Serums can address a plethora of skincare concerns, and targeted serums, that are developed to address specific skincare conditions, are among the new breed of products to help bring skin into a state of equilibrium. Furthermore, they allow for the customizing of individual skincare rituals–  based upon the needs of the skin at any given time. It is with this in mind that I wanted to introduce you two Osmosis serums that can either be used on the whole face, or to spot treat problematic areas that require added care. Osmosis Calm is an effective serum that soothes and calms down sensitive, irritated skin, while Osmosis Clarify targets acne and excessive oil production.
Osmosis Calm Level 2 Vitamin A Serum ($78.00 for 1 oz. from Osmosis Skincare and Skincare By Alana): This is a lightweight and fast absorbing Vitamin A based serum that calms down irritated, red and inflamed skin while offering it hydration and protection from UV rays. I have used it post-peel and after serious exfoliation, and I immediately noted that my skin felt soothe, comforted and calmed. I also note that my skin has a pronounced clarity and luminosity when I use this serum. Since my skin  can be sensitive and reactive, this is a nice serum to have on hand when something irritates my skin. More often than not, however, I use this after I have had a skin peel or serious exfoliation.

According to Osmosis Skincare,

Calm is designed for moderately-sensitive skin types who desire a dramatic restoration of the skin rejuvenation process. The Osmosis vitamin A serums are the most powerful age-reversing serums available. It encourages the skin to calm inflammation, restore the protective barrier, increase skin nutrients and immune repair, rebuild the thin dermis, normalize oil, hydrate, firm and protect skin from UV rays.

Skin Type: Sensitive.

Directions: Shake lightly and apply 1-2 pumps morning and evening.

Ingredients: Aqua (Harmonized Water), Glycerin, Phosphatidylcholine, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Asiaticoside, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Niacinamide, Dimethyl Sulfone, Lactic Acid (L), Panthenol (D), Pyridoxine HCl, Fulvic Acid, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Bark Extract, Retinal (.05% Retinaldehyde), Hydroxyproline (L), Beta-Glucan (D), Rubus Chamaemorus (Cloud Berry) Seed Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora (Camphor) Bark Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Cyclodextrin, Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol. Gluten-Free | Vegan.
Osmosis Clarify Vitamin A Blemish Serum ($60.00 for 100 ml./ 1 oz. from Osmosis Skincare and Skincare By Alana): I should preface this by stating that I neither have acne, nor excessively oily skin. My skin is normal/combination, and I only get occasional pimples or breakouts. When I do get pimples, the cause tends to be of the monthly hormonal variety, or breakouts brought on by a reaction to skincare products. The former doesn't happen every month, and neither does the latter, but the latter is a byproduct of testing so many different skincare products. When I do get a pimple I always spot treat, rather than slathering treatment products all over the surrounding area, and I always seek gentle products that will not dry out the impacted area or its surrounding tissue. Osmotics Clarify neither dries out my skin, nor does it cause skin to flake. Instead, this gentle serum– which is absorbed into the skin rather than drying on the surface– heals the pimple and reduces redness and inflammation. Pimples heal at a remarkable rate of speed without further traumatizing or drying the skin.

According to Osmosis Skincare,

This Osmosis blemish serum clears blemishes, normalizes oil production, shrinks pores, increases skin's immune support, hydrates, calms inflammation, protects skin from UV rays, restores the epidermal barrier, and restores dermal thickness.

Skin Type: Blemished and oily skin.

Directions: Shake lightly and spot-treat acne lesions daily for 4-8 weeks; then add 1-2 pumps to daily regimen morning and evening.

Ingredients: Aqua (Harmonized Water), Niacinamide, Phosphatidylcholine, Glycerin, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Mandelic Acid (L), Lactic Acid (L), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Leaf Extract, Artemisia Umbelliformis Extract, Hyssopus Officinalis Extract, Retinal (.05% Retinaldehyde), Citrus Paradisi (White Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Rubus Chamaemorus (Cloud Berry) Seed Oil, Beta-Glucan (D), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Cyclodextrin, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol.

Overall Assessment: If you have acne prone skin or sensitive skin, then Osmosis Skincare Calm and Clarify Vitamin A Serums are worthy of your consideration.

  1. I mostly use Osmosis for all of my skincare. Funny though, I don't have either of these products. I think they'd both be beneficial to my skin so I'll ask about them at my next facial appointment.

  7. I have heard really great things about Osmosis. I think I tried one product a year ago, but I can't remember for the life of me. This sounds nice though. I don't suffer from many breakouts but I'm sure this would be great for maintenance for sure.
