Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator Review

If you have arrived late to the Elemis party, as did I, then I implore you to begin investigating this marvelous line of products. There are so many treasures to report, that I can hardly believe that it has taken a skincare product enthusiast, such as myself, so long to become acquainted with their products. Better late than never!

I have long held that exfoliators are an essential part of a skincare routine, and I have used far more than I could ever possibly recount over the years, but the list of attributes that I require is quite simple: the scrubbing particles must not have sharp jagged edges that damage the skin, and the scrub must not overwork and strip the skin. My skin can be a bit finicky, and at times it can be sensitive, but on the whole it behaves normally for combination skin.

When I first heard about the Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator, I didn't give it a lot of thought. I suppose that I just assumed that it was a nice exfoliator, but not necessarily anything out of this world. When I used it for the first time I also had some misgivings when I squeezed it out of the tube and saw that it appeared to have a small ratio of micro-spherical beads to the cleanser gel-- I feared that it might be too gentle, and not exfoliating enough. BOY. WAS. I. WRONG! In fact, this may just be the most brilliant exfoliator that I have used to date-- no exaggeration. Not only does Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator do an exemplary job of removing all traces of dead skin, but it truly does it so gently that it is truly unlike anything that I have experienced. The exfoliating particles are smooth, and sharp edge free, micro-spherical Jojoba beads that are as gentle as it gets. However, gentle does not mean ineffective-- these understated little particle remove every bit of dead skin! It also leaves skin silky smooth and scrumptiously hydrated. It really is remarkable, and I am completely sold! Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator also has the gorgeous scent of roses that frankly takes the experience of exfoliating the skin from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Thankfully this exfoliator is gentle enough to use daily-- because I really love the experience and the results, and plan to use it often.

According to Elemis,

Hydrating Absolute of Moroccan Rose and smooth micro-spherical Jojoba beads very gently exfoliate, leaving skin silky soft to the touch. Gentle enough to be used daily, this subtly fragranced gel exfoliator is ideal for all complexions, including the most sensitive. An exfoliating face cleanser for sensitive, mature and dehydrated skin types.

Directions: Use after cleansing skin. Dampen the face with warm water and apply the Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator in circular motions all around the face and neck. Rinse with warm water. Use every day if you wish, the emollient gel is very gentle.

• Removes dead skin cells for a smoother, brighter complexion
• Excellent for use before treatment masks and moisturizers
• Gentle enough for daily use by all skin types

Directions: Dampen skin and gently massage in light circular motions. Remove with warm water.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Jojoba Esters, PEG/PPG-14/4 Dimethicone, Polysorbate 20, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Carbomer, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Tromethamine, Sodium PCA, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Red 4 (CI 14700), Methylisothiazolinone.

Overall assessment: I didn't know what I was missing until I tried this effective, yet unbelievably gentle, exfoliator. It leaves my skin velvety soft and silky smooth! It's true love for me.

  1. I am one of those that haven't really tested any Elemis products (gasp), lol. I used to see the brand around in spas and such but I'm not sure why I haven't been drawn to it. Maybe I'll give their products another look.

    1. Hi Kimmy,

I was exactly same, and now that I have tried numerous products I am kicking myself for not having tried the line earlier. So far, I have actually LOVED everything that I have tried. I usually find fault with some products even from lines that I love, but so far I am really thrilled with what I have tried! I would say that it is definitely a line worth your consideration. :-)

  3. other elemis products to consider -- the milk bath, the maximum moisture day cream, papaya enzyme peel, and there is another bath soak product for sore/tired muscles that i am just not seeing on the site where i generally purchase :( but if anyone is interested, the site is skinstore.com and they often have 20% sales, which is nice with elemis.

    1. I meant to tell you that I just found a deluxe sample of their shower cream amidst the products that they sent-- you certainly didn't exaggerate in the least bit-- it's really extraordinary. Thank you for all of these Elemis recommendations-- I will put them on my ever-growing list of things that I simply must try! Have a lovely weekend! :-)

    1. It really is an extraordinary shower cream. I didn't think that I would ever like something as much as the Kai Shower Gel, but this is definitely evoking similar feelings of LOVE! :-)

  5. as you must be aware, elemis is kind of pricey. i have found a very reputable ebay seler in the UK who has the most marvelous elemist gift boxes and sometimes, i just go on a bender with her. :) opening those packages with foreign postmarks feel deliciously wicked and i love it!

as i must be so careful with what i put on my face, i tend to go a little nuts with bath and body products to make up for dull monotony that is my skin care regime -- even though they are very good products, it gets dull.

    1. Yes, it's certainly not an inexpensive line, but I think that it's worth it! Everything that I have tried so far has definitely wowed me! Your Elemis indulgence sound like so much fun to receive!!!!!

Well, it's worth using what's tried and true when there are too many things that could cause your skin to become reactive. :-)
