Vichy Skincare Picks for Healthy, Glowing Summer Skin

Glowing, healthy skin is something that most people with a penchant for skincare products seek, and good quality peels and masks certainly go a long way to achieving this goal. My most recent Vichy trio does an exemplary job exfoliating, lifting impurities and restoring moisture. In fact, I have been receiving extraordinary results when using the three in tandem. That said, they do not need to be used together to see results, but the results are quite impactful when they are used together for a mini at-home spa experience.

About Vichy,

In 1931, Dr. Haller, a medical director at the thermal treatment center in Vichy, France, discovered the therapeutic virtues of Vichy Thermal Spa Water on skin. Originating more than 2000 years ago in the heart of Auvergne’s volcanoes, this extraordinary water, rich in 15 beneficial minerals and antioxidants, was found to improve skin quality, soothe sensitivity and accelerate the healing of skin wounds.

Convinced that skin health is the true source of beauty, Dr. Haller pioneered the first line of dermocosmetics powered by this mineral-rich water. Today, this very water, known as Vichy Thermal Spa Water, is still sourced from the same location in France, and is at the core of all Vichy skincare formulations.
Vichy Masque Peel Double Glow ($20.00 for 75 ml from Vichy, UltaAmazonDermstore, Walgreens and Escentual): This double-peel mask is formulated with a combination of volcanic rocks to exfoliate, AHA Fruit Acids to peel and dissolve dead skin cells and Vitamin CG to brighten and even skin tone. Simply apply the peel to your face, avoiding your eye area, and leave it on the skin undisturbed for about 5 minutes. Gently massage in a circular motion to dislodge and exfoliate any remaining dead skin cells, and rinse thoroughly. Skin is left soft, smooth, brightened and luminous. This mask does contain fragrance, which I would describe as a pleasant fruity floral, but I do not find it overpowering, and it does thoroughly disappear when you rinse it off.

According to Vichy,

Vichy's first face mask with volcanic rocks and AHA fruit acids to gently peel off dead cells through a double-peel action for refined skin texture and luminous skin.

Vichy's Double Glow Peel Mask is formulated to brighten dull skin through a double-peel action. First, the chemical action of AHA [fruit acids] helps remove dead cells. Then, the mechanical action of volcanic rock crushed into ultra-fine powder gently exfoliates skin. Combined vitamin CG to help illuminate skin tone and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water to help strengthen the skin's moisture barrier function and protect against aggressors. Paraben-free.
Directions: Apply peel mask on face, avoiding the eye area. Leave it set for 5 minutes for the chemical action of AHA. After 5 minutes, gently massage with circular movements to exfoliate.
Rinse off with water. Use one to two times a week.

Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol denat.,  Glycerin,  Dimethicone, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethanesulfonic Acid, Ci 14700,  Ci 19140, Carbomer, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit extract,  Saccharum Officinarum Extract, Pumice, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Mannose, Ascorbylglucoside, Disodium Edta, Caprylylglycol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Fruitwater, Citrus Limon Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum Extract, Xanthan Gum, Parfum. Code F.I.L. : C185392/1.
Vichy Masque Argile Pore Purifying Clay Mask ($20.00 for 75 ml from Vichy, AmazonDermstore, SkinCare RX, Walgreens and Escentual): Formulated for all types of skin, this clay mask unclogs pores, refines the appearance of pores, lifts impurities and eliminates excess oil and sebum. Furthermore, unlike many clay masks that dry out the skin and leave it taut, this one contains Aloe Vera that actually hydrates the skin. However, Vichy recommends only leaving this mask on for 5 minutes, and not allowing it fully dry because it will dry out the skin when left on too long. While this mask does contain fragrance, I would not characterize it as fragrant.

According to Vichy,

Vichy's first mineral face mask combining two ultra-fine white clays with Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water to help eliminate excess sebum and impurities for purified pores and softer skin.

This clay mask is rich in two white clays [Kaolin, Bentonite] that act like a ‘magnet’ to draw out excess sebum and impurities from the skin. Combined with Aloe Vera extracts to hydrate and sooth skin and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water to help strengthen the skin's moisture barrier function and protect against aggressors. Paraben-free.
Directions: Apply face mask on skin, wait for 5 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
Use one to two times a week. Application tip: Never let your clay mask fully dry. When it does, the skin underneath is dried out as well. Five minutes is all the Vichy Pore Purifying Mask needs to be efficient.

Ingredients: Aqua, Kaolin, Argilla, Propanediol, Glycer I N, Capryl I C / C Apri Ctriglyceride, Ci 77891, Cetearylalcohol, Zea Mays Starch, C I 77499, C I 77492, C I 77491, Allantoin, Ceteareth-20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Lecithin, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Parfum. Code F.I.L. : C182660/1.
NEW Vichy Idéalia Energizing Cream ($33.00 for 1.69 oz./50 ml. from Vichy, Dermstore and Amazon): Vichy’s Energizing Cream is formulated to deeply hydrate, eradicate dull skin, smooth fine lines, refine the appearance of pores, and to help even skin tone. The soothing gel-cream formula is lightweight, fast absorbing and velvety to the touch. It leaves skin beautifully quenched and with an unmistakable ethereal glow. It is formulated primarily for normal, combination and sensitive skin types. The fragrance is a light and pleasant fruity floral that does dissipate a few minutes after it is absorbed into the skin.

According to Vichy,

Dullness, Uneven Skin Tone Vichy’s new glow energizing cream with antioxidant extract of fermented Black Tea, Adenosine, and antioxidant Blueberry Polyphenols infuse skin with a healthy, new glow. This energizing cream helps even skin tone, refine pores, and smooth fine lines plus deliver 24-hour hydration. Enriched with Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water powered by 15 essential minerals to help strengthen the skin's moisture barrier function and protect skin against aggressors like stress and pollution.

Directions: Apply evenly every morning on face and neck. Smooth on gently until thoroughly absorbed.

Ingredients: Aqua / Water Glycerin Dimethicone Alcohol Denat. Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea Ferment Myreth-3 Myristate Isopropyl Palmitate Pentylene Glycol Cetyl Alcohol Propylene Glycol Octyldodecanol Synthetic Wax Tin Oxide Peg-100 Stearate Ci 17200 / Red 33 Ci 15985 / Yellow 6 Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide Stearyl Alcohol Mica Potassium Sorbate Carbomer Sorbitol Glyceryl Stearate Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer Dimethicone Crosspolymer Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer Silica Sodium Hydroxide Myristyl Alcohol Sodium Citrate Phenoxyethanol Adenosine Tocopherol Disodium Edta Caprylyl Glycol Capryloyl Salicylic Acid Hydroxyethylcellulose Citric Acid Biotin Parfum / Fragrance.
Overall Assessment: A wonderfully effective glowing skincare trio that is worthy of your attention if you seek luminous skin.

  3. I've been using clay masks lately but leave them on until they dry. I guess that will change as of tomorrow. The prices on these Vichy items are great.

    1. I usually let clay masks dry down to the point of cracking and becoming harder to remove, and it wasn't until Vichy made the point not to that I ever even thought about doing it that way instead! Vichy really makes such fantastic products!
