Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment: A Delightful Luxury Oil Review

Purchased by me (Affiliate Links)

Were it not terribly obvious already, I would take pause to proclaim my unmitigated delight in luxury beauty oils. My tastes run wide and deep, and nothing delights me more than the discovery of yet another extraordinary elixir. My choices are far from limited to those types specifically intended for my particular skin type. In fact, I often find favorites in those designed for skin types quite different from my own. This was certainly the case with the Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment, a luxurious oil intended for dry and distressed skin, neither of which describes my decidedly combination skin. In fact, I was given generous samples of this delectable oil and their wildly popular Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Treatment, and I fell madly in love with the Damascan Rose Facial Treatment immediately. I savored every last drop, and knew that I had to have a full size bottle.
Aesop describes this beautiful concoction as,

"a concentrated nourishing treatment for extremely dry or distressed skin. Ten precious plant extracts in this concentrated botanical oil deliver potent doses of Vitamins E and A to nourish, relieve and deeply hydrate parched skin."

Aesop's Damascan Rose Facial Treatment is undoubtedly a very deeply nourishing and moisturizing face oil that will do wonders for dry and/or distressed skin, but it has also done incredible things for my normal/combination skin as well. It is a very concentrated, vitamin infused treatment oil that serves as a potent remedy for skin that needs intense hydration, but is so gentle and nourishing that my skin happily drinks it up and is left soft, supple, glowing, balanced, and very moisturized. I only need a couple of drops that I warm between my hands before massaging it into my slightly damp and warm face, neck and décolleté. It sinks in immediately and effortlessly, and it has an intoxicatingly hypnotic warm earthy rose scent that simply delights the senses. It is neither too rich for my skin, nor has it caused me to break out in the least. It just makes my skin look and feel amazing.
One glance at the list of ingredients tells the story of a deeply hydrating antioxidant and vitamin rich luxury oil that hydrates, soothes, replenishes, nourishes, and illuminates the skin.

Ingredients: Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Tocopherol, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Oil, Viola Odorata Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Beta-Carotene, Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, d-Limonene, Farnesol, Eugenol.
For added hydration and a gorgeous glow, I add a few small drops to my foundation or tinted moisturizer. At night I even add an extra drop into my night cream, and when I wake up my skin has a pronounced clarity, fine lines are softened and plumped, and my skin looks more rested and balanced.  Furthermore, it leaves my skin with a gorgeous ethereal glow that is alone worth the price of admission!
Overall assessment: An obsession worthy luxury beauty oil, to be sure! While it is intended for dry and distressed skin-- it does wonders for my combination skin. This is my first bottle, but definitely won't be my last!

  1. I really love the Parsley Seed one! I think this might work better for me in winter. When the time comes, I'm totally going to pick it up! Your seal of approval has given this a big bonus point!

    1. Hi Sunny! Yes, the Parsley one is quite lovely. I think that you will also love the Rose Damascan Oil-- it is such a beautiful product and it leaves the skin looking and feeling amazing. It sinks in so quickly and requires so little that I am finding that it works beautifully even in the warmer weather on my combination skin. That said, it is luxuriously rich and is very well suited to the colder months. I can't wait to see what you think about it! :-)

  2. Hi --
Lola, Ilove reading your blog, but it sends me in such expensive directions! I was not a fan of the By Terry "Lifting" Oil; might I like this one instead? My skin is mature, sensitive, slightly sun-damaged, and very dry on the cheeks. Thanks!

    1. Hi Duffi,

Thank you for your very kind words-- I'm thrilled that you feel as you do! Sorry about sending you in expensive directions-- I have that effect on myself as well! :-) This oil is so very different from the By Terry Huile de Rose. Aesop's rose oil is richer, thicker and more well suited to drier, more mature, or more distressed skin. My suspicion is that you will like this one, and find it far more well suited to your skin type. It has a luscious earthy rose scent and is unbelievably hydrating and nourishing. Despite the fact that I have combination skin, I find that it works well on me even though it wasn't intended for my skin type. I find it to be a truly divine oil that is definitely worth considering. If it is at all possible to try it at a counter that would be great, but I can't say enough good things about it (and definitely plan to buy a replacement bottle when I finish this one). Enjoy the rest of your weekend! If you end up trying this oil I would love to hear what you think about it! :-)

    1. My pleasure, Mamavalveeta03! I hope that you love this as much as I do! Let me know what you think of it once you try it. I had several samples of it, and that was all it took for me to buy the full size bottle! While it isn't even intended for combination skin, I have found that it works beautifully on my skin. Plus the earthy rose scent is GORGEOUS! I need to try their hand cream now! :-)
