Tom Ford Nude Vanille Lip Color | The Perfect Nude Lipstick

Purchased by Me (Affiliate Links)

As I was sitting in my car at a stop light, commuting to work, I quickly grabbed a lipstick from my makeup bag. Unbelievably, I do this while looking at the stop light waiting for it to turn green– my right hand deftly unzips my makeup bag, digs around until the chunky Tom Ford lipstick bullet reveals itself, and then removes the lid, applies it to my lips, recaps it and dumps it back in the makeup bag, and  finally zips it up. It is only when I'm done that I quickly glance in my rear view mirror to make sure that my lips are perfectly adorned with Nude Vanilla that my routine is complete. Invariably by the time I'm done the light changes and I am one step closer to work.

While it is my tendency to show you my lipsticks in their pristine pre-used state, it occurred to me that Tom Ford Nude Vanille Lip Color is no ordinary lipstick to me, and that it was worthwhile to revisit this much loved staple in my collection. It is like a well-worn infinitely loved pair of jeans that you never want to wear out because the fit is so perfect.
Nude Vanille is nude peachy pink perfection, and while it leans warm in the tube, this gorgeous chameleon of a lipstick morphs once it warms up on the lips. On me, it becomes a touch more pink– which is preferable given my cool-toned complexion. I think that the tiny amount left in this bullet clearly demonstrates my love of, and devotion to, this beautiful lipstick.
Certainly my love of Nude Vanille cannot truly be likened to Petrarch's unrequited love for Laura de Noves, but who better to express love than Petrarch.

From Petrarch's The Canzoniere ‘Oimè il bel viso, oimè il soave sguardo,’

Ah me, the beautiful face, ah me, the gentle look,
ah me, the graceful noble manner of her:
ah me, the speech that made every harsh
and bitter mind humble, and every coward brave!
And, ah me, the sweet smile, from which the arrow
of death, the only good I hope for now, issued:
regal soul, worthiest to reign,
if only you had not descended so late among us!
It is fitting that I burn for you, and breathe for you,
since I am yours: and if I am parted from you,
I suffer less from all my other grief.
You filled me with hope and with desire,
when I departed, living, from the highest delight:
but the wind did not carry my words to you.
The bottom swatch is sheered out. Nude Vanille is a creamy-dreamy lipstick that achieves full opacity in one or two passes depending on the level of natural pigmentation in your lips.
Nude Vanille as compared to other Tom Ford nudes.
Left to Right: In the Buff, Nude Vanille, Vanilla Suede, Bare and Naked (refer to the full post here).

Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer In the Buff is a stunning beige peach.
Tom Ford Lip Color in Nude Vanille is a gorgeous a pale nude peachy pink.
Tom Ford Lip Color in Vanilla Suede is a pale peachy beige with gorgeous golden pearl.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in Bare is a nude peachy beige with gorgeous peachy golden shimmer.
Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naked a nude beige peachy pink with refined golden shimmer.

Overall Assessment: Worth the splurge! Unmitigated nude peachy pink perfection.

  2. I do the traffic light rummage thing too, hahaha
Pristine lipstick bullets might be pretty, but I like seeing how much you've loved and used this one! I know how often I manage to finish a lipstick, so that definitely shows how good this one is. My Lips and Boys picks are starting to show some decent wear themselves, which makes me really glad I went with the "get the repromotes so you can replace them with the core colour later" strategy!

    1. Haha! I love that you do the traffic light slapstick rummage things too!

I agree with you that pristine lipstick bullets are pretty, but the well-worn and much loved lipstick tells an entirely different story altogether! There are not many lipsticks out there that I will ever get around to buying a second time, but Nude Vanilla is definitely one of them!

Yes, I agree that your rationale for your Lips & Boys selections were very well reasoned. I, on the other hand, got three that were LE– one of which I already wish that I had purchased in multiples (Flynn). I wish that TF would make some of those Lips & Boys LE shades part of the core line, but knowing how they bring back popular products gives us some hope that at least some of those beauties reappear! :-)

  3. I could picture you doing that in the car at a stoplight, lol. I, alas, am a lefty, so no shenanigans like that for me. Nude Vanilla is gorgeous. I think I could wear it (if I could afford it, lol!) because of the lovely pinky-peach cast. Beautiful lippie

  10. This shade is perfection and it's obvious you really do love it!!! The only lippie I have that looks like this is MAC Patisserie and I haven't used it in awhile. It was so low I even bought a back up that I haven't touched. I miss that thing!

    1. Hi Brooke, It really is such a perfect nude! I really do love it, and believe it or not, it is even more used now! MAC Patisserie is such a beautiful shade– I can certainly see why you would have worn that one down to a nub and purchased a backup! Maybe it's time to pull it back out and enjoy it again! <3
