtle warmth" that is ideal for light to medium complexions. It is finely milled, albeit a bit more stiff and slightly less luminous than Diffused Bronze Light, and it glides across the skin effortlessly and deposits pigment evenly. Like Diffused Bronze Light, it neither settles into fine lines, nor does it emphasize pores. It, too, remains true to color, it doesn't oxidize, and it lasts all day long without fading.
According to HOURGLASS,

Ambient® Lighting Bronzer fuses the illuminating effects of Ambient® Lighting Powder with bronze pigments to add depth and dimension for a natural, sun-kissed glow. The sheer, airy formula sweeps on softly for a healthy-looking, radiant finish.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
• The airy, lightweight bronzers fuse the illuminating effects of Ambient® Lighting Powder with bronze pigments to deliver buildable color and a radiant finish.
• While traditional bronzer tends to be flat, Ambient® Lighting Bronzer uses Photoluminescent Technology for seamless blending and color transitions.
• The hand-made powders are formulated using an advanced miscelare technique - which means "to mix" in Italian - creating the perfect balance of pigment and powder, and no two look alike.
• Ambient® Lighting Bronzer can be used alone for subtle warmth and contouring or paired with Ambient® Lighting Powder to create depth and dimension.

I am utterly smitten with my recent purchases of Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love Glow and Love is the Drug (Reviewed HERE), and therefore I just had to purchase the much raved about Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium. I have cool-toned skin, and therefore I avoid orange-hued bronzers, and those with the tendency to oxidize, and therefore I felt reasonably certain that this one would work for my skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium two ultra-finely milled powders that feel silky-smooth, and creamy, to the touch. Both glide across the skin effortlessly, deposit color evenly, and they neither emphasize pores, nor do they settle into fine lines.

The neutral, and very flattering, bronzer is a skin-flattering light tan shade that is punctuated by luminous golden pearl that gives the complexion an ethereal glow. It offers sheer to buildable coverage, and can be used as a bronzer and a contour shade. I am pleased to say that it remains true-to-color, and never oxidized on my skin.

The blush, which is a very flattering neutral soft pink, has the perfect amount of golden pearl for a glowing, lit-from within, flush that is so beautiful on the skin. The color is a fairly close match for Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love is the Drug, and therefore if you are trying to select one or the other, then Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow Light to Medium should be your choice if you want a bronzer too, otherwise save yourself some money and purchase Love is the Drug.

The palette, which includes its own brush, is the perfect size for travel, and the elegant Deco-inspired palette is pretty enough to leave out on your vanity. The small brush, which appears to have synthetic bristles, has a short handle and a full size head, and works perfectly with the palette.
According to Charlotte Tilbury,

Darlings, my Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow combines the iconic sculpt shade to contour your features for a fabulous red carpet ready framework and a soft pink blush with finely crushed pearls for a limitless glow. The Mini Artistry Blush Brush comes with this bronzer & blusher palette to make application a breeze.

Features:
• Create sculpted killer cheekbones with a subtle radiant blush to enliven your complexion.
•The bronzer is a blend of super flattering pearls and pigments to help naturally contour your face, and mimic that all over sun-kissed skin.
Directions: To use, start by applying the Sculpt color to the areas you want to sculpt and define: the hollows of your cheeks, temples, jawline, sides & tip of your nose. To apply the blusher, dip the Mini Artistry Blush Brush in the centre of the blush shade and tap off the excess. Apply to the apples of your cheeks to make them pop and glow. Blend the colors seamlessly together, using circular motions with your brush.

Charlotte’s Tip: Use this bronzer & blusher palette with the Wonderglow face primer to illuminate your complexion for a true red carpet look.

  1. I have a small pan of the Hourglass bronzer in my face palette from a few years ago and I like it, but I'm planning to buy the Diffused Bronze Light, when my budget allows. I've been drooling over the Charlotte Tilbury for a long time.
