TOM FORD Beauty Eye and Cheek Shadow in Pink Ombre | Review and Swatches

Purchased (Affiliate Links)

TOM FORD Eye and Cheek Shadows (Limited Edition) are ultra-finely milled powders that glide across the skin effortlessly, and deposit color evenly. When used on the eyes, the Ombré effect is easily achieved by selecting the lighter and darker shades to highlight and contour with ease. Use the darker shade in the outer V or in the crease, and the lighter shade as a wash of color on the lid. For more drama, they can be blended for added drama. When used as a blush, simply sweep your brush across the pan allowing it to linger on the lighter or darker shades depending on your desired effect.

TOM FORD Eye and Cheek Shadow in Pink Ombré is a stunning cool-toned blue-based pink that modulates from light to mid-tone due to its strikingly beautiful ombré effect. It is a finely milled powder glides across the skin effortlessly and evenly, and it neither settles into pores, nor does it emphasize any skin imperfections. I have been wearing Pink Ombré on my cheeks since purchasing it because it is the perfect blue-based cool-toned pink blush.

As a girl with a penchant for pink blushes, I count this among my favorites, and it's up against some very tough competition– to be sure. If you love pink blush, then this is definitely at the top of my list of blushes to consider adding to your collection. If you are obsessed with Tom Ford Beauty and pink blushes, then this is an absolute must-have. It is a great in-between shade when compared to Tom Ford Cheek Color in Frantic Pink (reviewed here), which is warmer and peachier, and Tom Ford Cheek Color in Wicked (reviewed here), which is a darker pink. Pink Ombré is also cooler than the results of blending Frantic Pink and Wicked, as I did in this feature.
According to TOM FORD Beauty,

Tom Ford Eye and Cheek Shadow is a multipurpose ombré powder that offers a visionary new way to add color the the face. The silky powder infused with light-catching pearls creates depth and dimension to the eyes and sculpts cheeks with a radiant, blended ombré effect. Includes specially designed brush applicator.
In his Fall 2015 Color Collection, Tom Ford presents a new, modern way to wear monochromatic color by layering one shade - plum, peach, pink, or bronze - for an elegant and sculpted look. First, brows are shaped with two highly-pigmented, easily blendable shades in the Brow Sculpting Kit. Multipurpose Eye and Cheek Shadow creates dimension and depth around the eyes and sculpts the cheeks, while corresponding shades of Lip Color and Ultra Shine Lip Gloss are layered to enhance the monochrome effect. The result is a stunning new expression of the sensuous and symmetrical Tom Ford face.
Of the four shades, Pink Ombré, Plum Ombré and Peach Ombré boast the best pigmentation. Bronze Ombré, while gorgeous, is quite sheer.
Left to Right: TOM FORD Eye and Cheek Shadow in Pink Ombré,  Plum Ombré, Bronze Ombré and Peach Ombré.

  1. I must say your review really surprised me. It's the first one I've read where the reviewer really liked the ombré eye/cheek product. But, then again, we all know that makeup is such a subjective experience.

When I went to the counter, I was actually quite disappointed in these. I adore TF eyeshadows--powders and creams--and I love the luminous glow of the blushers, but these new ones just didn't do it for me. It's not that they're horrible, it's just that they don't measure up to what I've come to expect from TF especially at his price points. If someone has never tried TF before, I'd say avoid these like the plague and try one of his eyeshadow quads or regular blushers instead.

    1. Hi Eileen, I am not in the least bit disappointed with Pink Ombré, and I knew that I was going to get it from the moment that I saw it in person, but I wasn't in the least bit interested in buying any of the other shades since they are either too warm or too muted for me. It is, what I consider, an important shade that is missing from the TF Cheek Colors from the permanent line. There aren't many blue-based clean colors in the permanent range– other than Wicked– so for me, Pink Ombré was a must-have. I love, and wear, Frantic Pink, but it is decidedly peachy and warm-leaning, and I love, and wear, Wicked, but Pink Ombré is a touch cooler.

It's definitely a different formula than the regular– especially since these were formulated to create a monochromatic look for eyes and cheeks, but I wouldn't wear a pink of this hue on my eyes. I do think, however, that people who seek cool, clear blue-based pinks that this is a great choice from TF.

  2. Oh, I missed the ombre effect at first, but then I noticed your wonderful photo that really shows it off. Altho subtle, it is definitely there. So....what lovely pinks that you can use altogether or choose from in the pan!

    1. They are quite lovely! Bronze Ombré, however, is VERY sheer and dupable. Plum Ombré is very lovely on the eyes, and would be stunning on you!

  8. Pink Ombre is the one I'm most attracted to also. The Non-Blonde reviewed these and ripped them apart but her skin is a much darker tone.

    1. Before I saw them in person I thought that I might buy more than one, but as soon as I swatched them I knew that Pink Ombré was the only one that I would wear (or that would look good with my skin tone). It didn't see Gaia's review, but I did see that Temptalia gave this one and Plum Ombré an F. I haven't tested the other three shades, but I definitely don't feel the way that she does, otherwise I wouldn't have purchased this one. I will say, however, that the Bronze one is way too sheer for my personal liking (thought the color itself is pretty).

  10. Girl, I am setting up a block so I can't see all your beautiful posts hehe. This was already on my want list!

  11. I am surprised with your review. I tested these myself and while they look gorgeous in the pan they are so hard to apply! I could not get any product you really have to rub hard and actually scrape off to get any product. I love Tom Ford but these are the most disappointing product ever! It is nothing like his blushes. Please ladies don't waste your money on this. This is why I always read Temptalia as she tells it like it is. She rated this product an F the lowest rating she gives.

    1. I swatched all of them in-store, but was very pleased with the Pink Ombre and bought it immediately. I neither found Pink Ombre difficult to use, nor did I have to scrape it to get any to apply– otherwise I wouldn't have been willing to spend $65.00 on it. I wasn't tempted by any of the other colors because they weren't particularly flattering for my complexion. I only have experience actually using Pink Ombre on my face, but I will say that the Bronze one is far too sheer to bother with– particularly at that price point.

I saw Temptalia's review of this shade, and if I agreed with her opinion I wouldn't have purchased Pink Ombre. I am being no less honest in my opinion than Christine was in hers, but I didn't have the same experience with it that she did. :-)

  12. You've renewed my excitement for these! I bought ALL of them without any reviews even up yet and then I saw Christine gave them ALL F's!!! Since I've seen that I haven't even had the desire to open them up. They're still sitting in boxes, untouched, by my lightbox to photo. Your review has definitely got me interested again so I'll get at them ASAP!

    1. I only saw her reviews for the Pink and Plum Ombrés, and her experience has not been mine. I only own the pink one, and am very happy with it. I only swatched the other three–so I can't comment on them beyond my initial experience of playing with them at the counter, but I definitely found the bronze to be too light and sheer for my liking. Other than liking the shade, I wasn't all that impressed by it because it just didn't pack much of a punch for the price point. I don't, and won't use mine on my eyes, but that's just because I wouldn't wear this type of pink shade on my eyes. That said, I think that it's important to remember that these were created as eye and cheek shadows, and therefore aren't going to be the same type of formula as the core line of Tom Ford blushes. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts about them!

  13. Such a pretty pink. But really, how can you go wrong with a bit of pink?
