Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray | Review

I have to confess that I don't wear a makeup primer with any regularity, and despite the fact that I have normal/combination skin my finishing products tend to stay put without the assistance of a primer. That said, I do see the benefit, and a good primer certainly extends the wear-time of foundations and makeup. In truth, one of the reasons that I tend to skip this step much of the time is that many of the primers on the market are silicone-based, and they feel heavy, impermeable and artificial on the skin.

With this in mind, I was very intrigued by Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray because it is a lightweight spray that is silicone-free. This ultra-fine mist feels and looks like water, and it leaves leaves skin remarkably smooth and soft. There is no question that facilitates super smooth makeup application, and it definitely extends wear-time and retains makeup color vibrancy. Furthermore, this is such featherweight primer that it is absolutely perfect to use during the warm months of the year when lightweight textures are preferable to their heavy counterparts. We have been having a very humid weather pattern lately in Los Angeles, and Skindinavia has been my primer of choice because of its ability to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions, and it does so effortlessly!

According to Skindinavia,

Pore-clogging silicone primers have no place on your face! Get perfect makeup now and a virtually poreless, more even-toned complexion later. 1. I've heard such good things about Skindanavia Primer Spray and also Setting Spray. I must stick with my primers because I need the silicone, and truth be told, I hate spraying myself in the face ;)

  3. You know, I rarely wear primer spray either because they feel so heavy usually. It's nice to know this is a great alternative to those heavy sprays!

  5. Thank you for this review my darling mind reader friend. I just bought the uber horrendous MUFE mattifying primer and I'm surprised at how awful this make my skin look :(
How does this work on top of sunscreens? I wear Diorsnow and Chanel. Both leave me with a rather wet, slippery surface which I actually adore because my foundation does apply smoothly on top of them. However, my sunscreens do interfere with some of my foundations longevity, in particular my Chanel, Tom Ford, and D&G foundations.
Our place is still taking shape. It was a really bad move. We had all imaginable issues with the movers and with the new furniture. I haven't gotten my kitties just yet and not until the house is freed from boxes. I have found several shelters so I just need to have this place ready. I'll send you pictures once my family is complete.
    Much light,
    xxxxx

    1. Funny timing! I haven't tried the MUFE mattifying primer, but I'm sorry to hear that it is so bad!!!!!!! I hope that you return it! This one works fine for me on top of my sunscreens. On me, it just seemed to disappear, and it didn't seem to impact the texture or consistency of the sunscreen or the foundation. I noticed that they had a little tester bottle available on their website (I think) and that might be better to try than committing to the full bottle.

I'm so glad that your place is taking shape, but am so sorry to hear that you had a horrible move. Moves are not in the least bit fun– or at least the packing, transporting of your worldly belongings, and then unpacking! Once you get settled and out of boxes you can select your kitty family members and life will be even better! I can't wait to see pictures of your new babies when you get them! Have a lovely weekend! xoxoxox

  6. I had no idea this brand had a primer spray, how cool! I've been using the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water and love it. But, I'll definitely add this to my list to try!

  11. I feel you on primers. I rarely use it now since some moisturizers (and foundations) do the job already.
