S'well Water Bottle Review

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

One cannot deny the importance of drinking lots of water, and, in fact, I listed it among the Top 20 Beauty Resolutions to Live By in 2016. However, it is likely one of the many resolutions that fall by the wayside as the year gets underway. I, for one, am not a big fan of using plastic water bottles, but all of the metal water bottles that I have don't keep my water cold all day long. Furthermore, they have a tendency to create condensation which is counterproductive when I am carrying water in my work bag filled with papers and books. I leave early in the morning, spend all day on campus, and then drive home and sit in rush hour traffic, and my water usually ends up lukewarm early in the day.

This all changed when my sister introduced me to S'well Water Bottles, and it immediately became abundantly clear that this gorgeous water bottle was one of the smartest investments, and most pragmatic choices that I have made this year!
S'well Water Bottles are ingeniously made from BPA-free, double-walled stainless steel that is so well insulated that it keeps liquids cold for 24 hours, and hot for 12 hours. They are so well insulated that no matter how cold the liquid inside, there is absolutely no condensation outside. I purchased the 25 oz. size so that I wouldn't have to refill my bottle as frequently, but you might prefer the 17 oz. size because it a bit smaller to tote around. However, I definitely think that the 9 oz. is a little too small for the purposes of staying hydrated throughout the day.

According to S'well,

In 2010, S'well was launched with a mission to rid the world of plastic bottles. With your continued support, we are doing just that! Every day, walking around the city I love, I see New Yorkers carrying the one thing S'well dreads the most — the plastic bottle. In the US alone, an estimated 50 billion plastic bottles are dumped in landfill sites each year, and over 200 billion globally.

When developing and designing the S'well bottle, we aimed to create a beautifully crafted bottle that keeps drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12, while also giving back to those in need. At S'well, we understand it's important to be part of the solution, which is why we're proud to partner with our many charity partners: we are working towards bettering our environment and communities around the world, one S'well bottle at a time.
Features:
  • Bottle may be used as a water bottle or to hold other beverages.
  • Made of 18/8 double-walled stainless steel.
  • Nontoxic, non-leaching, and BPA free.
  • Hand-painted.
  • Mouth wide enough for ice cubes and drip-free sipping.
  • Vacuum sealed; keeps drinks cold for 24 hours, hot for 12.
  • Fits standard-size cup holder.
  • Hand wash only. Not dishwasher safe.
They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, and are available in 3 sizes (25 oz, 17 oz. and 9 oz.). While they are by no means the least expensive water bottles on the market, I assure that they will last a very very long time, and are worth every penny.

Overall Assessment: This is the smartest purchase that I have made in a long time, and it definitely has encouraged me to drink a lot more water! If you are looking for a new water bottle that keeps liquids hot or cold for an unprecedented period of time, is user-friendly, doesn't create condensation on the outside of the bottle, and comes in a gorgeous array of colors and patterns– then look no further than S'well!

$25.00-$45.00 each from S'well, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Birchbox, Shopbop, Athleta Gap, Anthropologie and The Container Store (Affiliate Links).

  1. These bottles sound terrific. I need something to help make me drink more water every day. But I'm not usually on the go all day like you are. I wonder if that adorable heart-adorned bottle would somehow make the water more palatable or enticing even?

    1. I have lots of metal water bottles that I won't use again because the S'well bottles are so much better. I definitely find that having this makes me drink water more frequently. At work I leave it on my lectern while I am lecturing and sip as needed. I carry it around in my bag and drink much more frequently, and have it any in my car when I am commuting. You might find the largest size larger than you need because you aren't away as long, but I definitely see improved water consumption since purchasing it. The adorable heart-adorned bottle, and I know your penchant for heart tchtotchkes, will give you so much pleasure to look at that you will have a natural tendency to drink more.

    1. No question that it is a pricey bottle, but the 17 oz. and 9 oz. bottles are less expensive. I also saw that they had a sale section on their website that might be worth keeping an eye on.

  7. You have amazing taste- this is the same Swell I was thinking of getting. I always have a bottle of some sort but decided to spend a bit more on one of these because of the double walls. So glad to hear it's worth it.

    1. Well, the feeling is mutual! Initially I winced at the thought of spending this much on a water bottle, but it has proven to be well-worth it. Plus, when you think of the money saved on buying bottles of water– then it becomes a much easier purchase. Its ability to keep liquids cool or hot for such a great length of time without any external condensation makes this bottle a smart purchase for me. I think that you will absolutely love it, should you decide to get one!

  11. I can't decide between the 17oz and the 25oz. Suggestions?

    1. Hi Butterfly Willow, Thanks for stopping by! Well, I have the 25 oz. size, and most of the time it is perfect since it is big enough that I don't have to refill it too often. However, when my work bag is quite full it can be a bit too big, and it makes my very full bag considerably heavier. On those days I carry my smaller bkr Water Bottle:

If space and weight are never an issue for you, then you might want the larger one, but if you often carry a lot in your bag– then the 17 oz. will probably be more practical for you. Keep me posted!
