The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Brightening Complex | Review

 Purchased by Me (Affiliate Links)

The Organic Pharmacy has had pride of place at the top of my list of the most extraordinary natural skincare lines that I have ever used. In fact, it is one of my very favorite skincare lines, period. They make safe and effective products that do precisely what they are designed to do, and they are a great pleasure to use. Their antioxidant rich anti-aging products stand up to any of their high-end department store counterparts, and in fact it has been my experience that they exceed the efficacy of the chemical-laden products that I have tried.

The Organic Rose Plus Marine Brightening Complex is one of my more recent acquisitions from the line, and I actually made the purchased based upon the effusive recommendation of a really close friend who has been completely obsessed with this product for quite a while. I noticed how astoundingly beautiful and luminescent her skin appeared, and she attributed it to this one product. In fact, she said that she has never been asked about her skin more than she has since she began using this serum. I have to say that I completely agree with her assessment– it really is an amazing product, and I only wish that I had purchased it sooner.
According to The Organic Pharmacy, the Rose Plus Brightening Complex is, "A unique mixture of Bio plant technology, enzyme activity and selected vitamin action smoothes the skin surface and helps reduce pigmentation."

They further assert that it is,

A light brightening serum to lighten pigmentation as well as lift and smooth the skin. Suitable for all skin types, particularly suitable for people concerned with pigmentation. The result is smooth, refined and brighter skin. Papaya proteolytic enzyme exfoliates dead and damaged cells enhancing skin smoothness and encouraging cellural renewal. Fruit Acids from Hibiscus, Cucumber and Mulberry act on the production and accumulation of pigments through inhibition of the enzyme tyrosinase as well as a second exfoliation action. Extracts of the Nagaka Fruit prevents the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to keratinocytes. Glucosamine and Niacinamide applied topically stop the formation of new age spots and help fade existing ones. They block the enzyme responsible for melanin production. Kigelia Africana, Sodium Hyaluronate, Rose Hip and Calendula increase elasticity and collagen production as well as increasing and promoting cellular renewal. High molecular weight Polysaccharides in New Zealand Fern form an immediate matrix over the skin to improve firmness and elasticity.

Suggested use: Apply a small amount directly after cleansing, hydrating and repair morning and evening.

Overall Assessment: This is a truly remarkable serum, and I simply can't imagine being without it! There is no question that there are many more bottles of this magical potion in my future. This has earned an unmitigated A+ in my book!

    1. It is truly amazing, and it gives the skin such gorgeous luminosity! I saw that you won a big giveaway from The Non-Blonde– CONGRATULATIONS! Gaia is amazing! My end of the year is good, but feels a bit rushed as I prep for Winter Quarter (which starts on Monday!). How is yours? You must be enjoying your break from school! xoxoxox Happy New Year! <3

    2. YES! I am a looong time reader of the non blonde so it was a double gift for me. On the one hand, it comes from a blogger and a perfumer I admire very much and, on the other, it is a little window into something good. It felt like a caress from 2014 which, as you know, in many ways, was a really bad year for me. I am so ready to leave this year behind and hope for our TT lines and in my case, as things are looking, perhaps another postdoc really. It has taken me a really long time to understand I deserve a happy ending for my life and I want to claim it this 2015--my happily ever after. I need a job and a few cats and I can just smile.

    3. Me too! I love her blog! I was so happy when I saw that you won! You deserve it so much, and aI know that it has been a difficult year for you! It's almost over, and I feel that you will have so many amazing things happen in 2015! Whether it's a TT or another post-doc–I think that things will unfold and give you lots of well-deserved opportunities! Anyone would be very lucky to have you as a professor at their institution. I still keep my fingers crossed that we will end up at the same institution! You definitely will get the right job and a few cats, and a few new perfumes! I wish many many smiles for you in 2015! xoxox

  15. This sounds amazing. However, I am allergic to roses (as in Spring allergies to the flowering plant). So, I don't know if I could use it. I have therefore ordered some rose hip oil from Amazon. My thinking is that if I can use it on my skin (pure, organic, first pressed oil) I would be able to use other products which have it as a component. Is that rational/valid thinking? Thanks!

    1. It really is amazing! That's a really good question! I don't know if the processing of the roses would remove the allergens that cause you to react. Instead of spending the money on Amazon, could you try a tester of this at the Barneys in Boston next time you are in the area? Of course I would check to make sure that they actually stock it at that location. My feeling is that you would be better off seeing how your skin responds to this specific product, if that is what you are contemplating rather than just testing out a Rose Hip oil that will likely differ from the ingredients in this specific product. Of course, if this is a bigger experiment to determine whether or not you can tolerate rose-based beauty products, then that's another matter altogether. You might actually send an email to your physician to see whether he/she thinks it's a bad idea to use any products using derivatives from a known allergen for you.

    2. If you are very allergic to roses, it may be a good idea to avoid products containing them. What has happened in the past when you have used products that contain rose oil, or derivatives. This is such an expensive product, and it would be so wasteful to spend this kind of money only to fins out that you can't use it!
