Beautybox 5 August 2015 | Unveiling and Review

Press Sample (Affiliate Links)

The August BB5 box is truly one of the very best that I have seen. The lip gloss and eyeshadow palette pairs perfectly with the liquid eyeliner, and who doesn't need another great nail file! Add to that a deep conditioner for your hair and a nice anti-aging moisturizer and you have just about everything that you need to glam and go!
Contents:
1) Donnamax Printed Nail File with Case (Full Size $4.99): This is a super cute mail file that comes in its own sturdy plastic case. This is perfect for travel, and is already packed for my next trip! #donnamax

2) Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen in Plum (Full Size $19.99): This is a gorgeous felt-tipped liquid eyeliner pen that applies smoothly and evenly and doesn't bleed or feather. It is a gorgeous shade of blackened plum that is perfect for those days when you want a little something different than a classic black cat eye. #starlooks

3) Hask Beauty Deep Conditioning Argan Oil Hair Treatment (Full Size 1.75 oz. $2.39): Hask makes great deep conditioners that leave hair soft, silky, manageable and hydrated in only 10 minutes. #haskhair

4) Jerome Alexander Hot Stuff Go Pop Compact (Full Size $10.99): This is such a gorgeous palette, and the compact itself is just the cutest thing ever. It features three eyeshadows and three lip glosses that are as cute asa cute can be. The glosses are non-sticky, sheer and comfortable on the lips. The shadows are smooth as silk and are nicely pigmented. #jeromealexander

5) Purlisse Pur Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer (Sample Size 0.5 oz. Retail $55.00 for 1.7 oz.): This is a lovely hydrating anti-aging moisturizer that is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types. #purlisse

Overall Assessment: The August BB5 Box is really wonderful, and the palette and eyeliner alone were worth the cost of admission!

  1. What a fabulous box! I can't believe you got the Starlooks eyeliner pen in the gorgeous Plum shade! Thru ipsy, I got it in yet another black :( I adore the orange compact, but I thought the eyeshadows were bronzer, blush and highlight, lol! I just applied for beauty box 5 a few days ago, but haven't heard anything yet. Fingers crossed.

    1. It really is, Allison! Between the eyeliner in plum and the palette– it's a really great value! The plum shade is definitely a lovely alternative to black, but I would have been happy to have received the black as well. I know what you mean about the shadows. I actually thought that they were a bronzer, highlighter and blush, and I suppose that you could use them that way as well. There was no product information from the line, but BB5 called them shadows on their product card. I hope that you are approved by BB5– I think that you will have fun with their monthly boxes!

  2. You got a different palette than me, such pretty colors! Unfortunately my mirror fell out when I did my unboxing video on YT heheh. They are stepping up their game!

    1. So far I have seen three different palettes out there. That's kind of lame that your mirror fell out already! They definitely are stepping up their game!

  4. I'd be most happy with the eyeliner. That alone would be enough to make me happy that I bought it. The rest is great for travel though I'd probably keep the cute palette for a "stocking stuffer".

    1. I know, and as cute as the palette is, the truth is that I will get more use out of the eyeliner!

  6. I'm one of those weird people who absolutely *hate* lip glosses in eyeshadow palettes. I never use them! LOL. But otherwise that palette would have my eye for sure. Overall, though, this is a great value in this box!

    1. I actually think that many many many people feel that way. There is that messy fact that powder kick back can end up landing right into the lip glosses or lipsticks when they are housed together in the same palette. The value is definitely amazing for this box, no question!

  7. I agree with Jessica on the lip product/eye combo palettes - usually the lippies get so powdery. But, the shades look really pretty and I love that adorable nail file!

    1. That is always the problem. The one thing that I do to prevent too much powder kick back, in lip/eye palette combos, is tilt the palette on the side and swipe downward. That way the powder falls to the countertop rather than onto the lippies. It's certainly a little awkward, but it does help.

  8. I wasn't a fan of that palette - Probably because the colors in mine were awful haha - But everything else is great!

    1. I actually saw one with a pink case and pink shadows and glosses. Iactually would have been super happy with that one. I would have used the shadows as blushes/highlighters!
