Lolapalooza: The Sephora VIB Sale Edition | November 2014

 Purchased by Me (Affiliate Links)

The Sephora VIB Sale is one of those rare events that simply makes beauty product obsessed people twitch in anticipation of receiving a 20% discount off of everything. While I often tell myself that I won't shop the event because I don't need a thing-- that seldom comes to pass because it's an amazing time to shop.

I tried to curb my spending, but I am still obsessing about a few more things, Here's what I got:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette (Regular Price $58.00),  Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta (Regular Price $35.00), Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix (Regular Price $25.00 LE Holiday Set), Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Madiera (Regular Price $24.00), *Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Eyeshadow #9 (Regular Price $32.00), Deborah Lippman Nail Lacquer Crème (Regular Price $18.00) and two Sephora Collection Z-Palettes (Regularly $28.00 each). I also received a couple of Yu-Be Moisturizing Cream samples which I love!

*Armani Beauty is only available at select Sephora locations, and is not available online. In the Los Angeles area one can find Armani at the Century City and Malibu locations.

The VIB Sale Ends on Monday, November 10!
Here's an unsolicited piece of advice about the Sephora VIB sale: make a list, prioritize, and set a realistic budget that you can live with. One thing to keep in mind is that if there are certain things that you have really been wanting, but they have felt out of your monetary comfort zone-- then the 20% discount goes a long way to making higher end "wants" within grasp. If you have always wanted a gadget like a Clarisonic or a NuFACE system then this is a good time to contemplate the purchase.

Hot selling luxury products like Guerlain Rouge G Lipsticks or the Limited Edition Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette and their Ambient Lighting Palette become far more affordable.  They have a huge selection of skincare products including a fairly sizable list of beauty oils. They have a seemingly endless number of excellent haircare and body care products, and more tools and perfumes than one can imagine!

Are you shopping the sale or are you passing? What's on your list? Do tell!

  1. I can't participate in the sale, so I am living through you now! I did manage to lay my hands on NARS Digital World and the LM Caviar Stick set with the help of a blogger based in the UK. No such sweet discount, but at least I'LL HAVE THEM!

    1. Sephora doesn't ship to Belgium? I would think that since they started in Paris that they would ship throughout Europe! It's crazy that you had to go through a blogger in the UK! The NARS Digital World set is beautiful, and I love the box it comes in! I looked at it and got distracted by other pretty shiny things, and forgot to go back down that aisle to swatch it and see if I really wanted it! I walked right by the LM display and forgot to look closely. I get cosmetic onset ADD when I go there during the VIB sales, and of course once I get home I obsess about the things that I didn't get, and the things that I forgot to look at! I always bring a list with me, but all of the pretty shiny things are overwhelming for makeup magpies! I really wish that you had gotten the sweet discount, but I'm glad that you were able to get those fabulous sets!

    2. I don't know how I missed your comment about which Kérastase products I was using until now, but it is the Discipline line that is absolute perfection for frizz and fly-aways! I will review it soon! :-)

  2. This is the sale I wait for all year :) I've justified most products as "needs", but there are definitely some "wants" in there as well, like the Hourglass blush palette :) Can't wait for my order to arrive :)

    1. Hi Lucy! Me too! the 20% savings makes it pretty hard NOT to justify lots of needs and wants! Of course as soon as I got back home I started lamenting the things that I contemplated and didn't get! I'm so glad that you grabbed the Hourglass Blush Palette that would be a real shame to pass on this beautiful gem! What else did you get? I'm so excited for you! I hope that it arrives soon so that you can begin playing with all of the lovely things that you bought!

  3. I like those fairy light ideas! They are so pretty. Unfortunately I broke my ankle, so my plans are pretty limited!

  4. That was weird a comment I left on another blog went through here haha.
I bought so much stuff on the 20% sale! Cream eyeshadow, foundation, a few lipsticks, concealer. It feels so much more needed when we get that additional 20%!

    1. Hi Lisa! LOL!!!!!! I was trying to out what you meant, double checked my post to make sure I hadn't typed "fairy light ideas" in an under-caffeinated state of being this morning when I wrote this post! :-) You and me both! I went back for seconds today-- and will post it tomorrow! Which cream eyeshadows, foundation, lipsticks and concealer did you get? Are you running around the house doing the happy dance because of your purchases?! You really hit the nail on the head-- it does seem so much more needed when it's 20% off. The urgency is even worse when it is a high ticket item that you might not normally buy for yourself at full price! It's definitely a dangerous sale!!!

  5. Three cheers for the VIB sale! :-) I really appreciate getting a substantial savings on products like my beloved SKII Cellumination Mask-In Lotion (reg. $80) and Jack Black Protein Booster Serum (reg. $60) which I mix with my CE Ferulic serum. Since I use both products generously morning and night, I purchase three of each--enough to get me through the year. As for color cosmetics, I didn't get very much because I buy that kind of thing throughout the year, and besides, most of the brands I wear are not carried by Sephora. All I bought were two YSL Rouge Volupté in the Sheer Candy formula. There was nothing else I needed or wanted. For the holidays, though, I bought a dozen of Shiseido's wonderfully creamy honey cake soaps. This year, Shiseido brought them out in red and in green. They're transparent and come in corresponding jewel tone cases. I think a red and a green packaged together with a festive bow will make a nice stocking stuffer type of gift for my gal-pals. Once again, a great big thank you to Sephora! We're fortunate that Sephora offers us such a great opportunity.

    1. Hi Eileen! Indeed!!!!!!! I completely agree with you-- it is really a great feeling to get such a significant savings, and you really feel and see the difference on those high ticket skincare items! I'm surprised that you didn't get anything from Guerlain, or did you stock up on the last collection. It's certainly a nice to to splurge on a Rouge G-- I almost bought Gemma, but still haven't. I nearly bought a back-up of Gabrielle, but that seemed excessive and I really try to avoind backups unless they are spectacular LE products.

Great call getting two YSL Rouge Vs n the Sheer Candy formula-- those are gorgeous! I really need to pick up a few!

I remember you buying some of Shiseido's wonderful honey cake soaps last year too! I love that you got them in red and green this year-- this is so festive! Those are definitely perfect stocking stuffers! I agree, a big heartfelt thanks to Sephora! We really are so fortunate-- can you imagine if Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Barneys et al did this well?! It would be my undoing! :-)

    1. Thanks, Courtney! I actually grabbed more things today, and actually thought of you when I was picking them! I went in to have a look at a few things from other lines, and instead lost my mind with UD! I will post pictures tomorrow, but you can scold me for having lost all sense of reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  7. Love to see other people shop at Sephora for I, too, cannot. I lost my VIB status. I will just imagine myself swatching what you bought. *sighs dreamingly*

    1. I do too! Well, think of it this way-- to get VIB status means that you spent a lot there each year-- so you have clearly been a good girl by not splurging! <3

  8. I am in shock but I don't think i'm going to buy. I just haven't had any desire since I fell to own or even wear makeup. I'll probably kick myself for not buying things like the Hourglass palette.

    1. Hi Marcia! I know exactly what you mean, and I think that it is perfectly normal to feel that way. Your injury was serious, and I imagine that it had a rather immediate way of putting everything in perspective-- particularly since your leg prevented you from getting upstairs. There will always be other VIB sales, but if you think that you will regret some of the LE things slipping by like the HG Palette-- then get it for yourself as a treat and just put it away until you feel like playing with makeup-- because let's face it you love makeup, and that interest will certainly return once your leg has healed and life feels normal again! xoxoxox

  9. I haven't made my purchase yet. Hoping (unrealistic) that some stuff comes back in stock. I have a few things in my cart though. Trying to maintain a certain budget threshold. :-) BTW, love the title of your post!

    1. I bet that they will restock some things. Couldn't you also have your lovely friend who shipped your Space NK purchase pick things up for you at a physical location and send them? Would that be too difficult to do, or too much to ask? Plus she could just hang on to them since you are planning a trip to the states soon!!! I know JUST what you mean about trying to maintain a budget threshold-- somehow the seduction of a 20% discount makes it so easy to justify excessive purchases! Thanks, I'm glad that you like my Lolapalooza title-- I have been using that for quite a while, but have been rather good and haven't done any big hauls in a while! That sure went out the window-- since I went back to Sephora today and bought more stuff! LOL! :-)

  10. Great choices, and I'm jealous that you have access to Giorgio Armani where you are! I limited myself to the Sephora Favorites Skin Wonderland set and OCC's lip tar/nail polish set in Grandma. I'm considering going back for Hourglass Ambient Blush in Dim Infusion and the OCC Stained Gloss After Dark set, but we shall see.

    1. HI Lulubelle! Thank you! It's definitely a treat to have GA at two local Sephora locations. IF they had TF and LMdB-- I would be in serious trouble! You definitely made some really nice choices! OCC Lip Tars are remarkable! I need to pull mine out and give them some love!

    1. I know what you mean about going back for more! I have already done that once, and am still toiling over other potential purchases! I haven't used my HG Blush palette yet since I need to take some more pictures first! How decadent it must be for non beauty bloggers who use their new products as soon as they get home instead of putting them in a pile to photograph them! Don't you vaguely remember those days?! :-) I won't discourage you from another trip back since I have already done it myself, and am happy that I did!
