TATCHA SUNRISE: A PLUM BLOSSOM Limited Edition 23-Karat Gold Illuminated Lipstick | Overview & Teaser

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

TATCHA SUNRISE: A PLUM BLOSSOM 23-Karat Gold Illuminated Lipstick is so unbelievably gorgeous that I actually gasped as I opened the box in which it was housed. It boasts a level of luxury that was, until now, unseen. The lipstick bullet, itself, is weighty and ultra-luxe with an attention to detail that exceeds all expectations. The lipstick is a gorgeous cool plummy pink that is accentuated by its beautifully faceted shape. This precious gem, that is infused with 23-karat gold, is more like a fine piece of jewelry than a mere tube of lipstick. If ever there was a lipstick to covet, it is this one. My full review is forthcoming, but if there is one lipstick to buy this year, it is this beauty. The only thing that I would change about it is its Limited Edition status.

According to TATCHA,

This lipstick brings a youthful, cool plum pink blush to lips with a fine hint of 23-karat gold for a creamy, lustrous finish to flatter any complexion, day or night.

Inspired by the iconic pink Japanese Plum Blossom peeking through a snowy Kyoto morning wrapped in golden light. Plum fruit and silk extracts richly hydrate lips.

  1. Soooooooo gorgeous! I'm jealous! I had planned to go to Barney's when I was in Boston on Wednesday just to look at it, but I would have missed my plane. So happy to see you have it :) I think it's the perfect shade!

  2. I love this lipstick so much. The moment they released it I had to jump on it. I love how flattering it is, no matter what your skin tone is. I've already got their Kyoto Red, and I think they raised the bar with this one. It lasted forever, looked amazing, and my lips felt so great.

  3. Hmm.... I have not yet stepped over the edge into this price-point for lipstick. But I do tend to like plum tones. So, is it moisturizing as well? What is 'so great' about it that it warrants that price? (And, yes, I am thinking Barneys event.....)

    1. Well, it does take a a paradigm shift to get to the $50.00+ lipstick. I remember, not too many years ago, when I thought that was absolutely insane. Fast forward, and I have a bunch of Tom Ford, By Terry and Guerlain Lipsticks, and now this GORGEOUS TATCHA Plum Blossom!

It is a truly lovely plummy pink with a gorgeous glossy shine. The texture is exquisite and silky smooth and it feels amazing on the lips. It is moisturizing, and it leaves lips soft and smooth. I know that a $55.00 lipstick is no casual purchase, but with the Barneys New York LOVE YOURSELF Event right around the corner....

  6. It's stunning from the shape to the packaging. But the price is a stunner too. But I know once you find something this fabulous, it's worth the price.

    1. Everything about it is absolutely stunning! Yes, it's definitely got the luxury price tag to match, but then again it is only a couple of dollars higher than TOM FORD Lip Colors. This is definitely worth it, no question!

  9. I've raved about this jewel of a lipstick on a number of other blogs and so I'll try not to repeat myself. Although I have some drop dead gorgeous lipsticks in incredible formulas (Tom Ford, Rouge G, Clé de Peau, etc.), I find myself continuously reaching for Sunrise: A Plum Blossom. It is quite simply, the lipstick of the season. Even the name is captivating and is a perfect indicator as to what to expect from this luminous shade. And, of course, because it is Tatcha, the lipstick is loaded with skin care ingredients that leave the lips feeling silky smooth. Tatcha took a long time to introduce their first lipstick, but all their care paid off when Kyoto Red became an instant cult classic. Now we have Sunrise: A Plum Blossom and it has met with resounding success. A year is a long time to wait between lipsticks releases, but if the reward is one perfect lipstick, then it is worth it. As for the price, I broke that $50 barrier a long time ago and have never looked back! LOL

    1. Hi Eileen! I feel the same way! While I love my TOM FORD, Rouge G and By Terry Lipsticks, this TATCHA gem is the current lipstick love of my life! Everything about it from the impressive jewel-like case to the extraordinary formula, and the luscious color makes this a true masterpiece! I know, I broke that $50.00 barrier a while ago, and have never looked back either! I really wish that TATCHA would make this a permanent part of their gorgeously edited collection! This lipstick is absolutely THE lipstick to buy this year! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :-)

  10. It's sold out at Barney's and on the Tatcha website. It will let you sign up to be notified of the Kyoto Red but not the Plum Blossom. Do you know if they'll have it available again? I saw people are selling it for $99/each on Ebay. Hate that. :-(

    1. Hi Kimberly, I saw it on the Barneys website this morning– so it must have sold out today online. I saw that it was sold out on the TATCHA website. I was told that the Madison Ave. store is expecting some more, and someone told me that they had some at the Las Vegas location. I haven't heard about whether there are any left in Beverly Hills, or not, but I think that you can still get your hands on one. I definitely wouldn't buy it from eBay because it's hard to know if it is legit for one, and it's just so terrible to hoard and then price gouge like that! I hate it too! :-( I will let you know if I learn anything. I would definitely call a few of the stores to try and track one down, though. Keep me posted!
