Burberry Lip Velvet Long Wear Lipstick in Antique Pink No. 303 and Pink Amber No. 306 | Review and Swatches

Matte lipsticks have regained a tremendous amount of traction lately, and have enjoyed tremendous popularity this season. There are heavyweight contenders, like Tom Ford Beauty, setting hearts aflutter with gorgeous and visionary interpretations of the matte lipstick, but don't forget that Burberry Beauty has a delightful range of mattes that are an absolute delight to wear.

Burberry's interpretation of the matte lipstick is exceedingly comfortable on the lips, has the perfect amount of cushion, and as the name suggests has a long-wearing formula. Unlike many mattes, Burberry's are not drying to the lips, and are in fact slightly moisturizing.

I have two of them in my collection, and these beauties glide across the lips effortlessly, deposit color evenly, and they do not settle into lip lines. Furthermore, they achieve full opaque coverage in a single pass, have gorgeously luscious pigmentation, and do not have a flat finish. If you are sensitive to fragrance, however, be advised that these lipsticks have the same rose scent for which Burberry is known. However, I detect no taste once applied to the lips.
According to Burberry Beauty,

Burberry innovation brings a new finish for lips: a velvety matte radiance, inspired by the most opulent of English fabrics. Iconic pigments provide incredibly dense and luminous color, gel technology gives comfortable long-wear performance, while triglycerides and wild rose continuously hydrate. The result is effortlessly elegant, protective and breathable.
Antique Pink No. 303 is a neutral pinky brown.
Pink Amber No. 306 is a mid-tone neutral pink with a touch of coral.

    1. I do too! I agree that No. 306 is stunning! I share your obsession with Burberry Beauty– they really make such lovely things!

I'm having a fairly relaxing weekend, but am spending a fair amount of searching for scholarly journal articles to add to my reader for next quarter. How about you? How is the term going?

NO, I didn't!!!!!!!!!! It was very close in time following my lecture, and I had a few student issues that I had to deal with, and TA questions. By the time that I made it to the other side of campus it was too late to go. If the layout of the conference room would have a allowed for discreet entry, I would have gone anyway. However, this particular room layout is such that I would have to walk by the speaker, and I would be the focus of the entire room of people. I felt to weird about what would surely have been a rude interruption! I'm still bummed out about it! :-(

    2. Oh nooooooooo. It does sound terrible and awkward to have to walk by the speaker! I totally share your sentiment: I would have not gone. Oh no. You were so excited. Did they record his presentation? Can you, perhaps, write to him?

    3. Thank you, that makes me feel much better! I don't know whether it was recorded, but I plan to find out since it would be tremendously meaningful to me to hear his talk! Writing to hime is a good idea! You are a brilliant woman! xoxox

    1. Hi Whitney! They really are lovely! I got them at a Nordstrom Trend Event about a year ago or more ago, and at that time they were having a really nice GWP. I spent a small fortune, and I thing the counter manager may have added these in as an added perk.

  8. Antique Pink can pass for Marsala. Thanks for reminding me to revisit my Burberry lippies (Tom Ford mattes took the centerstage for me lately). Btw, Givenchy makes great matte lippies too.
